I consistently have had very good treatment from Dr Carnahan. I have been a patient of hers for 4 years. She explains things very well. Office wait time is average.

She’s very professional with her patient/s, talks to them, works with them on medical issues. She’s been my neurologist for 3 years & counting. I’d recommend her.

Unprofessional and unorganized staff. MA was very inept and unhelpful, with low customer service and dismissive of doctor’s requests for patient (information of any sort). Doctor was always in a hurry, and rushed through appointments. Doctor also does not care about patient wellbeing and treats patients like a number, rather than a person.

DO NOT EVER SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT OR A LOVED ONE HERE. My adult daughter with epilepsy and a viral encephalitis survivor from age 10 saw a reluctant Dr. Louann Carnahan (she was referred by another Center for Neurosciences doc who was overwhelmed with her workload and left CNS) in 2016 & 2017. My daughter had more than 80 generalized tonic-clonic seizures under her care (more than she had ever had in 20 years) and we even tried a Vagus Nerve Stimulator that not only didn't improve seizures but I later realized shouldn't have ever been surgically inserted for her type of seizures. She has a horrible 3 inch scar on her throat and another huge one above her left breast and the VNS 3 inch "puck"is still in her chest. Basically, Dr. C nor Center for Neurosciences didn't care about their patient at all. We were "fired" and services were terminated the minute I requested the VNS be turned off. I found her to be the most unprofessional, immature (she actually rolled her eyes when I was asking questions), uncaring and cold doctor ever worked with. She NEVER touched or examined my daughter, asked her to walk, checked her reflexes, eyes or anything. She only wanted to see her for the 15 minute appt every 6 months and write a scrip. We received letters twice from CNS and her disability insurance carrier that they were having a contract dispute. I suspect they really don't want to work with United Healthcare or developmentally disabled patients because they don't receive the payment they might receive from other corporate or private companies. We were traumatized by this treatment and as a caregiver I am just now in 2019 recovering. The good news is we went back to her primary care doctor who's known her since age 8, discontinued the horrible medication concoction prescribed by Dr. C, and she is only having a seizure about every 3 months. We changed our diet (I asked about this and Dr C had no clue or suggestions). My daughter has since obtained her first job & is active in Special Olympics and Young Life instead of curled up on the couch with body aches and pains so intense we could hardly touch her. She had no quality of life. There are much better choices out there, don't go here for ADULT Neurology (their pediatric docs are awesome, we had the same one for 17 years).

I was originally Dr. Teeple patient but sadly he moved to TMC to work full time. He was a great doctor, bedside manor, answering questions, kindness, ect. everything an A+. Until I was resigned to Dr. Carnahan... My first appointment with this newly hired doctor to take Dr. Teeple's spot was HORRIBLE!! It was shortly after my surgery and my parents brought me in for a follow up. She is very impatient, loves to interrupt you while speaking, and cuts you off. Both my parents and I left with more questions then we came in with. Since my recovery plan was already in place by Dr. Teeple I didn't bother to look for another Dr. and decided to put up with her a couple more visits till my recovery was completed. Well... she decided to change the recovery plan to a more life long recovery plan and remain on meds instead of winging me off after a couple years seizure free. I'm now with a new Dr. and everything has changed (in a good way). I will miss the staff at CNS but I won't miss her!

Doctor lacks years of experience. Poor bedside manner, doesn't listen to patients, dismisses concerns, quotes guidelines, talks over you, gets frustrated and aggravated when you question the medical reasoning behind recommendations, pushes medications based on stats/guidelines vs. individual patient medical situation.

As we all know, etiquette, empathy, and overall friendliness are seemingly things of the past, and few deserve a review. With being doubted by all the other doctors I've tried, I didn't approach Dr. Carnahan the nicest we'll say, she seemed unfazed and quickly catered to my concerns and health issues. She ended up finding what no others could, she cares and it shows, thus with her ambitious efforts and how bad I feel for not being friendly, she without a doubt deserves a good review and thanks.

Dr Carnahan was efficient, professional, and compassionate. She was able to take note of my symptoms and diagnose clearly. She then also gave me a solid foloow-up and self-care plan. U thoroughly enjoyed meeting her.

What a breath of fresh air!My son was dx'd with epilepsy about 2 yrs ago, at age 19. We were seeing Dr. Teeple at Center For Neurosciences and he was fabulous. Not only was he very knowledgeable, he had a great bedside manner and a terrific rapport with my son. However, he stopped working in the office to be at TMC full time. They moved my son to another Dr. at the practice who was horrible. After complaining, they moved us to Dr. Carnahan.She listens patiently to everything my son has to say. She offers suggestions and gets his feedback before making a decision. She looks at his overall life functioning with epilepsy so that he can be employable and employed and successful in life. Not too hard to get an appt and she doesn't run too far behind (a little bit, but not bad). She is very knowledgeable about Epilepsy and medications but doesn't talk down to us. Again, she LISTENS. When my son needed a note for his employer, she faxed it to me within a few hours after I asked for it!!!I highly recommend her.
