I am a 38-year-old woman with hooded eyes that I inherited from my father. Although they are beautiful in their own way, my eyes started to become more hooded and my lid creases more uneven. In my mid-thirties, I began to research the possibility of getting an upper blepharoplasty, and even consulted talented surgeons that were located closer to me on the east coast. The more I researched, the more I realized that it was necessary to go to an eye-lid specialist rather than a general facial plastic surgeon. The unevenness could be ptosis, which requires an oculoplastic surgeon. In less capable hands, a surgeon could change the very nature of my hooded eyes through over-resection of skin, or even worse the resection of fat and muscle. I worried about looking “done” or “fake.”My extensive research led me to Dr. Massry: a true eyelid specialist, a master in the field of oculoplastics, an author of oculoplastic textbooks, and a teacher to the next generation of oculoplastic surgeons and facial plastic surgeons. He is a revision specialist, which means he fixes the blepharoplasty mistakes of other surgeons around the country. Dr. Massry’s experience as a revision specialist means that he knows how to get a surgery right the first time.Throughout our consultation, Dr Massry said that, while he could make my hooded eyes 20 to 40 percent more open, he would not change the nature of my eye shape. He went on to explain that an over-aggressive surgery leads to greater complications that could inhibit the natural functioning of the eye. I appreciated our conversation about what was possible and what was safe. I was lucky enough to have my mom--an anesthesiologist who has seen many surgeries and surgeons--at the consultation with me. After Dr. Massry left the room, my mother turned to me and said, “That was a good consult. If you are going to do the surgery, I would do it with Dr. Massry.”I did the surgery ten days ago and the results were better than I could have imagined. I have more open eyes that comport with the natural shape of my bedroom eyes. The lids are even and flow nicely with my face. Today, I have one crease, rather than many creases. The scar continues to heal nicely and is hidden in my new crease. And, my eyes function well (i.e., no dry eyes or lid closure issues). Doctor Massry is a brilliant surgeon capable of making the impossible...possible. I had seen & consulted with numerous doctors who were either unwilling or simply unable to perform what Dr Massry ultimately did.My right eye was damaged extensively from a botched lower Blepharoplasty I had done a couple years earlier. Several attempts had been made to repair the problem including other surgeries,procedures etc. Nothing worked. If anything it made an already horrible problem even worse.That is until I found Dr Massry. From the moment I met him I knew I was in the right place. He just has a way about him that immediately puts you at ease. That said,He was always up front & direct with me regarding my unique situation... what my options were and what I could realistically expect post surgery including my recovery time etc.Dr Massry and his fantastic team did an outstanding job. The surgery turned out great. Now that it’s done I can’t picture even considering trusting anyone else. Surgery is never an easy decision especially when it’s a surgery to repair another doctors work. At a certain point... you get a little gun shy to attempt any surgery at all. That’s how I felt anyways. The flip side was... I couldn’t live with it the way it was. I hated looking at myself. My right eye drooped down with no lash line. Just an open red scary looking Halloween costume that didn’t work the other 364 days of the year.Dr Massry gave me my life back and I can’t possibly thank him enough.Choosing a Surgeon has to be one of the toughest choices you’ll ever have to make.All I can tell you is this... I had my choice of just about anyone & looked just about everywhere. It didn’t come down to price or geographical distance. Cause I would have gone just about anywhere & paid just about anything. For me it came down to who is the best period. For me it was simple. Guy Massry is simply the best. He is an oculoplastic surgeon... of the highest level who specializes in the impossible.I hope to never be in the same situation again but if I ever was I would never trust my ocular surgical needs to anyone else. Dr Massry and his staff were very friendly and professional. You get a sense that they care about you as a person and make the experience very personal. I am 100% happy with my results and would gladly recommend him to anyone!

I had several botched eye surgeries in buffalo, NY so I decided to go out of state for one last attempt at fixing my watery eyes. After much research, I narrowed my choice to Dr Massry and another doctor at the Cleveland clinic. I met with both and both seemed knowledgable, but there was far more personal attention from Dr. Massry. Dr. Massry gave me his personal email address and his cell number. The other doctor never even returned my calls and it was a project just getting through to anyone at his office. I concluded that the Cleveland Clinic was just too big and impersonal. Dr. Massry was upfront and explained that due to the fact that several other doctors already damaged my eyes, he was not able to promise 100 percent improvement. He asked if I would be happy with 50 percent improvement and I said yes. I went back to buffalo and did more research. After countless weeks of research, I learned that Dr. Massry was among the most respected oculoplastic eye surgeons in the world (you'd never know that by talking to him because he was so down to earth and not arrogant at all). I made by decision and flew to LA for one last surgery and I'm so happy I did because he did far better than 50 percent. Not only did he correct the watery eye problem that I had, but he made me look like my old self again. He truly is the best in his field and worth the travel from anywhere in the world. My only regret is that I didn't go to him initially.

Dr. Massry and his staff went out of there way to schedule me right away to take care of me after an accident with damage around my orbital eye. Great personality and master at his specialization! Dr. Massry recently performed an upper blepharoplasty on me. I am a 50-year-old male. About 3 years ago, I noticed that the skin that forms the eyelid crease between my brow and lashes was starting to fall and lose its curvature and it eventually began resting below my eye lash line. This decent of the skin had two adverse effects. First, the shape of my eyes changed to a more compressed and less aesthetic shape. Second, the skin was weighing down and irritating my eye lids – especially in the evenings when I would blink more often to try and keep this fallen skin off my lashes.To address this issue, I had met with a few oculoplastic surgeons, all with great reputations, before my initial consultation with Dr. Massry. Within 15 minutes of speaking with Dr. Massry, a few things become apparent. Dr. Massry truly has a passion for what he is doing. Also, you sense that his priority is the ultimate happiness of each patient. He explained to me very clearly what could be realistically achieved given the anatomy of my eyes and surrounding skin. His described outcome was appealing to me as it addressed my eye issues. So based on this meeting, Dr. Massry built my trust and gave me confidence to select him to perform the procedure. I had another appointment with Dr. Massry about a week prior to surgery so we could again discuss the specifics and objectives of my procedure since it had been a few months since our initial consultation.My surgery was scheduled for first thing in the morning. 15 minutes before surgery in an examination room, Dr. Massry and I discussed again for a final time exactly what he was going to do during the procedure. What impressed me at this time was the laser- like focus Dr. Massry exhibited: he was 100% focused on the task at hand.It is now a number of weeks after surgery. I can’t imagine how it could have turned out better. The revision to the skin above my eyes is exactly what he said the results would be and it actually looks better than how I ever imagined it. It is clear that Dr. Massry possesses hands that are beyond precise and an artistic eye that is able to uncover the full aesthetic potential of each person’s own specific eyes. Aside from the expected bruising and swelling following surgery which basically disappeared two weeks following surgery, I did not experience any complications from the surgery – my eyes and eyelids feel great.Additionally, Dr. Massry’s staff is very helpful, and his office is well run. The staff would always return a phone call or reply to an email promptly, before and after the surgery. Even though I would imagine that Dr. Massry and his staff service many patients, I never felt at any point I was just another patient: they always made me feel special. I am sure I’m not an exception and that all patients are treated like this.I would unequivocally and without hesitation recommend anyone who is considering improving the appearance of their eyes to meet Dr. Massry.

Kind, caring, and superbly skilled, Dr. Massry is at the pinnacle of his field. He did an amazing surgery for me, making my eyes look rejuvenated and 15 years younger. Couldn’t be more pleased. I’d highly recommend Dr. Massry to anyone — even my dear mother, who might want a blepharoplasty if she were still alive — without hesitation.

I wanted to take the time out of my day to write a few words regarding not just the professionalism but the expertise of Dr. Massry. I myself am a board certified physician who did months and months of research to find a specialist that could correct the lower lid blepharoplasy I had performed on me here in New York. I was left me with lid retraction, scleral show and significant dry eyes. Dr. Massry approached my case authentically and individually , explaining expectations and outcomes. I am so lucky and blessed to have found Dr. Massry! I had ptosis in my right eye which I had from childhood, but which got worse with age to the point it interfered with my vision and overall appearance. I had previous ptosis repair and brow lift, neither of which worked. I had a complicated case and when I found Dr. Massry I was just so relieved.
