Lawrence Teruel's Online Review Report Card

Dr Teruel was very caring and knowledgeable. He could definitely use an assistant to help him be more efficient. Great bedside manner which is greatly appreciated.

Didn't feel like I was taken serious. Given a ridiculous explanation for my condition. Will not return. Please cancel any further appts. Will look for treatment out of area.

Dr. Teruel did surgery on my right sinuses on 4-6. On 4-18 I woke with severe pain in my right eye. I saw Dr. Teruel on Mon 4-19 and he sent me to an ophthalmologist on Tues 4-20. He said I should have a CT scan as soon as possible. I went back to Dr. Teruel on Wed 4-21. He seemed unconcerned but said he would order a CT scan. On Fri 4-23 I called Dr. Teruel’s office and his receptionist said “Ok, Ok I’ll call in the order right now”. On Tues 4-27 I had not been contacted about the CT scan. The pain was so bad that I went to the ER at Canyon Vista Medical Center. They did a CT scan and saw the infection in my eye and transported me to Banner University Medical Center in Tucson. I received IV antibiotics for 9 days in the hospital and another 7 days at home. The imaging center Dr. Teruel uses didn’t call to schedule the CT scan until two weeks after I returned home from the hospital! To make matters worse I have to pay $443 out of a monthly income of $1570 since I live on SS.

First visit was in 2020 and was to have a follow up in Feb 2021. The secretary Dawn is the worst! She told me that she would call me by the end of Feb in regards to my thyroid sonogram, never happened. The WHOLE month of March went by without a call from her. I ended up calling her on April 8th and she had no clue but promised to call back on the 9th. No call. I ended up calling again on April 21st and she put me on hold for 20 mins! I will be looking for another doctor with better staffing.

We scheduled our son Phoenix to get his tonsils and adenoids removed and of course the night before we decided to read the reviews on our doctor and became apprehensive. If you are reading this I can’t express how grateful we were for Dr. Teruel he did an excellent job, and made us feel like family. I know being in Sierra Vista the word around town isn’t all that great about our Hospital, but even our experience with the staff at the hospital was excellent. My son Phoenix Valdez just had his tonsils removed by Dr. Teruel this morning. He treated us like FAMILY! Not just some random patient like almost all drs do. He was thorough and caring and made sure we could get in contact with him for ANY reason at any time! He said he would meet us at the er and he would check and make sure my son was ok. He did an incredible job with the surgery but his heart for our family means the absolute world to me as a mom! I can’t begin to thank him enough!!!!

Dr. Teruel is the actual WORST. It is seriously like visiting a third world clinic going to him. His staff was so rude, but hey, whatever, that didn't necessarily mean he was a bad doctor. WRONG! The exam room was DISGUSTING. Open bottles of saline with used cotton swabs next to it. He even had trash and medical waste jammed in an old Listerine bottle that was still there when I had a follow up visit weeks later. EW! He was so condescending and just plain RUDE each time I went to visit. He barely looked me over, but when he did he didn't wear gloves. He barely acknowledged me, but kept talking to the wall and I had no clue what was going on. It turned out that he had a virtual medical assistant on an iPad that he hadn't mentioned. He didn't address any of my concerns and was no joke the worst doctor I have ever visited.

I went in for sinus surgery and deviated septum. I gave him one star because it was immediate relief for the sinus pressure on my face. However, because of the surgery, my spetum was perforated. He told me not to worry about it since it wasn’t big. Now in 2018, I could not be more miserable. I have constant infections, daily nose crusting (that I must remove because I feel I cannot breathe) anxiety, dryness, I cannot fully breathe in as much air as before.

Dr. Teruel is a kind and takes a interest in his patients. I have been coming to him for 7 years. I know that sometimes he has to take longer with some patients but I have been to other specialist and had to wait 30 minutes just to get in the back room.
