my experience with DMAP brentwood was pretty solid . i love every single staff member and they were awesome when i needed a check in and supported me through my entire stay. My therapist Ajhanaie was amazing, even though during the moment it felt like she was doing things because she wanted to make my life harder, really they just have to follow protocol, same with the floor staff. The other therapist, Donna, was also one of my biggest supporters as well, she ran groups effectively and i’ve learned some skills that i would have never had without her. other than living with a problematic peer, and dealing with a few from Eden (the coed house) it was definitely not a bad program. yes, it does feel like a long process your first week (especially during your 72 hours) but after that the time really does pass very quickly. I left when i was phase 3, which is one of the higher “phases” (when you phase up you earn more privileges) and honestly as long as you follow directions and participate, the stay will actually be somewhat enjoyable. (when you get admitted, ask staff Marissa and Lexi about make it jingle just dance, say you saw it in my review) and just focus on treatment while you’re there!

This place is very unprofessional. I’m out months later and this place has taught me nothing. It’s just staff following rules, but in reality untrained to deal with situations. More of just being locked up in a house till you feel like ur going insane and they feel like doing worksheets everyday is enough therapy. I could go on and on about this place but I Can’t lie I did really like some of the staff, it’s the program itself especially the manager she doesn’t really care about any of the kids. Also the therapist herself I was there for almost a month and I was lucky if I got 2 weeks with her.

There’s only 3 good staff (maddy, samantha, Bianca) I had allot of hard times with them, but in the end the things they do is because they care. This place is ok depending on the group of kids. They’re working on making better groups. The therapist Bacically gives you sessions when she remembers. In my experience, there’s no curriculum for the groups. The staff just find random stuff of of therapist aid. This place made me allot worse then I was already, once I got out I started doing allot better.

Unfortunately insurance pushed this low bid facility as the only option on what they will cover. don’t believe their quote “we take pride”. What others have commented I feel is 100 percent accurate.

This is an amazing treatment program. I had the opportunity to tour and meet the team and they were phenomenal. As a mental health professional I am always seeking solid treatment programs for teens. I've had several clients emerge from this program with great feedback and excellent progress. Thank you for supporting our youth!

If your child is simply depressed or anxious and tends to hold her feelings in, the Mood and Anxiety Program is probably a great fit. For those kids who don't fit that profile, however, the program is a revolving door to the police and psych ward on a 51/50. My daughter had an argument with her roommate, nasty words were exchanged, and my daughter got angry. My daughter is a large girl and her anger intimidated the staff to the extent that they called the police, and she ended up in the psych ward. We made the mistake of sending her back to CFD, and she was not contrite enough for them, and they made no attempt at restorative justice with the roommate. In fact, they insisted that no one at the house had ever said an unkind word to my daughter. In my conversation with the director where she told me my daughter needed to leave, and after I agreed, she proceeded to itemize my daughter's every negative trait to me. There was no purpose to kicking us while we were down, other than her offgassing her frustration and hatred for my daughter on me. We begged them to keep my daughter while we scrambled to find a new placement, but eventually the director had had enough and purposely told my daughter about our plans to send her to a long term facility which she knew would make her explode, which allowed her to call the police and wash her hands if her. This was not her news to share, as we were collaborating with our consultant on a new placement. CFD wasn't providing placement services. She clearly thought my daughter was evil and the we as the parents were at fault for her mental illness. The experience was traumatizing for our whole family, and has set my daughter's recovery back. This review is in reference to the all girl facility in Brentwood, CA.

Horrible facility. We had our 13yr old in this facility for about 3 weeks. His father and I are not together but communicate well. This facility only communicated with his father. We have joint custody. I was left completely out of the loop unless his dad passed along messages. My son was bullied by other kids there and ended up in the hospital due to it since it obviously didn’t help his suicidal thoughts. The kids were “talked to” but my son was punished by adding another month to his stay. When we finally had enough and withdrew him from the facility we were left without any medications for my son with severe psychosis for an entire weekend because they told us they wouldn’t give us the meds; said they were destroying them instead of giving them to us. Spiteful because we withdrew him without them releasing him. Thankfully, the ER doctor filled his meds until his appointment with an outpatient psychiatrist. This place doesn’t care about your child - they care only about your money! I strongly urge you to seek care elsewhere.
