Patricia Cavender's Online Review Report Card

If I can Dr. Cavender 0 stars, I would. I went to see Dr. Cavender to check if I had any concerning spots on my face and for a skin tag on my cheek. She told me she can remove the skin tag off my face which I proceeded to ask if this would cost me and she said NO since it was mask-related. My skin tag was so minor (see pic) I would not have proceeded to have it removed if it was going to cost me. 3 months later, I get a bill for $200+ for the procedure which she told me she would not charge me for. I called the office to dispute the bill and the receptionist said someone will call me back (no one did). One week later, my credit card was charged WITHOUT my consent. I called the office and they told me to call their billing department. I called their billing department and they told me to call the Arcadia office. It is super frustrating calling back and forth to get the charges reversed. Today I get a call from Amber at the Arcadia office telling me Dr. Cavender "adamantly denies" she told me it was mask-related. How would I have come up with it being mask-related since I have no idea how the skin tag got there? I find this office completely unethical in their business practice and will be reporting them to the BBB. Also, she ATTEMPTED to remove the skin tag, I still have it on my face see pic) I should not be paying for something that they charged me for and it is still there.

I was quite surprised when this doctor walked into the examination room without even saying hello. I found her bedside manner to be lacking. She took up most of the time typing on the computer, rather than addressing the medical issue.

I saw Dr. Cavender while living in Pasadena for 3+ years; Last year I moved back to the east coast and truly miss her and her staff. She is the most thorough dermatologist that I've ever seen and has an excellent bed side manner. Stephen

Spends time with you not only to listen to you but to make sure you understand what you need to be doing if necessary.

I think she is a very textbook doctor. My body was in a horrible condition during both visits with very severe eczema, and her (textbook) solution was topical steroids for both visits; a weaker topical steroid (to my usual prescription) for the 1st visit and Prednisone (oral steroids) for the 2nd visit. Nothing was meaningfully effective and I actually had to disobey her instructions in order to go into recovery, which was stopping all topical steroid usage. My body was addicted to steroid ointments (TSW), which explains why some of the most potent steroids have little effect on me. Her response to my worsening eczema was that she just didn't know, and she then quickly reverted to the textbook advice, "more steroid ointments" or "stronger steroid ointments" which I have heard throughout my whole life. I have been off the steroid drug for 4 months, only using moisturizers, and initially the symptoms of withdrawal were intense, with one of the worst eczema I've ever experienced, but now, my body is slowly recovering and the progress is showing.

As a patient of Dr. Cavender, I am very satisfied how well I am treated with her, and her staff. They are pleasant, rooms are clean and the appointment times run a little longer than normal at times, but I am still glad to come and wait.

As a referral from a good friend who had previous work done, I requested and made an appointment. Dr. Cavender is gracious and worked on my little imperfections and am happy with the results! Coming again.
