23 days inpatient recent with 3 feet of old banged up plate on head and hardware left me in some pretty relentless occipital cervio thoracic pain when suddenly one day weeks in Dr. Mehta took time from his day and met me in my room and did a 16 shot procedure not missing one spasm. He even injects over my eyes where a previous halo left infected scar tissue. Dr. Mehta is so good and confident with injection depth and any requests. 2 other hospitalizations he did same. Very kind bedside manner. Dr. Schimm does botox procedures for headaches and stubborn muscle spasms i get in my large trapz from years in gym and work in Las Vegas casino building. For sleep studies, Dr. Mehtas wife is excellent troubleshooting sleep issues. The Neurology Center paid a lot for me to say this. Lol jk this place ive gone for years and they are phenomenal.
Most of you are unaware that I survived a stroke on June 20th, 2020, my second stroke. The first was in 2004. As a result, I was hospitalized overnight. My doctor referred me to a neurologist days later. It took this long to get an appointment, a neurologist, not in person to observe and perform tests if I had any deficiencies, it was a telemed appointment. Rediculous!. During this telemed visit, she suggested that perhaps, how could she be sure, that an imbalance with my electrolytes was the root cause. She she to schedule a 6 month follow up ut she would order lab tests prior. I'm not a doctor and want to know what caused my stroke to prevent a future stroke. I received a call stating she was on maternity leave and I need to reschedule my appointment for this month. Waited months to begin with, a telemed, no less, now this and no labs have been ordered nor in my chart that they needed to be ordered for my 6 month follow up. Then they t

Waited months to begin with, a telemed, no less, now this and no labs have been ordered nor in my chart that they needed to be ordered for my 6 month follow up. Then they tell me that they do not have CDC clearance. What a bunch of guff. This year, I had in person appointments with my PCP, Cardiologist, Dentist and Dermitoligist as well as numerous lab visits and xray appointments. This Dr. Lawler and her neurology office, The Neurology Center in Carlsbad, CA hinge on in it for money the easy way and not the treat/cure patients. Seems almost malpractice. This pandemic has been a convenient reason to do less for the same price .
Rude and far from helpful. My nana (my grandmother) was seen on Dec 31 2020 for her dementia. They didn’t do anything and said she was fine. Fast forward to the beginning of March- my mother called to make an appointment because my nana had received a referral for a specific doctor. She was told she’s get a call back in 24 hours- spoiler alert she didn’t get a call back until a week later (3/12). My mother was asked if she still needed an appointment- well obviously since no one called her back. However, my nana was in the hospital because she had a bad stroke. My nana was finally released to a SNF but she still needed an appointment to see the doctor. My mom called today to make the appointment. Well she was told my 79 year old nana with dementia would have to have a video visit. Excuse me? She can’t even operate a flip phone and you expect her to be able to use a tablet? She doesn’t even have access to one! My mom asked how do they plan on assessing a neurological disorder through a tablet? She also needs another brain scan because she had a brain bleed for almost a week. The doctors there don’t want to physically see their patients- because Covid 🙄 the employees there should be vaccinated so your rate of exposure is lower now. Also the referral was for a geriatric neurologist- not a practitioner but they were trying to force a practitioner on her. How about actually giving patients in person visits because not everyone has access to tablets? How about not having to wait 60 freaking more days for an “in person” visit because everyone in the office is being lazy ant not wanting to do their job.
I ask for help, more once because having a bad reaction to medication from doctors. And it’s impossible to get a tela appointment early. And When I finally reached a person . They got upset. When I asked if I could see another doctor there. They said that we don’t share with other doctors. ( that what a two year old child would say ). Then I had to call back again to ask for help. All I wanted was a early appointment otherwise I would of had to wait until the end of March. I know there very busy but that’s no excuse for bad behaviour . ..
My daughter had a very bad experience with Management staff at this location on 2/9/21. My daughter had tried several times to make appointment since she had a few headaches and was reaching out to primary DR. Since there was a balance due there was a payment of 600 dollars (paid) and since there is still an outstanding balance do to Covid-19 and other issues. She was told that she would have to at least pay down to 150.00 before getting seen again. I was not aware that this was a collection agency and my daughter is negligence of service. It also seems that the manager is making decision on who can be seen and do to payment history. I have tried reaching out to UCSI but what very difficult that is unfortunate that the DR does not have a clue what going on. This has to be brought up to a person that care and can help with this situation beside there office. Very dissatisfied

I was passed around from doctor to doctor here many years ago . Two were good doctors but it was frustrating being passed around for each individual problem. I can say the guy who handles MS diagnoses (Fishberg) was a kind man and said I was MS on paper and he did a good job running those ms tests. However he missed things, it wasn’t MS, but rarer (which I learn years later from new doc). Most importantly Dr. OH who’s specialty is movement disorders missed things very important. Dr Sahagian was the first DR. I saw and I can only say he is also a kind man. But it was after the head migraine DR. Blummenfeild there who pretty much accused me of being some type druggy abusing opioids right after seeing me for two seconds that made me fearful to even be seen there ever again. I never saw the headache guy again as I left with my stomach in knots. Even told my rheumatologist how poorly he treated me and they were pretty upset I was treated that way as I had been their patient for many many years and they know what that doctor was accusing me of is not true. I left and never went back after one more visit with Sahagian where I told him how upset I was with that other DR. I didn’t like the passing me around stuff and it was overwhelming, then with that migraine Dr. pretty much questioning my integrity. That was last straw. After I left the office with no answers, I was scared to go to a new doctor for a long time. I got worse over years and finally found a new neurologist recommended by a friend. I was diagnosed with a 1 in a million rare autoimmune disease called stiff person syndrome. They (the neurology center) missed this disease progressing all that time. I have several other autoimmune diseases too but this, this is making me homebound and instead of being taken seriously I was treated badly and got scared to go back. Thank goodness for a kind neurologist now who listens and has empathy. I have now been seeing him many years. He not only knows about all things those doctors know combined, but he even knew what antibodies and stuff to look into for this rare disease. I am so happy with my neuro, my endo who treats my type 1 diabetes, my rheumatologist, and other specialists. It’s so important to have good doctors you can trust and count on, ones that won’t make you feel Terrible for absolutely no good reason. Most I been seeing for 5-15 years now. I don’t feel I’d have got that type of doctor patient relationship at that neurology center. Again Fishberg and Sahagian are kind doctors. It’s just this place needs to do better. That migraine doctor. Rude, didn’t care at all about what he did to me he didn’t even let me talk hardly. My police officer husband had a hard time not just picking me up and walking out with how ignorant this guy was and how terrible he actually treated me, someone going through something he had no idea about because he didn’t give me any chances to talk really. He was rude and dismissive. Long review, but if I have to say anything it’s stay away from the guy they all call the migraine guy. There is way better migraine docs out there. I have hemiplegic migraines myself, of course he didn’t know that... I was diagnosed by new neurologist. He jumped right into wanting to do Botox on first visit. I never was made to feel so small by a doctor in my life. My neuro now handles my Migraines with a multitude of approaches and the best part. He’s kind . If you can go and just see dr Fishberg, then do that. He does the Multiple sclerosis type stuff . If you are reading this and thinking of going for migraines . Run. The doctor is cruel. For anyone reading this review. Nothing is more important than doctor patient relationship. If they make you feel bad. Pushed. Talked down to. Any of the sort. Find someone you are comfortable with. Easy to talk to. Don’t have anxiety while there. Can be open with. They have compassion and truly care about you. -thank you for reading.
This is not about me, but my mother of 92 years who is now deceased. My stepfather, age 90 was doctor shopping to find a Neurologist that would "cure" her dementia. She prescribed the rivastigmine patch, which was administered by my stepfather. He would forget to take off the old patch and put on the new, which would overdose her on the drug and make her horribly sick. What doctor relies on a 90 year old to administer drugs to another elderly person? Not good judgement on Dr. Lawler's part. She DID NOT want to meet with me or discuss this issue. I informed her nurse of this issue!
I brought my mother to Dr Lawler for treatment of her Parkinson's. I have never in my life met a more compassionate, caring physician. Dr Lawler answered all of our questions, and gave us a very detailed plan of action to reduce her very severe symptoms. We have seen her several times in the last 6 months, and each time, she is thorough and compassionate. I wish every Parkinsons's patient can see her - she is truly one in a million!
