List of Adebukola Onibokun's Reviews
Suffered with sciatic pain for over a decade. Other surgeons wanted to do an open fusion procedure. Dr. O suggested a simple mini decompression and it worked perfectly. Glad I found him
From past experience with surgery and nonsurgical treatments I feel its necessary to comment on the reviewer statements written by MM . I too suffered from disc herniations and underwent a cervical fusion and laminectomies throughout the last twenty years of my career working as a RN. Sadly in my experience both as a patient and a RN if physical therapy and steroids do work its temporary only. Usually insurance companies will not pay for any surgical intervention until conservative treatment such as injections and physical therapy are utilized first. Most insurance companies require prior authorization first before any surgical intervention but not for injections or physical therapy even if you have a PPO. Its great if they do work but unfortuantely I feel its a temporary bandaid on a problem that will need surgical intervention in the end. I dont think its fair to give this doctor a negative rating when he is entitled to his medical opinion. He is a credible surgeon, I am not sure where your information is coming from stating he is not credible. I have met several people all unrelated cases one is a former surgeon who all received wonderful surgical intervention from him and have a better quality of life because of him. I dont think its fair to give him a poor rating because you were not happy with his opinion.
I had spinal stenosis issue. Completely fixed my pain. Top notch practice
Great Surgeon. Fixed my sciatic pain
Get a second opinion. I was given the recommendation to have a discectomy after only a week of a new herniated disc case. I was told, "no amount of physical therapy & steroids will help...you'll be in pain for the rest of your life." I was never given any pain medication. Ended up going to someone extremely credible at Stanford and they recommended strongly against surgery. I'm only 28. Day 3 of non surgical treatment (PT & steroids) and feeling amazing.
I had chronic sciatica but my HMO would not treat it. They wouldn't do an MRI. I went to Dr. Onibokun on my own and he ordered an MRI, discovering I had herniated disk. He reviewed the MRI in detail with me, showing where the problem was located and suggested microsurgery. He scheduled the surgery within 2 weeks. Right after that I felt much better; the sciatica was gone, recovery time was really short. The office staff was very helpful. They guided me through the process and also helped me with paperwork for my insurance, and provided post-surgery instructions.
I was treated by Dr. O for bone slippage in my back. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy. Pain was so bad I could barely walk. I had a spinal fusion and was pain free immediately after surgery. Very skilled and humble surgeon. Very appreciative
After visiting several neurosurgeons, I finally found Dr. Onibokun. I called the office to make an appointment and his staff members were very pleasant, explaining all of what I should expect when coming into the office. At the time of my appointment, I felt the exact same warmth and helpfulness from the people at the front desk. Once I was taken in to see the Dr, from start to finish, I found Dr. Onibokun to be professional, honest , patient, detailed-oriented and comprehensive with his health care advice. Something I hadn't seen with any of the other surgeons I visited. I underwent his recommended surgical procedure and I have to say-- I feel one hundred percent better!! I can run again, and all the pain in my lower back has completed gone away. I am so very, very thankful to Dr. Onibokun and his staff. And I am so glad I didn't give up looking for the right doctor.
Same exact bs happened to me as the other gentleman described about his "complimentary" evaluation--there is nothing complimentary about the SAME $600 fee I received. I was referred to Dr. Onibokun by his colleague in San Mateo for severe back pain and debilitating numbness of my left leg. He felt I needed flexion/extension studies done before further in-depth evaluation. And that was it, and out we went. In about two weeks time I received a $600 bill for complimentary services. Please do not fall for this tactic my fellow patients! If you are referred to a fellow colleague for a "complimentary evaluation", call first, and get it in writing that there is no fee. If anything what is complementary, is the referral to the office phone number. Seriously Disturbing practices are becoming far too common and we have to protect ourselves folks. And don't be intimidated. I expect there to be a response for this and I don't expect it to be positive. That is the name of the game. Look out for yourself, be your own advocate, and when in doubt follow your gut feeling and get it in writing.
I was very pleased with my care. Had really severe spinal stenosis and he did endoscopic decompression. I'm 100 percent improved.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
