Liza M. Capiendo's Online Review Report Card

I was recommended to Dr. Liza Capiendo's practice by my primary care physician. I called to make an appointment for an initial consultation and was told that she did not have any availability for eight weeks. Not a problem, I completely understand that some practices are busy and a long lead time is necessary. Six weeks later, I received a call from Dr. Capiendo's office and was told that she no longer could see me as she "had something come up" and would have to reschedule. I called the office and eventually spoke with one of her assistants who told me that Dr. Capiendo didn't have another appointment for five weeks. When I asked for an explanation, I was told that "last minute surgeries come up" and she was very busy. When I pointed out that we were still two weeks out from my appointment so this wasn't a "last minute emergency" and that most doctors block out consultation days and have completely separate surgery days (you can't just rush into a surgery suite last minute), her assistant realized she'd been caught and began to stumble around for an explanation but couldn't come up with one. In the end, I cancelled my appointment. Complete unprofessional across the board.

When I asked if the real reason was because Dr. Capiendo was going on vacation, the assistant became obviously nervous and offered to put me on hold. Really distasteful to be lied to. In the end, I cancelled my appointment. Completely unprofessional across the board.

Dealing with this office AND Capiendo MD has been nothing short of a nightmare! I’ve been having ‘issues’ as a result of a radical surgery procedure (14 hours) that was in response to cancer. Capiendo MD decided to do another procedure to rectify my issues. It took a month to get that date confirmed. Only until the day before my scheduled procedure for did someone tell me that the facility would not be covered! Sadly, after waiting a couple more months, the procedure didn’t help in the least after which the doctor put her hands up in the air and basically said there was nothing else she could do. One of my Oncologists, at Cedars-Sinai, suggested that I visit a different Physician, Phillip Fleshner MD. This Doctor immediately scheduled tests to diagnose the problem. Capiendo MD NEVER considered these tests which immediately identified the complication. I struggled, in excruciating pain, for months while seeing Capiendo MD! I, wholeheartedly, would NOT recommend this practice!

Sadly, after waiting a couple more months, the procedure didn’t help in the least after which the doctor put her hands up in the air and basically said there was nothing else she could do. One of my Oncologists, at Cedars-Sinai, suggested that I visit a different Physician, also there. This Doctor immediately scheduled tests to diagnose the problem. Capiendo MD NEVER considered these tests which immediately identified the complication. I struggled, in excruciating /debilitating pain, for months while seeing Capiendo MD! I, wholeheartedly, would NOT recommend this practice if you want to feel better!

Dr Capiendo is nice. Because of Privacy, I’ll keep this brief. You are literally in and out in a few minutes so make sure you prepare questions ahead of time. I will not be proceeding with any further visits due to the incompetence of the billing department. Complete botch job after just an office visit. I can’t image what would have happened had I actually had a procedure done. If you are up for a billing nightmare and a nice doctor, this is your place. It’s Unfortunate, because I actually liked the doctor.

Dr Capiendo is the ultimate professional and has helped me greatly over the past few years. I would highly recommend her.

The office is disaster, don't go there. Nobody cares.

Watch out for this place. I was recommended to have a preventive procedure, but I'm not in a financial place to pay for such. I thought my insurance would pay for it. I called the office a few days before the procedure just to make sure it would be covered by insurance, and was told not to worry: it would be covered. Then a month later I got a bill for $1800. When I called the office back, I was informed that "insurance will cover it" doesn't necessarily mean that they will pay for it. !!!!!!Now I have the hospital on my back for a procedure I never would have done if the office had informed me it would not be paid for.Note to office: when a patient asks if insurance "will cover it" that means we are wondering if they'll be paying for it. Sheesh.
