A couple weeks ago, we took our 16 yo son to a community clinic for an infected wound. For a routine abcess draining, this pediatrician insisted my son needed to be put under anesthesia and operated on...again for a small abcess draining. I was shocked and having a emt trained husband and a internationally respected doctor for a father-in-law, my husband's opinion is valid for many reasons. But also obviously because he is the parent of our son, so I said I wanted to discuss it with my husband first. This pediatrician became flustered and visibly angry at this point. Again, shocking me. She insisted I make the decision at that moment. I refused without my husband. She gave me an ultimatum of 2pm. I called her back at 1pm that we had a new doctor. She called us 8 times in the next 2 days, refusing to accept that we did not need her services. The other doctor was amazing!.. and did not force or coerce under duress. He was shocked by the advice of this doctor and ensuing behavior also.
