List of Bruce I. Kirschner's Reviews
Well can't say whether the doctor himself was any good because I didn't feel like wasting any more time sitting in the hallway waiting, to see if someone might actually come out and address me. 15-20 minutes after my scheduled appt they simultaneously called in two other patients to see the same doctor. After waiting another 15+ minutes I asked the receptionist to cancel my appointment since I was certain each of those two people was going to be at least another 15 minutes and I'd be waiting at least another half an hour. If this is how they run this mill of a practice I don't want to be part of it.
IF there was a zero this place would get it. It was the worst experience for me and my senior citizen parent. Dr. Kirschner wore his mask under his nose when treating my parent at 90. I to ask him to pull it up and he said "covid is everywhere" then he pulled it up but it was not fitting correctly and kept slipping down. Dr. Zhu was walking to the patient room fast with a 90 year old behind her. Looked like we were hurrying to keep up. This place has to realize they are treating geriatric patients here. If they are in such a hurry they are in the wrong business. And lets protect patients no matter what age.Through her exam she was asking question so quickly even I could not keep up. I had to ask her to slow down and she did a bit. She seemed to be in a hurry and my parent was getting super confused. By the time we left the office he was upset and frustrated. I have never seen this. It was AWFUL . I have never written a review before but this place needs one. A real one .
Absolutely terrible. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went to Dr. Kirschner while I was in high school and college. I then moved away for 10 years and visited for the first time since. Dr. Fong is 2nd in command and is terrible. She is not friendly, the technology used in this office hasn't changed since the 80's. Dr. Fong ordered me 'HARD' contact lenses - which I had never had in my life. They were miserable, and I requested that I need soft contact lenses as that's what I've been wearing for 20 years. She places the order - here's the best part!!!! She orders me a "6 month" supply. Well after 6 months I needed more lenses. She says "Oh, well your insurance only covers for a 1-year supply, you will need to pay out of pocket." I ask - "if you knew that, why wouldn't you have ordered me a 1 year supply?" She mumbles and basically says "do you want them or not?" Even better, """1 YEAR""" after my visit, I get a bill for $75 for a visit. When I had visited for my evaluation and to pick up my contacts I was told by the front desk that there was no copay needed and nothing due. The Dr's office is Kirschner, but you will be lucky to see him for more than 3 minutes. The remaining 97% is spent dealing with the miserable and lousy Dr Fong. I don't write many reviews, but I hope this will help at least 1 person to decide to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! This place is garbage.

Cataract surgery. Dr. Kirschner was totally professional and when he was done, I put my glasses away. No need for them anymore. Weird. I had worn glasses since my 30's and now in my 70's, they are in a drawer.
Professional staff and incredible service by a very expert team. Right on time, which is what you want from a doctor. Highly recommend them for all your eye needs. Also have a wide selection of frames and lenses with a super nice team.
Against my better judgment I made an appointment with Dr. Kirschner, knowing that it would be his optometrist doing the measurements. Well, wrong decision. I have complicated eyes and two sets of progressive glasses - one for computer and desktop reading and another for driving and car dashboard. Having been told clearly, several times by me, that these are my needs, I don't know how, but she managed to lump sum the two together and I guess give an 'average'(?) reading. I took it to the company that has filled my prescriptions many times before and when the technician there saw hers, he realized something is wrong. He made me try the lenses and everything looked foggy and fuzzy. So I had to have my eyes checked again and had everything redone. Dr. Kirschner, however, is a pleasant enough person, and I have no problems with his professionalism. But her.... that's another story.
Dr. Kirschner and his staff are wonderful. His office staff are extremely professional and utilize the most up to date equipment and testing to enable them to provide the best possible ophthalmology services in the Bay Area. I have been a patient of his for many years and would highly recommend him and the rest of his team. They are highly knowledgeable and caring-a combination not often seen in this day and age. The are the Best!!
Went in for an eye exam and received a very thorough work-up which picked up on an eye disease. Thanks to Dr. Kirschner and staff, I can start treatment and preserve my vision. Shirley, Nancy, and the receptionists are really friendly and helpful as well. Dr. Kirschner is super personable. I'm very thankful to have made my eye appointment and that I went to see this great team of people.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
