Absolutely wonderful! Facilities are clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Staff is knowledgeable and kind. I feel truly cared for when I am there.
Both Laurie and Katie are local treasures. Whether you need treatment for pain and illness or dealing with life issues, I highly recommend trying a session. Laurie uses a combination of intuitive healing and energy work (often using sound) to unblock chakras and emotional issues. Katie specializes in acupuncture but also works with sound (e.g., tuning forks) to unblock energy flows. Together, they founded West Coast Acutonics and run classes and certification courses.
A healer for all ailments, deeply intuitive, with the warmth of the sun. Especially helpful with chronic illness and injuries.
After surfing about 157 days per year for many years my shoulders are sticky - type 2 shoulder impingement reduced my range of motion with daily pain. In about an hour Katie helped both - don't know how it all works but can't wait to get more work done on my knees. Highly recommend her professional healing services. Pretty amazing wizard at work here - five magic stars!
My life has changed in profound ways since I started going to the Bancroft Center less than a year ago. Katie Mink's skill with the acupuncture needles and tuning forks has helped me heal physically, emotionally and spiritually. I'm no longer in agony when doing ordinary things like climbing stairs or gardening. Katie is supportive, nurturing and so giving of her time and knowledge. Her partner, Laurie Herron, works some kind of shamanic magic that facilitates psychic changes in ways that are subtle yet powerful. I barely recognize myself - in the best way possible - from the person who first walked into their office.
I have been seen Katie every other week for the past year for acutonics and acupuncture. I went to her at the beginning of a weight loss and fitness program, through which she was not only a great acupuncturist, but a phenomenal coach and guide. Having lost 60 pounds though a combination of Katie's help, and changes in diet and exercise regimen, I am continuing to visit Katie to stay balanced and healthy. I hope to continue to work with Katie forever if I can! Her treatments and care are truly life impacting and helpful. I cannot recommend Katie highly enough to anyone who would like to explore Eastern medicine and health practices.
If you want to feel serene, go see Katie or Laurie. When you enter the Bancroft Center, that's where a sense of letting go starts. They have made a space of calm, separated from the outside world. The treatment you receive is a deeply considered one: In no way is it generic - the focus is entirely on you for the period of time you have given them. The work, itself, is subtle and at first you might not be aware of how deep it goes. When you leave, at the very least, you will feel "put together again," with a sense of well-being and an awareness of who you truly are. These women work miracles independent of pills and surgeries. I'm in my eighties and a retired R.N. I have studied many "complimentary medicine" techniques. All I can say is Katie and Laurie are among the top few of their profession, which is healing. I contracted chicken pox as an adult, and it wreaked havoc with my immune system. Over the course of the next year I got bronchitis (which I'd never had before) four times. It seemed like every time I breathed I picked up a cold, and every cold settled in my lungs, where it stayed for weeks until I'd finally go to Kaiser and get antibiotics. That would clear up the bronchitis, but the cycle would start again in less than a month. Finally, a friend recommended that I go see Katie Mink for acupuncture. I was hesitant, because I have a very low pain tolerance and a phobia of needles. However, the toll that chronic illness was taking on my body outweighed my fear, so I made an appointment. That decision changed my life. Katie is amazing! Her intake was very thorough. She asked about all kinds of things that the doctors who kept prescribing antibiotics never thought to check on - my eating habits, my sleep, my digestion, my emotional state, etc. Katie is a very good listener, and she really took the time to get to know me. By the time we were done talking, I knew that she was not going to simply treat my symptoms, but was going to treat me as a whole person. Katie was very understanding about my fear of needles. She immediately put me at ease by letting me know that most of the time acupuncture needles don't hurt, but that if one did then all I had to do was let her know and she'd take it out. Her bedside manner is so calm, soothing, and non-judgmental that I felt completely comfortable letting her "poke" me. And to my surprise, for the most part the needles didn't hurt. In fact, I found the whole experience quite relaxing. The best part was that it worked! That was over 15 years ago, and since I started seeing Katie I've never had another bout of bronchitis. At first I went for acupuncture every couple of weeks to get my immune system functioning properly again. Then I went once a month for a while, then once every couple of months, and now I just go in to see Katie for a "tune up" whenever I feel the need. Over the years Katie has helped me with everything from allergies to digestive troubles to tendonitis to peri-menopausal symptoms. No matter what the complaint, I always leave her office feeling better. I think that the benefits of working with Katie are threefold. First, her education and experience make her an exceptionally skilled acupuncturist. Second, she has extensive knowledge about Chinese herbal medicines, nutrition, and other therapeutic modalities to support the work she does. And finally (and perhaps most importantly) she is such a warm, compassionate person that simply being in her presence is healing. I would highly recommend Katie Mink to everyone.
I've had several other people do acupuncture on me and Katie Mink is the best. I just wish she was closer to where I live. I don't even feel the needles when Katie inserts them. I visit her for chronic neck and shoulder pain & I always walk feeling a whole lot better. In other words pain free. I highly recommend her. She is an amazing practitioner and knows exactly what she is doing.
Katie Mink is profoundly amazing! She is generous with her time, knowledge and support. She is full of information from her education, life experience and travel, that she shares freely and abundantly. Katie interweaves, as appropriate, Acupuncture, Acutonics (www.acutonics.com), essential oils, suggestions, visuals and much more to help you along your journey. I remember the very first session I had with Katie, she was working on a burn that I had with the Acutonics forks and she said, "allow the vibration to help melt and soften". This visual has become one of my mantra's in much that I do everyday. The Bancroft Center of Chinese Medicine, is clean, organized, calm and full of good energy. The office is stocked with a full herbal selection, patent, powder and raw. There are great books in the waiting area for you to sink into while awaiting your profound session. I promise, you will come out of your session(s) shifted. Book one today! 510.849.1809

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
