Rachel Alkire -- what a gem!! She is one of the most genuine, caring, generous, and thoughtful practitioners I have come across in the medical/healing space. At 38 weeks pregnant I had an acute/urgent issue and even though I hadn't seen her for an appointment in many months, she immediately responded to my message with a phone call and provided a wealth of sage knowledge and advice. Both her kindness and her holistic medical wisdom shine through when you interact with her. Highly recommend.
I can’t express how grateful I am to have found Rachel Alkire at Grow Family Acupuncture! Rachel is not only a great acupuncturist, she is intuitive, a great listener, and an amazing resource. She helped me through the hardest part of my infertility journey, through a difficult pregnancy, and supported me through the fog of postpartum. The practice is always calm, clean, and inviting. Look forward to continuing my acupuncture treatments! Amazing care that you just can’t beat.
My ob/gyn's referral to Rachel at Grow Family was the single most helpful thing she did for my pregnancy, let alone the postpartum period. She is incredibly attentive, caring, and healing physically, spiritually, and emotional. My husband even looks forward to my sessions because he sees how good they are for my overall well-being. In early day covid, we couldn't do sessions and that was big blow. I am so glad to be back to seeing Rachel, and combining indoor and outdoor sessions (air quality depending). They are taking covid seriously including masking. Rachel is also a referral guru. She has very helpful recommendations for other high-calibre practitioners, classes, resources, supplements, you name it...meeting her opened up a whole additional layer of support to me due to even just her network of resources. I've referred friends (and pretty much anyone who will listen) to Rachel and hope you'll go visit - you're in for a treat. And we could all use some goodness right now.

Rachel Alkire is absolutely amazing. She is not only a great acupuncturist, but provides valuable advice and support both during pregnancy and postpartum. She was great at getting me to relax during the most stressful last month of pregnancy. She also was able to help me with lactation referrals. Highly recommend. :-)
Dashal was a huge part of my getting pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy. I went to her for acupuncture but she provided way more than that - from nutritional coaching and emotional support to really helping me understand my cycle. She's the most holistic health-care provider I've ever had the good fortune to work with.

As a Birth Doula I often trust Grow Family with my clients wishing to avoid a scheduled induction or finally meet their baby at the 40 week timeline. Warm, friendly and knowledgeable they are my particular favorite to refer clients to.
I was pregnant and eight days overdue when I made my first appointment with Rachel Alkire to induce labor. Hours before my first appointment I threw out my back! I could barely walk when I saw her. She was so understanding of my dual needs: induction and pain relief, and did a great job with both. Rachel had explained that usually inducing labor takes three appointments; four hours after my third appointment my water broke (I don't think it always works like clockwork like that!!). My back pain is pretty serious, so while she could not make it go away completely, she gave me relief during the appointments and I felt increasingly better after each visit. She also gave me portable heating packets that have changed my life!!
I traveled from Russian Hill, San Francisco to see Dashal during my egg freezing because she came highly recommended to me by a dear friend (a family doctor with UCSF/Harvard pedigree) who credits her with getting pregnant and subsequently, inducing labor. While I was expecting a technical expert (which happily, I found her to be), I was impressed by Dashal's bedside manner when we met; her questions were direct yet she was warm, understanding, and I was immediately at ease. Her professionalism is noteworthy, and it was clear that she had extensive experience in fertility; she was able to answer very nuanced and sophisticated questions that might otherwise catch someone with less training off-guard. She asked for very specific information from my ultrasounds, and used this information to stimulate my follicles as needed. I ended up with 2x as many eggs frozen as my doctor estimated throughout (!) and I am pleased that I was able to do everything in my power to help facilitate quality and quantity during this short period. A small sacrifice to preserve optionality in the longterm! I'll add that my conversations with Dashal were so very helpful in terms of my better understanding each step of the process, even though I was paying top dollar at a private fertility clinic and am not the type of person who is afraid to speak up. Dashal simply took the time to add to my perspective, and as I was looking for someone knowledgable to raise material considerations for me to evaluate, this was incredibly helpful as I framed decisions for myself. I highly recommend Dashal, and I sincerely hope she has an opening for you as her calendar does fill up!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
