List of Prema Kothandaraman's Reviews
Idk what everyone is tripping about but this facility is super nice, all the ladies here are so adorable and welcoming. The restroom had a really nice view too! They disinfect everything in front of me and listened to all my concerns. The doctor was energetic and very easy to talk to!
The office policies and the way that Dr. Kothandaraman runs her practice are dishonest and consistently place money ahead of the patient. I had a similar IUD experience as another reviewer - first, it took forever to get an appointment for IUD insertion. I had to keep calling to check whether the IUD was "approved" by my insurance, and because my insurance didn't pay ahead of time for it, the office quoted a $1000 deposit for IUD insertion. I called my insurance and they assured me that everything would be covered as a preventative service due to the Affordable Care Act. I ended up doing it, and it took THREE MONTHS and many phone calls to the billing office for me to finally get a refund for my $1000 deposit. It is ridiculous that they place this much burden on the patient when the service is guaranteed to be 100% covered by the insurance. I have also had multiple medications prescribed that were non-formulary - first the doctor would hand me a "free sample" but then the refill would come at a high out of pocket cost. This happened with my birth control prescription and an antibiotic gel I was recommended after my IUD, which I did not end up taking. Looking at the medical literature, routine use of prophylactic antibiotics is not even recommended for IUD placement. I'm not sure why she would feel the need to prescribe this to me, except for some financial incentive from the pharmaceutical company. To top this all off, her bedside manner made me feel even more awkward in an inherently awkward situation. Listen to the other reviews and seek care elsewhere.
I came to Kothandarama in 2016 to have my daughter delivered in 2017, so this review is well overdue. I had a normal and healthy pregnancy. She decided to induce me to reduce risk or preeclampsia. Being my first pregnancy, I naively agreed. So many asked why I was being induced being that I was so healthy. Well, I get to Huntington Memorial on induction day and the nurses began to run BP, and are hooking me up to the equipment that reads baby's HB. "Why are you here?", "why are you being induced?". Me: you know at this point, I don't even know myself, I'm experiencing a normal and healthy pregnancy. The nurses ask if I'd like to phone Kothandarma and ask if I could go home and wait for baby to come at her own natural time. I phone her and well, guess what? She is working on a C-section in the operating room just down stairs. She induced me to get me out of the way. Like this is a business for her. She does not care about her patients. She is here for an in and out service!!! After getting yelled at by her for calling and even asking, I get induced 4 days early. This is not what birthing is about. You wait for baby to come when she's ready. She did this to get me out of her calendar. This is a business for her. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR BABY. She is a heartless cold blooded dog.
The Doctor herself is good but her office policies are ridiculous. The office staff are extremely incompetent. I have had a month of going back and forth, my insurance has assured me and the office that the IUD I am getting is 100% covered under the preventative services Healthcare Reform Bill. This includes all co-pays related to a removal and insertion.I had to pay a copay to remove one, after going back and forth there is now a refund "on file." I am now being asked to pay a $1,000 deposit for the IUD when my insurance will pay it 100%. Why the deposit? It's their company policy and I need to speak to their billing department. How can I do that if they are not answering my calls? My appointment for the insertion of an IUD was canceled without my knowledge. I found out because I followed the link on my text, that confirmed my appointment and it said CANCELED. I would have taken time off my work to go to a canceled appointment? This whole thing should have been so much easier than they are making it out to be. I will be calling my insurance to get a new referral to a more competent OB/GYN office.
Dr prema is a great doctor..She takes the time to go over your results I don't feel her to be rushing.. i feel she gets to know her patients real quick with out seen her many times.Today I got her assistant and she also was a great doctor!! Some of her staff are always smiling and they come to check and keep you updated if the doctor is taking a little long time to come in to see you! The nurse even offer me water. She was so nice!
I never really write medical reviews but this was one of the worst visits I have ever experienced. I was rushed through my yearly exam , this was my first ever visit with my doctor and she didn't ask me ANY health questions. She was in the room for maybe 5 mins and had no time to talk. When I expressed different issues I was having she said I was fine. It was a waste of time , now i need to find a new doctor .
I was charged $250 cash for a sonogram my healthcare was also billed for. Not cool Will never go back
Horrible doctor. She's lazy and doesn't want to do her job correctly. Having chronic pelvic pain is bad enough already as it is and having to deal with uncaring doctors like her makes it worse. Horrible horrible place.
I am beyond disappointed in this Doctor. I came in for horrible pelvic pain that has lasted 3 years but all Dr. Prema did was tell me "your organs look normal" and then told me to just exercise my pain away after asking me if I had "gained any weight". I left in tears and sore from her man-handling. Not only that but she also told me to "look up youtube videos" for stretching my pelvic floor. Ma'am!?? If I could had just exercised my pain away I wouldn't be coming to you??? Don't you think I already tried that?? I am speechless by the lack of professionalism and empathy from this place.
I have been seen by Dr. prima From March until November I find out that I was pregnant and unfortunately it was a non-fetal heartbeat and the prima nurse Erica in the office refused to bill my insurance for a medicine to help me miscarriage ru486 medicine out of pocket is 250$ So she asked me to leave the room so she can use it for her next client and I'll talk to the nurse at front. This is a Tuesday. As I'm going back-and-forth The following day that the prima has surgery so she didn't get back to me until Thursday after talking to my insurance and it was billed on my insurance for the medication I needed she is trying to convince me she felt sorry for me and just gave me the medicine I needed which was ru486.So I took the pill in the office that day and I had an appointment to come back and see her November 7 as I had my appointment she verify that my uterus was clean and there's no fetal tissue inside. I expressed to herI don't appreciate how I was treated we went back-and-forth but for the most part I had to clear that I did not have no feet of tissue and me two weeks later I go to the emergency room wet stomach pain come to find out I still have more fetal tissue she misdiagnosed me So I had to Under go a DNC Because of lack of her caring to check me out properly be my phone if you don't have the money to pay at hand right then and there she was not properly treat you!3232701282 If you had any questions feel free to call.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
