I phoned to make an appointment with Dr. Russo and was asked about my problem. I said I had knee and hip issues and was told that I could be seen for only one thing because my insurance would not pay for more than one per visit. I called my insurance (Medicare) and my supplement and they said they had never heard of such a thing. I think this practice just wants you to go for two visits so they make more money. I cancelled my app't. and told them I did not want to be treated by anyone at a practive who lied to patients for their own benefit.
10/10 Doctor care with Dr. Matt Russo. As of now, both hips replaced with him at Ortho Arizona. I had my left hip done in June 2022 at the new facility in Scottsdale and not in the hospital as I did the first time. What a great experience! Out patient surgery with everything done in house. They have their own nursery, pre and after care, their own rehab specialists, and their own anesthetists so you stay in one place with great care. It is a little faster paced surgery but it all went down with great care and super easy. Surgery was at 11 am, recovery after that, then around 4 pm awake and gently up and walking around the hall with a walkers and an aid. Out the door by 5:30 pm! First day home was bit sketchy but after that all went well. I had no pain at all with the second surgery as well. This surgery was less stressful with coming off the anesthesia meds the next day. A little stiffness but up and walking with no pain and no assistance just a walker around the house. You can hardly see my incision which both sides were done anterior. Highly recommend this doctor.
Matt Russo is a brilliant surgeon and totally decent human being. But the office staff are not always efficient.
I had my right hip replaced by dr. Russso on aug 2 2023, So far everything has gone great. My recovery is going well and the pain level after surgery is there but minimal. Its been six weeks and I am happy that I found Dr. Russo. I would reccomend him highly.
I had a total knee replacement 10 years ago and it did not go well. My knee eventually stop bending, I was walking around with a straight leg. I had to always sit in an Isle seat because my knee did not bend, I had a hard time going up stairs. I went and saw more then one surgeon to get their opinions. When I saw Dr. Russo he said if anyone can fix your knee I can. It took me a year or two for me to finally get the courage to have a total revision done after what I went through the first time. It was a long surgery and 8 months of physical therapy. I am so grateful to Dr. Russo. I can walk and sit with two feet on the ground. Dr. Russo is the best, I can not thank him enough for giving me my quality of life back.
Dr Matt Russo showed me X-rays and explained what was happening with my right hip. Together we decided on a cortisone shot, PT and then dry needling instead of hip surgery due to my husband’s current health issues. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 due to 2 1/2 month wait to see him even though I was a previous patient. He deserved 5 stars due to his explanations, attention to my concerns and manner. I definitely recommend him as he did an excellent job replacing my other hip 4 years ago.
Personable is not the same as professional. If you wish to wait hours in a waiting room for a scheduled appointment where he takes 5 minutes, where he wants his surgery fees upfront before operating and waiting to get paid from a BC/BS EOB (Explanation of Benefits), if you want rude staff, then this is the doctor for you. The LAST surgeon I would ever wish to operate on me!!
I just liked his mannerisms, explained everything very well and very professionally.
Dr. Russo is simply the best. Very happy with the results of my hip replacement.
Dr. Russo took time to explain my x-rays and an area of concern. The time to get in and out was quick. I have recommended him to one of my friends.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
