Susan Housand is magic! She's such a gentle, knowledgeable practitioner and soul. I've benefited greatly with her treatment. She always has a tip or recommendation that I follow and it works and has helped me mind, body and soul. I can't say enough good things about her. Highly recommend her.

Had my initial intake appointment with Susan today and would like to share. The appointment started exactly on time, And I loved that I didn’t have to fill out a bunch of information on a clipboard as so, often happens when I go to doctors offices for the initial visit . I came in and we got straight down to business. Susan considered me holistically (my physical and mental/emotional state, inquired about my exercise habits, work/life, diet, sleep, stressors, etc…). Based on the digital intake form which I and our conversations during the appointment, Susan recommended experimenting with a variety of behaviors which could be integrated into activities I already do over the course of my day such that they can more likely become habits without taking more of my limited time. She emailed me a list of resources to read/review about said practices and points of view so I could learn more. She reiterated multiple times that I should find the things that work for **me** and was never prescriptive or pushy in any way about her recommendations and ideas. The space itself was clean, uncluttered, simple, and unpretentious. And the treatment room was a very comfortable temperature, and the size of the room felt safe and secure. It easy to relax in. During the treatment, Susan thoroughly explained everything she was doing before she began and maintained a professional yet warm, calm, unhurried and caring demeanor throughout. At the end of the appointment, she did not push me to make additional appointments and invited me to set things up as desired and when/if I was ready. The overall experience was excellent. I plan to make some follow up appointments to see how things go and I recommend her services to others without reservation.

I feel so grateful to be under the care of Susan. She is a talented, knowledgable, evidence based, empathetic practitioner. Since I've started to see her my health has improved and I've learned so much about my body. I often see the positive impacts of her work immediately, or within a day or two of seeing her. Under her care and encouragement I have built more capacity to take care of and feel compassion for my body. I really appreciate that Susan is communicative and curious about my experience, and shares her knowledge in a way that helps us be partners in my health journey. I find myself looking forward to going to my acupuncture appointments every week! I also appreciate that Pip and Marrow is run so well - it's easy to schedule appointments, the office is bright and lovely, and it's easy to get in touch. It's just all around a delightful experience, and I cannot recommend Pip + Marrow enough!

I have worked with Susan on and off since April 2021. She is a caring practitioner and practices active listening and I benefit from every treatment I have with her. Further beyond that, Susan is an excellent, reputable source for other types of care. She has given me recommendations for other providers and shared invaluable resources. I have learned so much from her, and love partnering with her as I work on my wellness goals.

Susan. What an amazing person and thoughtful practitioner. First, we had a video consult. I was expecting 15 minutes but we chatted for an hour. I was already impressed. Susan is warm and caring, even by video. Once I was able to have an in-person appointment, everything I felt in our video consult became cemented. Susan is genuine and she listens. Even before our acupuncture session began, I was again impressed. She remembered that I run hot and even turned up the A/C to help make me comfortable. Additionally, she did not burn a candle because I had mentioned my issues with fragrances. I could go on... I am just saying, if you need a beautiful soul to help heal you and your body, go see Susan! I am very much so looking forward to our journey together as she helps ease all of my pain.

This review is way overdue. I feel very fortunate to have found Susan as my acupuncturist. I first met her at Blue Ova during one of my early visits for fertility treatment. I was really drawn to her from the very first session and really gained trust due to her subject knowledge, care for her patients, ability to listen and advice. She is very caring, personable and always made sure I was comfortable during sessions, room temperature was to my liking and was very gentle with the treatment (needles). She always explained in detail the benefits of certain points on my body while placing the needles. I always felt very comfortable around her and considered her my friend. Her positivity and approachable character made it very easy for me to share my feelings and make her a part of my emotional ups and down. After getting treatment for about two months, I was able to conceive, but unfortunately I miscarried very early on in pregnancy. Susan not only became my friend, a guide and a shoulder to cry on but also gave me the courage to be strong during the most vulnerable time of my life. When I conceived again six months later, Susan really helped me throughout my pregnancy. First four months of my pregnancy, I suffered from severe morning sickness. I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 8 weeks. Along with acupuncture treatment, Susan went above and beyond and held my hand during my pregnancy journey by suggesting foods that I can eat, guiding me to take certain supplements to help with my conditions and being available via email. I always looked forward to seeing her and was excited to share my pregnancy progress with her. Her energy is exceptional. She always showed so much love and care towards me that made me feel very special. At times when I didn’t have any guidance, I used to email her with my issues and she always responded immediately with a solution or guidance. Susan was really a godsend for me. After Susan left Blue Ova, I continued my visits to her at her new clinic even though it involved crossing the bridge and was further away. It was very nice to see her having own clinic in Oakland. I kept going to Susan until I delivered my baby. Susan also followed up with me after my delivery and was interested in knowing how motherhood was going. Today, my daughter is five and a half months old and I am finally able to write a review about Susan. Overall, I highly recommend Susan! I feel like this review still doesn’t do justice on how amazing Susan is and the impact she had for me pre-pregnancy, through pregnancy and until this very day.
