List of MIchael M. Kim's Reviews
I found Dr. Kim to be very knowledgeable. He is very personable and put's one at ease.
I was hospitalized and Dr. Kim took a good care of me in the hospital. However, things went south after that. After going home from the hospital, I called his office on 3/14/16 and tried to make an appointment so Dr. Kim could continue to help me. The secretary said the earliest appointment would be 4/20 while online scheduling showed 4/8. I told her that I had to see Dr. Kim by Friday according to a physician in the hospital. Plus, I felt horrible because of my stomach pain, nausea and extreme fatigue and needed a treatment as soon as possible. So, she called me back and set up an appointment for that Fri 3/18/16. During the visit, Dr. Kim told me that I had to do a biopsy right away and I needed to start the treatment as soon as the biopsy result gets back. Otherwise, the longer I wait, the worse my condition will be.After seeing me, Dr. Kim told the office manager to request for an urgent authorization from my insurance for a biopsy and he needed to see me back in 2 weeks since it would take 5-7 days for the result to get back. He also mentioned to her that I was hospitalized. At the end of the day, I called the office to check if she submitted the paper work and asked if I needed to stop taking the turmeric supplement for the biopsy. She said it would take 2-3 days for her to submit the paper work. She yelled at me for not asking the doctor about the turmeric. I told her that I forgot because I was very sick, tired and disoriented due to my illness. She asked why I didn't have someone with me to help me. She said I lost my chance of asking since I was done with my visit. She would try to ask Dr. Kim when she sees him. She also said that if I felt that bad, I should had gone back to the hospital. On Monday 3/21, she still didn't submit the paper work to insurance yet. On Tuesday 3/22, I called the insurance company to check, she put it in as a routine procedure which would take 7-14 days to approve instead of 1-2 days for an urgent request. Plus, she requested to have it done at UCI which was not even in my group. It would take even longer for the insurance company to approve.I got so upset and called another GI doctor. I was able to see in him in 2 days, 3/24. On the same day, his office staff submitted the paper work in front of me and tried to schedule a biopsy for me the next day because she knew for sure my insurance would approve it right away. The hospital didn't have an opening the next day so I did it on Monday, 3/28. The result came back the next Monday, 4/4. The doctor called me back the same day and I was able to take some medicine that same day. So, it took only 1 week and a half from the time seeing the doctor to the time I received some medicine. From the time I saw this doctor until now, the doctor and his office staff have called me numerous times to check on me and follow up on my routine lab work with my treatment.Until now, 5/2/16, a month and a half later after seeing Dr. Kim, there has been no phone call whatsoever from Dr. Kim's office about the turmeric supplement, biopsy or my health condition. I guess they don't really care much about their patients' health or feelings.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
