List of Paul Kartchner's Reviews
Dr K has been our Dr for 3 or 4 years. I cannot recommend him enough. He's quick to respond, compassionate, good listener. My kids love him. He remembers you and knows you - you're not just a number. Finding him has been the best thing for us financially and for our peace of mind. Moe is awesome as well.
Affordable, quality healthcare at its finest.I had shopped around for "insurance" only to find my most "affordable" option was $247 per month with $8700 out of pocket deductibles per year ($11,600 per year). I cannot afford that. I don't know many people who can afford the "affordable healthcare" "insurance".Dr. Kartchner offers an affordable monthly rate. It also allows great discounts for out-of-office services (x-rays, labs, etc). The office staff doesn't have the stressors of billing insurance, nor do they have to pay staffing to handle the ins and outs of dealing with insurance. This is a big deal, and saves an enormous amount in wages and resources. The savings are passed onto the clients/patients. It also allows the staff to treat the patient like a person, not a pain whose insurance is going to cause them a chronic headache.I had some concerns of joining, especially the ability to get same-day appointments if I experienced an acute illness, requiring same-day treatment. This has not been an issue, and Dr. Kartchner explained that he has the intent of keeping his client base balanced with the demands of keeping daily appointments available. The feel in the office is not like the ordinary doctor's office where you sign in and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. If you haven't experienced this before you're lucky. Dr. Katchner's business model naturally avoids this delay in the waiting room. There is no stress, very short waits, if any, and a relaxed staff and atmosphere. This seems to be an ideal medical practice plan. If all practitioners and medical facilities offered something similar, healthcare would be affordable as it was before the insurance dealings of the day. I can afford healthcare made affordable. I am more than happy to pay for services. I cannot pay for "insurance" still requiring a monthly rate I can't afford, especially for the entire family ($700+ per month), plus thousands of dollars in "deductibles".The care I have received thus far is exceptionally better than I have gotten by any other medical practitioner. Dr. Kartchner listens! He cares about underlying conditions, past medical history, and really takes note of what I'm saying. I'm not a cookie-cutter patient to him. Even after an appointment, it's not uncommon for him to send me an email about a condition or concern days or weeks later. He keeps me in mind. Who does that?! Honestly, paying $70 per month for a doctor who really cares about me is affordable and well-worth the peace of mind of having access to healthcare that I can really afford!I can obviously go on and on about The Family Doctor. I would highly recommend him.
Not a fan of going to the doctor but Dr. K is awesome. I hadn’t been to a primary care doctor in over a decade and was nervous the first couple times I went but Dr. K and Mo made things easy and comfortable. I’m looking forward to my next appt.
Dr. K is probably my favorite doctor. I'm a nurse and spend time with various doctors. He is personable and REALLY takes time to listen to you. His rates are great, they don't report to your insurance, and no long waiting periods to get in. He has better prices on medications or will try to find you the best price. They don't accept insurance. I have insurance and it costs more to be seen there. I highly recommend Dr. K. For questions, call Mo. She's great, too.
With our upcoming Honeymoon in South Africa, my new Husband and I were in need of Medical Travel Counseling AND Vaccinations -- FAST! Shopped around town to find there are several clinics, all about the same in price (insurance usually does not cover travel vaccines! gulp!), and when I found Dr. Paul over at The Family Doctor I was pleasantly pleased to find they came in about $100 lower than the next lowest competitor around town. We got our Hepatitis A vaccination (lowest cost in town), and our Typhoid inoculation - they do pills or vaccine, we opted for oral meds as they are more effective, last longer, AND were less expensive, (again, lowest cost in town), and we got prescriptions for Malaria medications and other antibiotics we would potentially need on our adventure... All of this for around $200/person! This expense was a shock for my new husband and I as we figured insurance would cover our costs, but they did not, so make sure you check your insurance, and account for this in your foreign adventure budget. But in the end we are SO happy we found Moe & Doc Pal Kartchner, as our experience was five star from the first phone interaction, second and third, as well as our visit start to finish. This is a clean and modern facility, comfortable setting, top notch customer service, and Dr. Kartchner was knowledgable and took his time explaining to us the risks, and preventative precautions we needed to be counseled on before our Photo Safari Honeymoon Adventure! Considering all the shopping around we did, this was WELL worth the money! We won't ever go anywhere else for Travel Medicine! They also run a non-traditional non-insurance general practice, and we are considering making Dr. K our regular visit PCP.Thanks Doc & Moe! See you in 6 months for our follow up and to share our adventure tales! - Audrie & Jake
Dr. Paul Kartchner has been our family physician for almost three years and we highly recommend his services.. They are top of the heap, number one, no question.First, his office is conveniently located on Tanque Verde near Frost. He does not overbook, which means you can usually readily get to see him. His office assistant is so well organized, and the office runs like clockwork.I recently was hospitalized after Dr. Kartchner caught something and talked it over with my specialist. Guess who frequently turns up at the hospital to see who I am doing...not once but often...yes Dr. Kartchner. He is not only a very patient listener, very well grounded practitioner, but is very caring. So if you are looking for a primary care physician, give him a try!
Excellent service.
It's nice to have a doctor who actually cares. I would recommend doctor K.
I highly recommend Dr. Kartchner to anyone seeking quality healthcare. Dr. Kartchner will take the time to get to know you and your health. Spends quality time and offers quality service. Mo is terrific and will ensure you are taking care of in a timely manner.
I am very pleased with my experience at Dr Paul Kartchner's office. The doctor was prompt, considerate, attentive, and generous with his time. He provided a generic alternative to a prohibitively expensive treatment, allowing me to get the medicine I needed and saving me a great deal of money. He filled a prescription in his office in a matter of moments, and I understand he also performs his own laboratory work on the premises. He fees are more than reasonable, and a practice membership seems an extraordinarily good value. I highly recommend Dr Kartchner and am grateful to have found his practice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
