Paul J. Dougherty's Online Review Report Card

He thinks he's a big shot. Condescending and rude. He spends a lot of money on google advertising so you'll always see him on the first page. Don't get fooled. Just take the 5-star reviews with a grain of salt. I have decided to give Dr. Dougherty a chance because I saw a video and he seemed passionate about his profession, a nice, and a trustworthy person. But this was far from the actual person I have met. He was impatient, dismissive, arrogant, and condescending. He avoided to answer my questions properly and gave me vague, generalized answers. Be aware, that they'll hold your test results hostage unless you pay another $40. It's some kind of office policy. What an insult, right? Do yourself a favor and don't take a chance just because you're curious. Ask people in your neighborhood (on Nextdoor) for referrals. I wish I had done that and not relied on reviews. He made me feel like an idiot and in a how come I don't already know the answer kind of way. Needless to say, he will not be touching my eyes. P.s. You'll not get your test results unless you pay $40. His office is all about making money. Be aware! All the above are my sole personal opinion and experience.

But this was far from the actual person I have met. He was impatient, dismissive, arrogant, and condescending. He avoided to answer my questions properly and gave me vague, generalized answers. He made me feel like an idiot and in a how come I don't already know the answer kind of way. Mostly his answer to all my questions was "you can get hit by a car tomorrow, you know". What?! I couldn't believe my ears. P.s. I asked for a copy of my records and they wanted to charge me $40 unless it's to be sent to a specialist they REFERRED me to but since they didn't refer me to anyone, they want the $. I told them they can shred everything. I received a couple of messages from the office manager asking to give her a call to see what can be done to make it up to me. I have responded that she can email me my test results. Needless to say, I received no reply. (All the above are my sole personal opinion and experience.)

Just came back from a post-cataract check up and I just can't say enough good things about the whole Camarillo DLV experience. I was one of the early Radial Keratotomy patients 40+ years ago so Dr. Dougherty had lots to work with, work around. Absolutely fantastic surgeon and he very clearly CARES deeply. Today, I also had a fantastic experience with Stephanie, one of his tech assistants. Stephanie was delightful, easy to be with, careful and full of care and helpful with explanations of what she was doing. The whole staff at DLV is just super. Your visit may take longer than most ophthalmologist offices, but that is because they are SOOOO thorough - multiple exams, tests, etc. It's your eyes so be a patient patient.

I went to his office for a pre-op consultation for cataract surgery. It took three hours and at the end, all they wanted to do was talk about my out-of-pocket personal cost... over $10,000 for the lenses I need! Also, Dr Dougherty was 'running late', so I was seen by another doctor, who recommended the wrong lenses for me! Dr Dougherty finally showed up and saw me for less than three minutes and finally suggested the right lenses. But now I am so concerned about being a 'small cog in a big wheel' that I really don't want him to do my surgery. After all, I am the one who will be stuck with messed up vision... for the rest of my life!! I am seeking another opinion!

AMAZING experience here! Wow! I just had Lasik here yesterday and I couldn't wait to post my review! All of the staff here are very friendly, the doctors/techs are all very informative and explained every little detail to me. I was a nervous wreck but everyone was comforting assuring me there is nothing to worry about. The procedure itself was very quick and I was worried for no reason. Today I went in for my post op appointment and my eyes are healthy and my vision is better than 20/20! Words just cannot describe how I feel. I'm so happy!! No more glasses, no more contacts! No more reaching for glasses every morning I wake up. This is life changing for me! The only thing I regret is not doing it way sooner! Thank you Dr. Paul and the rest of the team! You are all wonderful people and I'm so happy to have been referred to you! I'm LOOKING forward to a bright future!

Great staff and doctors! Dr. Dougherty took me from 20/400 to 20/15!!!!

My experience at Dougherty Laser Vision was excellent! The staff was friendly, informative and extremely patient. Dr. Dougherty was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions.I am confident that I have come to the right place to have my corrective eye surgery.
