List of Lifelong Health Center's Reviews
I was so hopeful for this organization! After all their name is what I need. I selected them because they seemed to have an abundance of gerontologists. When I requested one for my first appt, the scheduler must have heard "greenest doctor you have" because I got one who graduated med school after my own daughter graduated with her PhD. She was not a gerontologist. I reluctantly agreed to the 15 min appt, during which the "green-doctor" gave me two bits of wrong information. They don't listen. They don't seem to even read. They are not responsive. They held me hostage while waiting for a referral. Oh, and their phone system is the worst I've encountered in 71 years and is manned by a slew of people who are incredibly rude!Their name should be changed to Lifelong Deadly over 60 Health CenterAvoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid!Look at the date of these reviews. Apparently, this place has gone downhill!
My loved one has stomach cancer. As a Lifelong Over 60 patient, he was denied a referral to UCSF for cancer treatment. Lifelong incorrectly wrote him up as having colon cancer! The Lifelong doctor saw him VIA ZOOM ONLY (after he received his cancer diagnosis via a report in the patient portal!), was inattentive and careless… and proceeded to totally bungle the oncology referral. (Thankfully, he and his family challenged the denial and he is now in treatment.)Earlier in the year, when he presented with symptoms, he had struggled to capture the interest and concern of the Lifelong Over 60 physician who “examined” him (also via Zoom). He had to persist quite forcefully before they would order diagnostic scans.Long story short, Lifelong Over 60 was no better than no provider at all. Their patient lost precious time getting treatment. AVOID!!
My aunt was hit by a car last year and came to this center seeking advice and a referral for physical therapy. Despite having an appointment, she was refused to be seen and told she would be contacted to fill out an income questionnaire (she is 70+ years old and unemployed) before she could be seen. I've called lifelong nearly 10 times since November 2021 (Now January 2022), asking to provide them with whatever information necessary so my aunt could be seen for her debilitating pain that makes her unable to walk, and they have never returned my call. They also refuse to make a new appointment without said income information.
Yes my doctor left I haven’t been assigned to a new doctor I’m in redraws from Suboxone therapy I haven’t been able to get anyone to order me some more because Dr. Nguyen left and they finally I told him specifically to call it to CVS pharmacy in Greenbrae but of course they couldn’t get that right so they called it in to the Safeway Pharmacy in San Rafael which I knew didn’t have it so I don’t understand how they could be so pathetic and not deal with this I’m in extreme distress from withdrawals I’ve had a call up like 10 times already and when they finally got around to sending a prescription they sent it to the wrong pharmacy. I don’t understand how somebody can be so incompetent and still be a healthcare provider. I need the number to the grievance department. I only go there because they take Medicare and Medi-Cal and I can’t afford a real doctor!
I called today to find out where I will be on the vaccine priority list and they ignored my question, said we won't be getting the vaccine until spring of next year and we will notify you when we get it. I repeated that I want to know what priority guidelines they are going to be using when they get the vaccine and they hung up on me. I had legally recorded the call. I am waiting for Ericka Garcia-Maldonado, the head of the clinic, to return my call so I can complain about the person who hung up on me and find out whose or what guidelines they are going to be following. It is absurd to expect me to wait until they have the vaccine in their hands before telling me what their policy is. I will change providers if they refuse to tell me and you should too. I am calling the governors office to complain too.
If you want a doctor that doesn't listen to you or believe you, this is the place for you. Very insensitive to my needs, not knowledgeable about my condition, I'm looking for an herbalist in SF Chinatown and continuing to be my own doctor by searching the internet. I'm beyond disappointed.
I have wanted to update my review of Over 60 Health Center for awhile, and this difficult time of the present pandemic has provided that moment. I continue to feel very fortunate to have been introduced to Over 60. I would like to mention my present Primary Care Physician, Dr. Doug Crawford for his warmth and remarkable breadth of knowledge which he always generously imparts in an informative, understandable manner in an effort to keep one abreast of one's personal health issues. Also Jesse Merjil, for his guidance, information and noble spirit. And thanks to all others I have interacted with that make the Over 60 Health Center an efficient and friendly experience.
This is one of the worst medical facilities in the Bay Area. They DO NOT honor their mission statement. They are extremely rude to caregivers. They lie about the work they do. You cannot get an appointment when needed. They claim to do home visits but will cancel your appointment one hour before the doctor is due to arrive. They say they listen to the patients but when I requested a new doctor, REQUEST DENIED! When I said don’t send Dr. Pharma they sent her anyway! So if you want good medical care from a doctor who listens to patients and is genuinely concerned for your wellbeing, This is not the place to take your love one. PERIOD........
I don't know what happened to this place. I had been pleased with the dedication of the staff, although they clearly don't have much of a budget, and I was continuing to go there even after I got private health insurance with many more options. If I had a problem, someone in the clinic would see me promptly. However, a couple weeks ago I came down with a mysterious illness. I tried to get into the clinic repeatedly, but neither my doctor nor any support staff could work me in without a wait of days or weeks. Because I had no other options, I kept going back to urgent care (both Lifelong and Alta Bates) repeatedly. Finally, when I went to Alta Bates urgent care the last time, last weekend, they evaluated my condition and called 911 to take me to the Alta Bates emergency room. I was admitted to the hospital, and they determined I had Legionnaires disease. This is a life threatening illness, and I'm grateful to the Alta Bates staff for diagnosis and treatment, and putting me on the road to recovery.Ironically, I got a call from the clinic this week when I was in the hospital canceling the appointment I had made for next week (by now a moot point). I told the person who called that I was already in the hospital, and I asked why it had been so difficult for me to be seen by someone in the clinic. She said it was because they were changing over computer systems (??!!)Thankfully, with the private insurance I now have, I've been able to schedule an appointment for next week, after I'm released from the hospital, with a new primary care provider. So BE WARNED: this clinic has abdicated it's responsibility to provide reasonable health care. Quite frankly, they should shut down or be shut down. I can say, speaking quite literally, that if you depend on this clinic for healthcare, YOU COULD DIE. I
Avoid. The clinic used to be good, but is now bad. I get the impression most doctors who are there do not want to work there. The doctors work very short hours. If you ask your doctor to phone you, the doctor will never phone you. Other than medications, referrals are very difficult to get. The receptionists are good at answering the phone, but they can do nothing for you if you want to talk to your doctor other than send the doctor a message, who does not respond. It is really pathetic. Look elsewhere.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
