List of Douglas O Faigel's Reviews
Dr Faigel has performed several ERCPs with stent placement on me. He has an excellant communication style always answering questions. I've reached out to him through Mayo's patient portal and received a call from him usually with in 2 hours..what surgeon does that anymore? Everytime i have an ercp i have received a preliminary op report with picture prior to leaving the hospital. I really can't say enough good things about Dr.Faigel. I feel extremely fortunate to have him as my pancreas surgeon.
I have chronic and acute pancreatitis, that requires advance ERCPs every 3 months for stent placement and replacement. I was fortunate enough to be accepted in Mayo Arizona where Dr Faigel is my surgeon. Not only is Dr Faigel extremely educated and published, his communication skills I found to be extraordinary. He appears calm, down to earth, and supportive. A fellow, Dr Chandrasekar is my assigned physician. His abilities and communication style are also exceptional. Skills and communication with patients builds trust and confidence. I only wish more MDs and surgeons were like these two doctors.
We found Dr. Faigel to be a warm, compassionate Dr, one who had to deliver bad news. He was matter of fact, but gentle. I wouldn't want his job, but he does it well.
This is the most smug, arrogant doctor who i have ever met. He was uninterested in my issue and i was dismissed "back to my primary care". I later saw a female GI who helped me identify the source of my issues.
He's very rude, condescending. I would never refer my worst enemy to him
I am flabbergasted at this physicians behavior! After waiting 10-hours, for an outpatient scoping procedure to be done, Dr. Faigel calls through a prescription for an antibiotic that costs $27/tablet. After 3 phone calls to his office, and calls from my pharmacy, he does not even return my calls! The physician on call yesterday apologized for his colleagues behavior and assured me that he would call me today; nothing! He also failed to properly diagnose the excruciating pain in my abdomen. He said it was caused by the pain medication I was prescribed. I took NSAD's for the pain, and when they didn't work, I was switched. The pain came first; not the medication. A very nice first impression; however, very poor communication, follow-up and bedside manner! The Map Clinic is first class hospital, but Dr. Faigel is serving only himself.
Dr. Faigel was not helpful at all. I found him to be rude and a very poor listener. He came up with a diagnosis for me but was not at all able to brainstorm treatment options for me. I was very disappointed and felt I wasted my time and money. My health problems need a cure or treatment and he seemed unable or unwilling to help me. He was a big disappointment. I was nervous at my appointment and he seemed to think this meant I had a mental problem instead of the physical problem I have. I would not recommend him to anyone. He was not caring and did not listen well or ask enough questions to get a full medical history and understanding of my situation.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
