List of City Of Angels Dermatology - Mavis W Billips Md Mph's Reviews
Trying to book an appointment as a new patient. Their office does not return calls and the new patient sign-on portal does not work. I left multiple messages. Their phone system is not helpful. In addition, no one return your email when you leave messages on their on-line portal.
The other person reviewing the Billips is completely accurate! Mavis offers patients nothing beyond the most basic cursory skin exams AND she denies and poo-poos your conditions, ignoring them entirely! Brushing them off to age and gaslighting you, saying you don't have any problems! She's a fraud! It's a clam shell game with her and you won't find any care there. I saw her at Cedars Sinai and she was literally running 2 hours late. I should have left and wish I saw all these awful reviews sooner. She ignored all of my needs, wrote a prescription without consulting me for something I tried before and hadn't worked, and blasted in and out of the patient room 5 times without knocking! I had to correct her repeatedly, telling her to always knock and stop scaring me, but she literally blasted into my room, unannounced while I was in my underwear! The rudeness is outrageous! She feels entitled to disrespect patients constantly! Maybe it's a race issue... And threaten their health! She didn't wash her hands before OR after touching my skin and face! How gross! This is how patients contract illnesses and medical clinics. You have been warned! Go elsewhere! Or better yet, do your own naturopathic research online. You'll find exactly what you need.
Dr. Billips was extremely thorough and took the time to explain in detail and answer all questions. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment of check-in. The waiting room was clean and comfortable
I went to her Long Beach office her receptionist Ankafa was delightful and welcoming:) Dr Billips is so kind and explained everything thing she can do to help me with my autoimmune decease , I'm definitely gonna keep coming back :)
Dr. Billips is always in a rush, won't even entertain patient's and parents' questions. The clinic won't even make a follow-up result on a biopsy that was done for my daughter until we made an appointment a year after. The only thing that's nice about going here is the location and the late hours they have for a day if coming from work as you don't need to have your kid leave school early too. Aside from that doctor isn't helpful at all.
We had a very unfortunate experience here. The office manager was insistent on taking a scan of our credit card even though we have coverage that covers us 100% without a co-pay. We were there for an approved visit. The office manager was extremely rude when challenged on this credit card policy. The doctor peeked-around the partition, but would not come out to speak with us. This was an extremely frustrating experience. We will never go here again and hope that others can be spared the unpleasantness of going to this office.
I absolutely love Dr Billips! I’ve been seeing her for over 10 years and recommended her to my sister, a friend AND my boss, and all are happy
VERY CONCERNING BEHAVIOR. whoever said that lady a doctor, lied. And folks interacting with her on a daily basis too should be examined because something is wrong lol no medical no profession. Very concerning.
When you actually get to sit and speak with the doctor she is great. Unfortunately she doesn't have time to oversee her staff and they don't respond to phone calls or emails so I have tried for the past month to get a follow up appointment as the doctor instructed and have been unable to do so after about 7 separate emails and calls. Her staff is taking advantage of her and giving her practice a bad name. I was forced to find a different Dermatologist that I can actually make appointments with when necessary. I hope she Dr Billips can get higher quality people for her scheduling. She is losing money over this.
***Read the reviews and do yourself a favor by avoiding this clinic*** My recent experience at City of Angels Dermatology was, without a doubt, one of the most frustrating and unprofessional encounters I've ever had with a medical facility. I initially chose this clinic because my insurance referred me to them. They confirmed that they accept my insurance plan with both, my insurance rep and with myself when I called to make the appointment, so I went ahead and made an appointment to go see Dr. Mavis W Billips. On the day of my appointment I showed up at 8:30am. They claimed not to have received the referral, which added a three-hour wait to my morning. I waited there for those 3 hours and by lunchtime, Dr. Mavis emerged and informed me that we needed to reschedule because it was her lunch break. I declined, only to be informed abruptly that they no longer accepted my insurance. This level of inconsistency and mismanagement is entirely unacceptable. My entire morning was wasted, and I was met with rudeness and disrespect from both Dr. Mavis and the the practice manager MR. Martin Glenn Billips, who literally told me "you're not worth my time". It's evident that patient care and professionalism are not a priority here. My insurance has already filed a grievance and I only hope no one else has to go through this. I strongly advise avoiding Dr. Mavis and Dr. Martin at all costs. Read the reviews and do yourself a favor. Your time and sanity are worth more than this.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
