List of Andrew Ross's Reviews
Ive been seeing Doctor Ross for several years now, and highly recommend him as a Primary Care Physician. He helped diagnose a condition that was missed by other doctors, and his treatment and advice has always been incredibly accurate. Beyond that, he seems to really care and take time to listen to his patients.
I took my 88 year old Mother in establish New Patient status. She is now staying with me since CoVid, I couldnt send her back to Michigan. We saw Dr. Rosss Nurse Practitioner, Smith. He checked my Mom over, ordered labs and was billed $430. We came back for our lab results, a scheduled visit and was given a wellness test (basically a Dementia test), we werent asked if we would like it, we werent told, they just did it and they billed Medicare $300. In fact they informed us it was required which is not true. I am appalled at this unprofessional Gouging. I plan on writing the Medical Board.
Dr. Andrew Ross is an amazing doctor, he cares, listens carefully, diagnose, and then tells in plain language whats wrong and how we cure it. He has been my doctor over 20 years and even at times my insurance was not accepted at his office, I still had to see him. He is worth it. I trust him and his knowledge and very thankful that he is my doctor.
The office staff is the worst Ive ever had to deal with. Trying to leave critical message for the doctor was impossible. I left three messages for my doctor and told the office staff the messages were critical. Not one of those messages made it through to my doctor.I called and left a message for Dr. Ross to contact me to discuss the problems That was never accomplished because the office staff refuses to leave my message for Dr. Ross. Wait time to even leave a message was impossible because the office staff claims they have 11 lines and only one person to answer. Awful office management. I would never recommend this medical practice if you want good and normal service. Try calling yourself and see how long you have to wait just to get through the someone.
Absolutely an excellent Dr! I highly recommend Dr.Andrew Ross. My husband and I have gone to his office for about three years and we are very pleased with his professionalism and services. Dr Ross is very talented, respectful, caring and he has a great sense of humor.
Dr. Andrew Ross is an extremely knowledgable, personable care taker. I have been under the care of Dr. Ross since the mid 1990s. He has supported me through a number of medical issues, pointed me in the direction of other care providers where it met up against the boundaries of his expertise (surgeons), and has never failed to make me smile. I deeply appreciate his medical opinions and his humble approach to sticky problems. At my last visit, I commented to Dr. Ross about his courteous and professional front office staff. I moved from Oakland to San Francisco in 2012 and make the trip to maintain my relationship with Dr. Ross.
Dr Ross is a terrific man and a great doctor. Everything you read here is true. He is patient, caring, and realistic about treatment. I feel fortunate to be his patient. But dealing with his staff can be a nightmare. Theyre incompetent and refuse to correct things when they are obviously wrong. Worse, theyre surly bordering on outright nasty to patients. I know its difficult to work with some of the people that come through this office. And I know its difficult to find good staff in Berkeley these days. But someone really needs to step up here and work with the staff on improving.
After reading the quite discordant reviews I wanted to put in my two cents. I was Dr. Ross patient for 15 years before I had to change PCP physicians because of a diagnosis and needing to change insurance carriers. I always found him to be caring, smart, and dedicated. In fact now that I have switched to Medicare I am switching back to him after a seven year absence and after two absolutely horrible PCP doctors. One seemed only focused on insurance fraud and booking me every three weeks for no reason. The other was so antipill he thought everything could be controlled by diet and exercise including my high blood pressure, which it cant and my last interaction with him was when all I needed was a referral requested by my oncologist for someone to give me some injections which ended up with this Dr yelling at me on the phone because he couldnt even do that. I can put up with a little inefficiency from office staff to see an MD like Dr. Ross rather than deal with useless MDs like those. Ive never had any of these insurance or billing issues with Dr. Ross, so I cant speak to that but I would agree the office help and those who answer the phones (when they do) definitely leave room for improvement. Perhaps the most obvious compliment I can give him is that even after my diagnosis and leaving his practice, he would call to see how I was doing. Who does that?(this text is for Yelp staff upon review other reviewers have mentioned an online portal thing or email but I have searched high and low and cant find it on your site or on google search. can you post that information?)
Awesome Doctor! Dr. Ross is very wise, great sense of humor and genuine. I felt very relaxed and comfortable talking to him. He is very thorough and is the first doctor to ever call me personally just to follow-up with me. He doesn’t just treat you like another patient, he treats you like a friend!
his receptionist is the worst, extremely rude and unprofessional. No medical treatment is worth having to deal with her.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
