Joel M. Corwin's Online Review Report Card

Mr. Joel M. Corwin, MDI was a patient of Mr. Corwin for many years. He performed emergency eye surgery on me that has saved my eye at the time. (Approx. 10yrs ago)Unfortunately, this man has a temper problem & showed no tact, professionalism, or class when dealing with an injured patient after surgery. I noticed this during my 1st recovery visit with this man. He became agitated & used his best black voice to mock me during the visit when I asked if there was anything he could prescribe me for the pain by saying "he can't do Nuttin for da pain!" To get me to stop asking. This worked as our relationship deteriorated after his outrageous outburst.  He also never explained anything well to me regarding my procedure before hand & honestly i think this man has racist beliefs that obviously got the better of him on this day.To add insult to injury. Currently I had a follow up appointment with him this week to address an emergency situation regarding my eye & was denied service directly by Dr. Corwin who claimed that my Referal dept. sent me back to him in error he does not take hmo patients anymore.This was fine as I don't want this man near me to be honest. But he was verbally rude & aggressive In his denial of service & worst of all this Doctor & staff ushered me out the door without even looking into my emergency when asked directly. No triage to see if I was in danger of loosing my eye or anything Before politely ushering me out the door.By the way, every person I spoke with in the ins. Office, the Referal office, & at the IPA does not agree with mr. corwins actions & they show him as taking on new patients & also HMO's are excepted in this office. So basically it looks as if he lied  also..This to me is just shameful & speaks volumes to the type of doctor he is. I found out the next day from his peers that the valve that Mr. Corwin implanted into my eye had slipped out & now I'm required to undergo surgery on this eye again to remove the implant. Thanks for caring about your patients Mr. Corwin May your arrogance keep you warm at night.I look forward to filing a formal complaint against you & your office for neglecting a patient in need once again..

Everyone is the office is professional and treats me with respect. Eli,Melissa, Lisa, Dinh, and the front Desk people have always been friendly and courteous. Dr. Corwin usually has a waiting room full of patients on Monday afternoon. He checks my eye photos, reviews findings with me, and gives me a b treatment. Not much time for idle talk nevertheless, he is kind and friendly and knows his craft. Because of him, I can see.

Very,very RUDE!!!!!!! HORRIBLE Bed side manner!!!!!! Put one star so you would know I voted.

Thanks to Dr. Corwin I lost my sight in one eye! Never even said I am sorry!

I was getting monthly injections from Dr. Corwin for Macular Degeneration. I got a strep infection from the injection because Dr. Corwin did not follow sterile procedures. He was talking during the injection, without a mask. As a result I lost the vision totally in one eye and suffered through many surgeries with tremendous pain. It has totally destroyed my life. I cannot drive,, I can barely read and i'm uncomfortable all the time. Go to Jules Stein

I had a horrible experience as a patient of Dr. Corwin. I am now blind in one eye as a result of unsanitary conditions while receiving an injection for macular degeneration and Dr. Corwin is to blame.

He disagreed with the diagnosis of his colleague. Gave me a contradictory and dissenting opinion. Insisted that I receive an eye injection on the spot. When I asked to have 24 hours to consider, he said that if I left the office "it will be the last time you see me". He was certainly right in that regard

As a patient for many years, I was told that my catAracts could not be operated on. Desperate I went to see a doctor who did cataract surgery, no problem said the other doctor ! Thank God I did.

If you value your eyesight do not let Dr. Corwin touch you. He recommended surgery that succeeding specialists said was unnecessary. The surgery he performed failed leading to a full retinal detachment requiring 2 more surgeries to save the eye. I nearly lost my vision due to Dr. Corwin's bad advice and botched surgery.
