List of Erik Dean's Reviews
Previous reviewer is absolutely correct about Dr. Dean. He and his staff could care less about how long patients have to wait. In fact they get POed and quite testy if you complain about having to wait. Now other medical professionals I make appointments will call and tell me if the doctor is running late. NOT DR. DEAN' OFFICE. I once suggested that to his staff, and they were completely flustered for an answer as to why they couldn't call patients and advise them Dr. Dean was behind schedule. Their answer wS basically, "Well well we just we just we just we just we just can't can't can't can't do that." Many is the time I have had to wait 40, 50, and 60 minutes for my appointment. Once it was 70 minutes and I just got up and walked out. Now here's the really funny thing: I was once on my way for an appointment, and the street was blocked by a three car pile up. I called Dr. Dean's office and said, "hey-I think I'm gonna be a little late for my appointment....."and you know what I was told by his reception Patty? if I was going to be more than 15 minutes late, they would have to cancel my appointment and rebook me!!! yeah, after all the times, I've had to wait for Dr. Dean and all the other patients have to wait for Dr. Dan. They couldn't wait for me. That was the last straw and I dumped him. Yeah other patients will tell you what a wonderful doctor he is a knowledgeable he is etc. etc. etc. and that's all true. But you know what? Upstairs from his practice is another Sports Medicine office with doctors just as good as Dr. Dean who don't treat their patients like dog crap and don't make patients wait for an hour.
I’ve been here 3 times now for follow ups on a broken leg. I’ve never had to wait in the waiting room. There is a streamlined process that Henry Ford would approve of. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Dean takes the time to answer all questions and is quite reassuring while going through a recovery. I hope you never need them. But I’d highly recommend them if you do.
Dr Dean is a nice enough guy, once he finally makes it into the room. He needs to stop overbooking. He listens, and he spent time with me. The aspect I did not like, or appreciate, was his refusal to give me cortisone injections, in both of my knees, at the same appointment. He said I could "pick" a knee. They were both very swollen and sore and this had been going on for almost a month. I was miserable. I thought it was probably an insurance issue but tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a protocol thing. Not safe to give two injections at the same time?? My NP later confirmed that indeed, this way, he could bill for two separate visits. Makes sense from a profit standpoint but is not a nice thing to do to someone who is in a lot of pain. He said come back in 2 weeks if the other knee still hurts. Did he think the pain was magically going to dissappear after a month?? It's still very swollen. Also, there is a woman, who works up front and answers the phones, who is beyond rude. Acts like she can't wait to get off the phone and sounds belittling. I'm sure she's busy and probably overworked, but she could, at least be somewhat pleasant. She needs to go, or get some training in customer service. I worked in healthcare for 13+ years. You do not take it out on your patients. Ever.
We waited 40 - FORTY - minutes in an exam room and this guy walks in and wants to fist bump and start talking LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. I said I am completely disappointed with how we have just been treated. We have been waiting here for 40 minutes with no communication about what is the status of your coming into see my 14 yo daughter who had an appointment at 3 PM. I said I think you owe us an apology for making us wait this when our appointment was 40 minutes ago. And do you know how he responded? He said "no I don't I disagree" He DISAGREED. I said when a doctor is running late it is common courtesy to lean your head in or have your medical assistant lean her head in and let the patient know what is going on with their appointment time. And when the doctor does come in the room late the first thing he should do is apologize for the wait. He *refused* to apologize. He said "this is how all doctors offices work. This happens to me personally all the time" I said that is completely ridiculous. I said I am 45 years old with 3 Kids... I've been to hundreds of appointments in my life and I have *never* been treated so flippantly. I told him I've had many an appointment that has been late but they had the decency to communicate the delay and then most certainly profusely apologized when they got to the exam room. Again he replies "I disagree" I told him how arrogant he was and rude and some other choice words I said we're done here and left. This sorry excuse for a D.O. Is worthless because he is inconsiderate, has ZERO empathy and terrible customer service.
Dr Dean has worked with me on my arthritic knee for the past two years. His treatments have allowed me to avoid surgery and to resume normal activities with very minimal discomfort. My normal activities include physical activities, travel (including a 10 hour hike to see mountain gorillas in Uganda), work and family life. He is an outstanding doctor who spends time and listens to your needs.
Dr. Dean is fabulous. I hurt my knee and he helped me out so much. Took the conservative approach and I'm out of pain. He listens to you and his staff is friendly and very efficient. Don't hesitate to reach out to him.
Dr Dean and the nurses & office staff are great. Didnt feel rushed and felt like I was getting top quality care. They made my injuries a breeze!
I've been into this practice three times now over the past couple years. Dr Dean was always thorough, knowledgeable, Genuine and like-able. However, I did run into a billing issue with the office. It was over a $70 co-pay. I went ahead and paid it for what I thought was a second time since they threatened collections, not worth the argument or research over $70. Every Dr's office I've ever been to collects co-pays before you see the Dr. So I was surprised to get a collections notice in the mail several months later for a co-pay. When I inquired, the office manager was condescending when I asked questions. She acted as if I was trying to skip out on my bill. I am happy to pay, just not twice. Life goes on and a couple years later, I need Dr Dean's services again. I called a couple times and had to leave messages. I did get a call back and an appointment scheduled. When I arrived, I was handed the new paperwork to fill out for updates to their new system. The first page asked for a credit card number to be put on file. I might have been OK with that had I not already had a prior billing issue with this office. Also, I don't generally leave credit cards on file without a cause or even service. The lady at the desk had no room for this concern of mine and insisted the doctor would not see me without a credit card on file. While I really did need to see the doctor, I went ahead and left anyway. Some establishments put people ahead of money and some establishments put money ahead of people. I think Dr Dean is great, but the office, not so much. A great steak with bad service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I struggle to write a low scoring review but suspect Dr. Dean needs to know my perception.
Terrific, compassionate, consultive and knowledgeable physician. Great, warm demeanor with an excellent staff. Erik is the kind of physician you had long, long ago and is practicing medicine the way it should be done. Superb doctor and person
I have been a patient of Dr Erik Dean for over 10 years, he is a dedicated , professional, knowledgeable and a very caring doctor!

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
