Victor Li's Online Review Report Card

Dr Li is good at what he does- Epideral steroid injections. The downside it's very difficult to get an appoitment or actual procedure done- His scheduling staff is horribly incompetent. It's almost as if there is a drug problem among them. It took several calls, and actually having to go back in twice (plus several calls with no response) after the initial consultation, to try and get an epidural done- a 7-8 weeks of persistant back and forth to finally get it done. As stated in other comments- don't go there looking for a careful one on one cosy time with your "caring" doctor....

If someone is complaining because he doesn't immediately prescribe restricted drugs, weigh those carefully. He is a competent doctor for people with back pain etc. and knows how to administer the appropriate injections (in a surgery center) which gives long term relief. Folks are thinking this should be an easy place to get a pain medicine are in the wrong location.....

I got an epidural injection from him due to spinal injury. I thought he said "epidermal" and he kept repeating that it is a very "superficial" procedure. He tried to do it without any topical pain relief and it felt like a knife stabbed my spinal cord and cut a ligament (felt like). After the injection I realized he had missed by placing the injection at c3 instead of c1 and on the right instead of the left. After this procedure, I contacted him multiple times over several months telling him I'm in extreme pain. He hasn't responded one SINGLE time. Nor does reception answer when you call NOR DOES HIS CLINIC HAVE AN EMAIL CONTACT. Dr LI??????? Is anyone HOME???

He us not a guy you can go to and cry on his shoulder asking for pain meds. He is in and out of the room very quickly. But I think that makes sense. He needs to keep emotional distance with his patients- I would too if I were a pain doctor. He specializes in treatments for pain that do not involve pain pills. To me, as long as the treatment is effective, I am happy. I was referred to him by a Stanford neurologist. She told me he is excellent at treating the spine with non- evasive procedures.

Very poor patient communication. Very poor attitude (elitist attitude). Very unprofessional OR attitude. Poor OR staff (Capitola Surgery Center). Find someone who actually cares. This guy doesn’t.

People, don't ignore the poor reviews for this guy. He is horrible. Plus his office staff are as incompetent as his Dr skills. You can include Capitola Surgery Center (which he owns) as part of the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. Avoid this clown!!!

I can't speak for Dr. Li, but his office staff is wholly incompetent, rude, unprofessional, and impossible to communicate with if you can even get them to answer the phone. What does that say about the doctor who employs them? Dr. Li's physician's assistant botched a cortisone shot--she couldn't figure out the appropriate place to administer it. If your orthopedic surgeon refers you to this office, do yourself a favor and ask for another recommendation, especially if you are elderly. Dr. Li's team expects you to be the expert regarding the pain relief you need administered. They do not have the wherewithal to have any sort of authority on how to help you even with specific doctor referrals and medical records handed directly to them. The onus is entirely on you, so go elsewhere to receive competent care, or at the very least, have an advocate help you to jump through their endless hoops. Expect incompetence from this office.

Something I learned a long time ago as far as doctors goes. A bad bedside manner does not judge how good a doctor is. They can be so focused on the task at hand, that being personable is not the priority. Quality medical care is the priority! My experience with Dr. Li is this… my first visit was very short and to the point. My procedure he was kind, but very focused, and he did his job very professionally and successfully. I would say this if you would like quality medical care, Dr Li is an excellent choice. If you’re looking for a buddy to be nice to you and make you feel good about yourself,, maybe a counselor is what you are looking for? Yes… it is nice to get both but if one must go, I will keep the professionalism in medical care way over the how nice they are to me. Thank You Dr. Li.

Saw Dr Li in the hospital for my back pain and he admitted me for four days for pain control and was very compassionate. I’ve gave me meds for pin to take at home. I had another episode where I fell again landing flat on my back and broke my finger the ER staff would not admit me and we’re very mean to me acting like I was faking or drug seeking told me to take Tylenol and ibuprofen for my finger and back amd sent me home. I was very unhappy. Dr Li would have admitted me again and treated me right so now I am scheduling an appt to see him as a mew patient consult in his office. Will review again after office visit is done.
