Dr. Pessoa has been a miracle worker for me. I see her when my skin disease gets out of control. Her office staff is always very kind to me - even though I may not have called for a year and I need to see the doctor right away. I have a rare skin disease that can become emergent with very little warning. When it is emergent, it is an ordeal... there is no simple fix. Dr. Pessoa has always been able to accommodate my emergent need. Not one person in that office has ever said it was inconvenient. They have been so gracious towards me. Since I am allergic or resistant to all antibiotics, it is very important that I get my situation under control before it turns into a nasty infection - so she is my lifesaver. When Dr. Pessoa is working on me, we frequently talk about my general health. She often has excellent insight into these other problems. If she can handle my skin disease, she can handle anything. She really has saved me from a lot of suffering by seeing me. She is an excellent doctor and I love the people who work for her.

Everyone ,from the front office (Toiya) to the assistant (Mi-Ra) are helpful and polite. Dr Pessoa is knowledgeable and compassionate. Can be difficult to get in, but worth it.

Best dermatology office ever, and I know quite a few. I had something strange on my wrist and Helen and Dr. Pessoa both figured it out and then hounded my insurance on my behalf! I am sending my entire family there, and we all love this office.

My mother was referred to Dr. Pessoa by her primary physician, and during the visit I was impressed by how sensitive and caring she was. I later became a patient, and I could not be happier with the care I have received. In fact, I moved over 200 miles away, and I have kept her as my doctor. I have also found the staff to be very friendly and accomodating.

She had been my dermatologist for approximately 6 years and maybe she just had a bad day. But I thought most dermatologists want the most natural creams for your face. There was a product in the face cream that most doctors say can give you cancer if used for a prolonged period of time. I told her about it and she sharply said to me, "Maybe you need a different doctor, someone who deals with holistic medicines." I did not expect that sort of reaction. I mean we are in Berkeley after all. And my husband died of cancer a year prior. When I got to my car I started crying. I never went back to her office.
