He used to be a good doctor, but since becoming a concierge doctor, if you did not sign up ...
Sadly there is not a minus star. I think I have written 400 reviews as a Yelp elite. This particular doctor however is hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a health care professional. My dad was Dr Carneys patient. My stepmom of 40 years is my dads health care advocate and legal proxy. She was frustrated with Dr. Carney as he had been dismissive of my dads recent, multiple health concerns when she brought them to his attention. She had also been gobsmacked when she asked about medication to stave off any cognitive decline and DrCarney answered that while they have that medication, it only staves off the inevitable. I am sorry, WHAT? Is the entire point of medicine to stave of "the inevitable" aren't we all dying? Who says that to anyone, let alone a patient. Apparently he had told my father he needed to have one of his medical problems checked out by someone else, but not only failed to make a recommendation but failed to add any urgency to his directive meaning the next available appt given to my dad was in June. I called Dr Carneys office and asked to speak to his nurse, he doesn't have one, first red flag. His receptionist cheerily told me EXACTLY what Dr Carney had said about my father, HIPPA violation and second red flag. I told her twice that I didn't need any of my dads medical history, I already had it. I said I needed Dr Carney to order a handful of tests because the FOUR symptoms my father was experiencing led me to believe he was having a systemic infection/inflammatory process or secondary disease. I then said I was hoping to give Dr Carney the benefit of the doubt to get these tests ordered quickly. So Dr Carney called me back 6 hours later and while screaming at me told me he wouldn't divulge my dads medical history as I had threatened him, never call his office again. Literally, shouted at me. My gf was riding shotgun, I was driving. She manages a group of doctors and she said,"who yells at patient families and did he seriously call you to do that?" Since my request was lost in translation by his HIPPA violating receptionist and he didn't take two seconds to confirm my request but rather hollered at me you should Run! Run far away from this guy.
1. Once you step into Dr. Carney's office, you can sense the office staffs are very friendly and nice. They always cheer me up. 2. I am so glad Dr. Carney be my primary physician. Base on his years experience as primary physician, he always precisely treat the problem or honestly recommended me to see the specialist.3. I understand his time limit for each patient who comes to see him, therefore, I always prepare ahead of time for the questions I need to ask him and discuss with him about my health issue. Sometimes I might asked him too many questions and created tense feeling between him and me. However, it is my right to ask him question and his responsibility to answer patient's questions. The bottom-line is Dr. Carney is a very good family physician and knowledgeable. 4. I am not kissing his butt. On the contrary this is my honest review!
Dr. Carney never rushes an appointment. He always listens to the concerns of his patients. He is always smiling when he comes to the exam room. He is very knowledgeable. In todays insurance marketplace where doctors have to see a large number of patients, which means less time per patient, I’m amazed at the care level Dr. Carney provides while keeping an office staff who are also professional and caring. I would recommend Dr. Carney without hesitation!
He is wonderful and caring. Worked thru the darkest days of the pandemic, was always there for us.
First visit with Dr Stephen Carney: During our discussion I mentioned that in my readings the possible causes of my condition differed with his, but that he certainly knew much more about the subject than I. This rankled him and he soon left the room. Second visit: He abruptly ended my visit and said my 15 minutes were up. I asked if he were kidding and his reply was no and if there was nothing ...
Addendum to my 1st review:First visit with Dr Stephen Carney:During our discussion I mentioned that in my readings the possible causes of my condition differed with his, but that he certainly knew much more about the subject than I. This rankled him and he soon left the room.Second visit:He abruptly ended my visit and said my 15 minutes were up. I asked if he were kidding and his reply was no and if there was nothing more to discuss we were through and he left the room.Third and last visit:Arrived at an appointment for 3 cortisone shots. He said I only get one and to make another appointment if I wanted another. When I asked him why I could not get all my shots, he said there wasn't enough time and called me an ass****. I said that I was at the appointment on time and that he was 11 minutes late to my 15 minute appointment. When I asked him if I could get a referral for the remaining shots he took offence and replied that he had been practicing medicine for 30 years and he had performed many cortisone shots. He called me an ass**** again and said I should get another doctor. This person is quite insecure and takes offence when questioned, as if you are attacking his judgement and character. He is a disgrace to the medical profession and should be reprimanded for unprofessional behavior. However, I will follow his advice and find myself a new doctor.
Dr Carney exhibited very unprofessional behavior during my appointment. I was called an ass**** and to find a new doctor. When asked why he called me that, he replied that I asked too many questions, but couldn't or wouldn't give me any examples. Dr Carney then went to a shared medical website and posted false comments about MY demeanor, where I am unable to respond. These false comments are viewable to all doctors!I will file a grievance with the appropriate regulatory board regarding this person's treatment of his patients.Needless to say, I do NOT recommend this doctor.
I have attended several appointments with my mom, who has been Dr. Carney's patient for years. He does not show warmth towards my aging mom, and sometimes is rather dismissive; as if he is annoyed by her medical concerns and her presence. Today, feeling depressed by her ailments, Dr. Carney was beyond rude and aggressive with my her. What kind of doctor berates and shows disdain for their elderly patients? Is ZERO stars an option?
Saw him a few months ago and regret wasting my time and sanity. This guy is a total creep and horrible doctor. No bedside manner and made horribly rude remarks to me, stuff a REAL Dr. would never say. He had no sympathy of my concerns and didn't listen to me. Not sure why he became a dr but he definitely did not give a good first impression. I will never come back here ever again. Only positive was the friendly and hard working front office girl.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
