List of Lhc Group's Reviews
My physically and mentally disabled 81 year old sister was in a skilled nursing unit in a Tucson facility and received hospice care from Casa de la Luz December 2020 June 2021. They are NOT nonprofit. The drugs are NOT secured locally. They are NOT locally owned. The attending hospice nurse notified me of my sisters death by leaving me a 40 second voice mail I was her only living relative and remain horrified at how Case de la Luz handled communicating her death. I can NOT recommend Casa de Luz. A smaller more attentive and personal nonprofit hospice that notifies the family directly at the time of a loved ones death should be a priority. The only reason I gave two not one stars is because Irma the social worker was helpful and kind and Eric NP not employed by Casa de Luz but part of the facilitys care team was my God sent.
I have had several people rave about Casa De La Luz hospice and their caring and compassion. The staff were amazing and very helpful. Since the company was sold to LHC Group the management philosophy has changed and there has been a huge turnover in staff. No linger has that family feel or patient first attitude.
I am giving Casa de la Luz a 4star rating based on the excellent nursing care my mom was given over a fourmonth period. Her nurse Elda was stellar caring professional and made sure my mom was as comfortable as possible during her end of life. She also looked out for me as my moms caregiver. As far as administration at Casa I would have to give a lesser rating. My family used Casa previously for another family member and it was a different experience. The hospice sale recently to a new company has impacted the culture and procedures. When calling for assistance on nights and weekends you get an answering service and must wait for a callback. This is not comforting in a time of need. While my moms nurses did a very good job of shielding us from the impact of new procedures and processes it was obvious that the company was experiencing some turmoil. If a need for future hospice services arises rather than calling only Casa de la Luz as our goto my family will likely look at other options as well before making a decision.
Casa De La Luz supported my Dad and my family for about 4.5 months. The hospice support we received with my Mom through another organization was stellar but somehow Casa De La Luz took it to the next level. My Dad upon setting up services was still able to make his own decisions with my support and from our first meeting with the intake nurse to the very end the entire staff was incredibly kind knowledgeable and caring. They were incredible and responsive in navigating an uncertain and challenging time for all of us. Carrie was his primary nurse and made it her mission to deliver regular and ongoing information and care she was absolutely a joy to have as part of our lives during this incredibly hard time. Equipment ongoing communication various resources and overall medical care were on point throughout. I honestly do not know how the folks that work here are able to be so unwavering and strong helping patients and families through end of life. The professionalism experience and compassion we received was top notch.
In the greatest hour of need when my mother was actively dying and in pain I called the 24 hr line and a nurse was suppose to show up that day. No one called or showed up that entire day or night despite multiple calls. I called again the next morning and they finally sent someone out any the end of the day which also requires multiple calls to express urgency and only when I broke down in tears saying my mom is dying right now did someone say they would try to get a nurse there about 36 hrs after my original call. The nurse touched her skin and my mom grimaced in pain and the nurse immediately ordered new meds the ones we had were not touching her pain levels at all despite heavy and frequent doses. My mom was in pain for no reason and it was solely their lack of competency. They talk about comfort care and it is anything but. It is a nightmare. The nurse gave a 72 hrs of expected time to pass no call from anyone at the Hospice the next day Monday a business day. In the greatest time of need they don’t care or show up despite multiple calls for help. This is also the second time in a month that I have called for emergency care and they said they would send a nurse and never did. They say they will call and follow up they did not.The pain of loosing your mother is almost too much to bear but doing it in isolation and being afraid is beyond cruel.I brought my mom home to die in peace in her home and be comfortable. I wish I could have those last days back for it to be different. No one can give that back to us.Update one week laterI do want to say that the experience with the bed bath nurses and my moms main Nurse Amber were gentle and cared. The main nurse was so upset about my experience and really tried to show up in the final hours.I left a message with the Nursing Director Janelle one week ago today and never returned my call. The company did change owners in July and you can see a steep decline in quality of care. But to not return a message of a child in clear distress trying to take care of their dying parent is not about the change of owners for me it’s that the Director doesn’t care. Both my grandparents passed at home using this company and I would have highly recommend it but now I would do anything but.
They treated my family with dignity and caring. Everyone who answered the phone was beyond superb. Jessica was beyond wonderful and caring. For my dad Marvin.
My long time friend was recently here. He was there only a matter of days before he passed. The staff were incredibly kind and understanding. When they found out he was a vet he was never honored for his service but they honored him. Everything they did to.make his time there comfortable were impeccable.Thank you to all of the staff at Casa De La Luz. You are all grately appreciated.
If there were 10 stars I would give them to Casa de la Luz My mother is enrolled in their Palliative program and her team has been amazing. Having a nurse that can follow her through all the different doctors and hospital stays has been a life saver her team always remembers her birthday and all kinds of little things that make her days special the volunteers that work with her have become like family. I recommend them to everyone I know needing Palliative and Hospice services.
I never had to endure such pain of losing a loved one. Their nurses and staff are comparable to none. I have never seen such dedication and love towards a patient as I saw while doing hospice at home and at the end in their facility. The patience and effort given every single day was amazing. THANK YOU.
Excellent Caring staff. My Mother recently passed and the care she received was out of this world. My Mother had end stage of COPD. Worst sound was Moms breathing machine. Casa staff had put her machine in the bathroom and her environment was peaceful. Volunteers were great. Highly recommended.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
