List of Romy Cabacungan's Reviews
I should have listened to the other reviews. This Dr acts like you’re inconveniencing him by needing to be seen. I’ll go elsewhere from now on.
I’ve been to over 5 others and this guy is the Best rheumatologist in Tucson. He’s stuck with me forever lol
He is THE BEST! Very patient. I have an unusual case and he took the time to listen to me and discover what was going on. Highly recommend.
I asked for hand injections and was told I was a trouble maker. There is something wrong with Dr Cabacungan. Nurse practitioner is excellent.
He was able to diagnose the condition but it was all downhill from there. After months of this infusion, I continued to worsen to the point I was home bound and it was painful to even move, I complained forcefully as I worsened and I was sent a letter discharging me as a patient! Discrimination at its best.
Verdict still out. Might switch to another physician. Unlike any rheumatologist I’ve ever been to. Never checked my joints. Never examined hands & feet. Never checked reflexes. And it wasn’t because of COVID because unlike me, he didn’t wear a mask. I didn’t leave with confidence that he understood my condition. I did leave with a nagging feeling he didn’t care. He also mentioned I had taken up too much of his time. My labs came back with some alarming results. Elevated antibodies & red blood cells, low C02 & vitamin D. My GP responded to Dr. Cabacungan’s labs immediately & did a Zoom follow up the next day. Dr Cabacungan - nothing. We had an appointment one month out, I guess he figured that was good enough. His office never told me the labs had issues. I had to call & follow up & discover the issues on my own, & forward them to my GP. All of this compounds my “feeling“ that this doctor doesn’t care, and so might not be the best doctor to help me manage my autoimmune conditions.
This "medical" practice is horrible. The staff lies to cover their own incompetence and if you question it you are scolded like a child and threatened to be terminated from the practice. Please read some of the other comments, this is not a one time situation, it is common practice here. They are willing to threaten to leave a person without medical care simply for expecting them to do their jobs.
This office is absolutely the worst as far a being managed and it gets worse from there. You will not reach anyone by phone, ever. You are told to use the patient portal but will not receive a response. Dr. tells you to stop medications, we are going to try a different one and will need a pre-authorization from the insurance. Waited three weeks, nothing, called my insurance, office never submitted for the pre auth. Another time insurance needed more info, office never responded. Stay away unless you are perfectly healthy and will never need to see the doctor. Now they have a PA that "sees" patients so the actual doctor only sees you every three visits even if your disease is not under control. Anyone who has ever dealt with autoimmune disease knows how devastating this kind of neglect can be. No caring here. Last time I saw the doctor he never even looked at my swollen joints, he's so afraid of having sick people in the office he would rather we go to urgent care.
Romy is fabulous. Super knowledgeable and confident. Despite have a chronic immune system disorder, and ongoing issues, his direction and advice help me to feel as if it’s a disease I can manage.
I was diagnosed with AS 35 years ago and finally relocated to Arizona for relief. I made an appointment with this doctor as a new patient and saw him in June of 2019. I have to say he was the worst physician I have ever had. He seemed bored and inattentive to the conversation and his recommendation to treating me was to “stretch”. The whole experience was surreal as he seems to obviously make other patients happy according to his reviews, maybe they’re fake, I don’t know. Based on my one and only visit I would highly recommend finding another rheumatologist!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
