List of John Rochat's Reviews
Although I have left a commendation for Dr. Rochat in another area, I am happy to say even more about the excellent care and lifesaving treatment that I received from Dr. Rochat. He took charge of my cecal cancer and metastasis and directed me through six months of chemotherapy post surgery. I had challenges with the disease and treatment, but Dr Rochat is a consummate professional and was able to guide me through the tough parts of treatment and he always made time for me. I owe him my life. He is the greatest.
I had a less than 50% chance of survival with advanced cecal cancer and metastasis to the peritoneum. I received amazing care and up to the minute assessment and follow up with Dr Rochat. He cares about his patients like no other oncologist and he and his team were there for me whenever I needed it - day or night. I am now temporarily in Seattle but realize that the care and technology from Dr Rochat’s practice is unequaled and I am hoping to return. He is a superb, gifted clinician and you will feel like you are in the best hands if you are in his care. Thank you Dr Rochat, for your superb care and one of a kind analysis of my condition.
professional, knowledgeable, patient, takes time to explain everything
Arrogant, does not listen, patronizes both patient and family. Refuses to shoot straight with both patients and family. He will tell you if you go for a 2nd opinion, that he will no longer treat you OR work with other oncologists. Seems obsessed with himself and exploits the fact he is the is the only Oncologist in the area. Truly the worst physician I have ever encountered. Stay away if you can.
You’d think Dr. Rochat would understand that Dr./patient relationship is vitally important to a person facing a life ending disease, but Dr. Rochat has no bedside manner. He is extremely impatient, always complaining how his job is difficult enough when I had done something he suddenly informs me he does not approve of. He is obnoxious, curt, rude and on occasion demonstrates what can only be described as an intermittent explosive personality disorder. He made me cry twice from yelling at me, so much so that I couldn’t stop crying for over an hour after leaving his office. I am SO glad to have found a very capable and compassionate oncologist in Santa Rosa and have switched. He is also a “know it all” and does not. Like to have his patients well educated. He will contradict anything that wasn’t his own idea, and has twice been wrong about my situation due to his narrow mindedness. He is strictly traditional, will not every look outside of the box and is not at all interested in innovative practices. If you are referred to him, my recommendation is to run for the hills!
Not patient - doesn't seem to understand older patients (they can have trouble with memory)- abrupt and seems to think everyone should be able to process everything he says immediately. I would suggest if you need an oncologist look further. He doesn't seem to have the time for you.
I was referred to this doctor, and I've never met a physician quite like him. He was blatantly rude, obnoxious and condescending. He seems to be knowledgeable, but he tried to overwhelm me with useless pedantry while at the same time sidestepping my questions. I can't stand the guy.
Dr. Rochat treated me for lymphoma while I was pregnant with my son. He was always professional, and caring. His treatment plan saved me and saved my baby. We couldn't have a better oncologist here on the coast. We are really lucky to have him. His staff is always courteous and pleasant. I genuinely look forward to my visits with the doctor.
I found him to be arrogant, would not listen to me, and instead of what I came in for he went out in left field with all kind of blood tests that had nothing to do with my problems. I would personally not recommend him.
I called and asked Dr. Rochat for his help with a medical problem. He interrupted me, would not hear me out and hung up on me on the phone. This is not the first time he has been rude. When you reach out for help, and get a door slammed in your face, it is rather disheartening. This is not the first time an exchange with him was unpleasant. He is known for egoistic and abrasive behavior.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
