Dr. Hay's office provides a seamless, efficient, and comfortable experience. I needed wrist surgery and the team was incredible, as was Dr. Hay- I am recovering well and my scar is perfectly straight :) I'm very impressed with the doctor and team.
This doc has great bedside manner. Professional, knowledgeable, and effectively communicates the treatment plan. This entire office is meticulously clean! The office staff is friendly, informative, and timely! I highly recommend this Dr & his office!
I have cmc joint arthritis in both hands, leaving me with painful mobility. Dr. Hay is the fourth hand surgeon I’ve been to, and the only one who was realistic, honest, and willing to listen to my concerns. The other doctors either wanted to rush to surgery (the barbaric kind) or shoot me full of cortisone. I went the cortisone route for a few years but knew that couldn’t continue. I was all set for surgery with Dr. Hay - who suggested a much less barbaric version of the surgery, and then I came across another alternative treatment. I went to see Dr. Hay about it and he was honest, supportive, and never made me feel like I was crazy or dumb for wanting to try one more thing. I know that I will most likely eventually need the surgery, and Dr. Hay told me warmly that whenever I was really ready, he’d be there. I feel like I finally found someone who can realistically help me, who is personable, kind, and straightforward. I highly recommend Dr. Hay.
He did a common trigger finger surgery on my hand. The result is not good. He did incisions vertically and the healing has been very slow and I after a few months I still have a lot of pain. I have tried to contact him and find out if there's anything to be done, but no-one got back to me. For sure I won't recommend him to anyone for this procedure.
I haven’t been able to correct the rating on this Great Dr.
Really nice and a thorough doctor. He does care. He is super smart. He was born & bred in Newport Beach. He has a relaxed attitude but rest assured he knows exactly what he is doing. We both find out that I had back surgery seven years prior with another great (spine) surgeon who happened to attend elementary school, middle school high school and college together. When Dr. Hay found out, he exclaimed that my spine doctor was the smartest Dr/person he has known. It was so generous of him; because he is as good a surgeon.
Dr. Hay is amazing. He truly cares about his patients and is very thorough. I would highly recommend him.
A great experience! I would say this was the best Dr office visit I have ever had! Everyone at the office was professional and nice. Dr. Hay was great and explained everything to my son. Thank you very much! Farid
I had a referral service refer me to this provider. I had a broken wrist and was in a lot of pain and trying to find someone who could see me and do surgery as soon as possible. I called them and they originally told me that I would have to go out to Anaheim for the appointment. I told them that I can’t drive that far because I have a broken wrist so they scheduled a telehealth appointment for me. The next day an hour before the appointment I was called and said the doctor refuses to see me unless I come out to see him in Anaheim and that he in fact cannot do a telehealth visit. The woman I spoke to both times was extremely rude and very unsympathetic. I told her several times that I was in pain and could not drive. A full day was completely wasted that I could’ve spent looking for another provider or seeing someone else because they lied to me.
Never, ever close to on time. Chronically overbooks. Books 5 people for same 15 minute slot? Booked an early morning appointment to avoid this, did not make any difference. Has also told me I needed surgery one appt and another appt I did not but the joint certainly did not heal itself. I do doubt I needed the surgery in the first place.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
