Great experience, he performed the right surgery for the person. I went to him barley able to walk with a cane and now I am 110% better.

Dr Burns made me feel very confident with my decision to undergo Lumbar fusion surgery. My recovery has gone smoothly and I am happy to be able to walk without an assisted device. The staff were great as well. I highly recommend Dr Burns if you are experiencing back pain.

Dr. Burns is, without a doubt, the best surgeon I have ever been associated with. Unable to stand on my feet for longer than 10 minutes prior to surgery. Walked out of the hospital the next morning after a triple lamenectomy and double fusion with zero pain and full mobility. Able to run within a month, back in gym 3 months later lifting 16,000 lbs daily in reps. Full recovery still after 15 months. Suffered debilitating pain for 6 years prior to surgery and painless immediately thereafter. Thank you so much Dr. Burns

As with most Board Certified Spine Surgeons, Dr. Burns is clearly bright, well-educated, very personable, with an engaging and energetic style. The Spine Institute of AZ for which he works, needs to rethink its approach to patient relations and communication. I've been around a while, and am an expert in Organizational Effectiveness, and they need to improve the patient-facing aspects of their medical group. Ok, that said... Dr. Burns removed a cyst from my lumbar spine. It didn't relieve the leg pain. New MRI showed a "new" cyst (still not sure if its the same one). He suggested their Pain Management Doctor attempt to drain it. That procedure also failed. In fact, it made my pain worse as the Doctor injected additional fluid into the cyst in a long-shot attempt to rupture it. No one from Spine Institute called to check up on me. Six days later, I initiated contact and only secured the Operative Report. Since then, 4 more days and...crickets. Do I give them another shot?

Dr. Burns is a fantastic surgeon. His knowledge is unparalleled. He is kind and easy to talk with. He explains everything in a way to ensure your understanding of the procedure and you leave his office feeling comfortable with your decision. My mother had a complex low back surgery. Almost immediately she felt relief of her nerve pain and was back to all normal activities within a couple of weeks . Highly recommend Dr. Burns.

I wish I could give Dr. Burns higher than 5 stars. I was experiencing excruciating nerve pain down my legs and inability to walk once standing up. I had debilitating neck pain for years. If it hadn’t of been for Dr. Burns’ stellar surgical skills, I would of soon been facing life in a wheel chair and paralysis. He was so kind and compassionate explaining the surgical procedure in detailed and easy to understand terms. It’s been 3 months now and I am walking with no pain whatsoever. I can turn by neck again. No more pain medication. Thank you Dr. Burns.

I had been experiencing problems with my lower back since 2005. Finally in 2021, multiple herniated discs and excruciating leg pain due to nerve compression brought me to the expert care of Dr. Burns. He was able to surgically repair what injections could not fix. His compassionate listening to me as a person and a patient went far above my expectations. His surgical expertise and patient care both before and after my procedure has been excellent.

I had spine surgery a year ago and I am pain free after many years. He is very kind and very attentive. I trust him completely because he is very straight forward and honest. I really can’t say enough about what a great surgeon and person he is. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough. I had a failed surgery years ago and he removed old hardware and replaced with new. I would recommend him to anyone with spine issues.

Dr. Burns performed a major surgery on my back. I had three prior surgeries performed in another state by other doctors that never corrected the problems. The surgery Dr. Burns performed did correct them. I would recommend Dr. Burns. He is very well qualified and very professional.
