Scottsdale Center For Advanced Pain Management's Online Review Report Card

I had gone to the AZ Pain Center chain and it was terrible. I felt like I was treated like a second class citizen and I hated it. Someone suggested him so I went there. There was a review in which the person said he kept stopping on every word because I felt like that too. He would want to go back every time. When we left I said to my husband I didn't like him too. Then I thought about it and realized he was the only one that explained everything (I have CRPS) to me. We decided to try and I swear he saved me many times from jumping off the cliff! All of those details? When I asked for my records for a possible law suit and I almost fell over when I saw his notes. That man had the timeline down to a "T". I found the letter he sent to the pain center scolding the Dr for not taking my situation seriously enough and as a board certified pain specialist he is required to give his patient better care!. He even understood my emotions and therefore documented them perfectly. The other people that had to go through my stuff ALL commended him. I really wish you had given him a chance. What we took as abrupt I now know was using time wisely. When I went to see him as my second opinion he spent 1HOUR AND 17MIN explaining the endless questions I had, I was so scared. He recognized it. He also took 2 pages of those detailed notes on front to back small print on yellow legal paper. He cares. Dr Sanel just retired at the end of 2016 and I now see his wife. He will always have a special place in my heart because he helped me through the hardest physical change in my life, Oh, and those details? I was recently had to travel "somewhere" to see a person about my CRPS and he too commented on the excellent details this Dr retains-its incredible. So far, his wife has been just like him. She seems just as respectful and kind. He is amazing and there are very few Doctors that care the way he did for me. I love this team!!!!

I have been a patient at this office for several years. I usually see Dr. Sanel but have also seen DR Cosjins. Both Drs spent a LOT of time with me and I always feel very well heard. I'm able to ask questions, never feel rushed and always feel like my needs are met. Dr. Sanel has done injections in my neck and spine at the surgery center and in both locations all staff has been very professional and friendly. Robyn returns my calls immediately, Katerina is very helpful in scheduling my procedures and I feel as if they all know who I am and what I need. The office is always clean and inviting and scheduling apt is quick and easy. I drive from Ahwatukee to Scottsdale to see DR Sanel and there are many pain specialists closer....I have referred many friends and clients to his practice and will continue to do so. DR. Sanel really listens to me and I feel he does a great job managing my pain meds and procedures.

The doctors here are very through however there have been times I felt extremely rushed. I feel that they may not be as aggressive on some who truly need it. I have questions I need to ask that are important and when I get in my car afterwards I remember and get upset cause I didn't get a chance to ask.

My primary physician sent me here for an epidural in my neck area due to problems from an impinged nerve showing up in my neck area on a ct scan and radiology report, I have pain, headaches, dizziness, faintness, nausea, numbing down right arm, thumb, and forefinger. Also my history of a herniated disc in my lower back which I did have an epidural on several years before by a different doctor, now some pain there is coming back and both feet are becoming numb. During my wait in the waiting room I observed both doctors, Sanel, and Cosijns, appearing very unhappy and rude to everyone, they had mad looks or scowling looks on their faces as if they were fighting, and it affected the staff and the patients in the waiting room as well. It felt like a fearful uncomfortable atmosphere, I wanted to leave but I stayed. When I was interviewed on this first appointment by Dr. Sanel, about my condition, he was like a rude drill Sargent, only allowing me to speak when he asked a specific question as he was taking notes. He told me we were to talk only about only one thing specifically. He wouldn't allow me to speak about any of my other symptoms, so I chose my impinged neck nerve, and told him my PCP agreed with my request that I needed an epidural, so that's what I came there for. Dr. Sanel instead gave me a prescription for a non narcotic drug named Cymbalta and sent me on my way telling me to begin with a small dose for a while, then go to the higher dose and come back in a few weeks and follow-up with the other doctor in his office (Anne-Marie Cosijns, his wife). After I was taking this nightmare drug I found out it had many side effects which it was causing me to have that I was not informed of. And I also found out you will become dependent on this drug, and cannot just stop taking it cold turkey or it will cause headaches and more side effects. This drug was a nightmare for me! So after dealing with all the effects of the drug during the few months I was taking it, I returned to the office to see doctor Cosijns, I told her about all of the problems it was causing and I needed to stop taking it, she told me to do so by ramping down the dosage slowly over a period of about 5 weeks. Then she asked me if I wanted an epidural! I was in disbelief, I just looked at her and said that's what I came here for originally, and now you ask me after all this I have been through for the last few months? I said NO, I'll let you know some day after I get off this drug! I never went back there, and would discourage anyone from going there, I also let my primary physician know he referred me to these doctors and how they treated me. I choose to live with my problems and am slowly allowing my brain to adjust to them, it seems to help slightly. My advice is to stay away from this place if you can, find another pain center with courtesy, that cares about you and your needs! Rob
