John Chen's Online Review Report Card

Today I underwent Mohs surgery with Dr. Chen who exhibited all the excellent qualities of an experienced surgeon. I felt so comfortable in his care, as he remained positive throughout my procedure. He seemed meticulous as he went about removing skin, preparing the samples for examination, and all the while informing me of his progress. Im confident that I chose him as my provider.

Just had my third mohs done by Dr Chen. Dr Chen and his staff make an uncomfortable procedure tolerable.

This was my second visit to Dr. Chen for Mohs surgery in the last eight years. Both times I had an extremely positive experience. First he welcomed me warmly and let me know what to expect. When the procedure was underway he explained what he was finding, consoled me when the news was not what I had hoped, and then advised me on my options for next steps (plastic surgery). He was reassuring and compassionate---exactly what you want in a doctor. He even called me in the evening to make sure I was doing okay. I'm so grateful to him and his competent team for making this stressful experience more humane. I highly recommend Dr. Chen and Healthy Skin Dermatology.

Have had several skin cancers past 6 yrs or so, different sizes, each in a different body area, treated with Mohs surgery by Dr. Chen, squamous cell and basal cell. Clinical and office staff professional and very competent in person and on phone. Most important to me: None of the treated areas returned! Speaks to referring MD and Dr. Chen's competence. He explains needed information and answers any questions.

Dr. Chen and his staff provide excellent medical care. As a plus to that, they are kind, patient and do a complete job of explaining what they are doing, what I need to do and upon leaving after some Mohs surgery - I was given a cell number of Dr. Chen that I could call at any time! Great patient services and excellent medical care.

I was told I needed a basal cell carcinoma removed. The procedure was not explained to me or why it was needed. When I asked questions I was given short answers that did not fully answer my questions. I did have the procedure, but do not feel like the proper amount of time was actually taken for Mohs Surgery. An odd place where some staff are warm and welcoming while others act as if you are an unwanted guest. The receptionist is the worst. I will be finding a different clinic.
