List of Herbert A. Holman's Reviews
I sure miss Dr Holman. Visited him 3 times over the years, for cryosurgery and two minor skin cancer removals with surgery Not to thrilled about the "Big Business" operation that took over his practice, though
Dr. Holman is one of the kindest, caring, and professional dermatologists ever. He is always on time and takes the time to listen and explain. Always comforting and very calming. He is about to retire and when I read his letter announcing his departure, I had tears in my eyes. He is a good man and it has been an honor to have him as my doctor.
This office needs cleaning and new furniture. The backs of the chairs where breaking off and every chair was dirty. I arrived early for my first visit there just like the receptionist ask when I scheduled my appointment. The receptionist was not very friendly and as soon as the rest of the staff arrived it was loud and a lot of personal conversation going on. My appointment was at 9 am and after waiting 15 min I asked the receptionist how much longer I had to wait. She told me that Dr. Weiss was not there yet. She also said she would ask her assistant what time he was coming in. I sat back down and waited for her response. When she returned to the front desk she said nothing. She kept conversing with her coworker about other personal stuff. I walked up to the desk once again to get some information. The receptionist said nothing and looked at another woman that was standing next to her. This other woman I believe was the Drs. assistant. She gave me a look and and ask "can I Help you". She was bothered by my interruption of their conversation. I couldn't believe how unprofessional they all were. Especially the Dr. that has appointments scheduled in the morning and is not there on time. I asked for my paperwork back and the receptionist barely said sorry. They definitely don't care about patient care nor customer service. Awful, Awful place.
Dr. Holman is the only doctor that I have met who respects the patient's time. He arrived in the examining room a few minutes before my scheduled appointment time. Dr. Holman is a very kind, caring person and gentle with his touch. He carefully explained his diagnosis and during the treatment, he explained what he is doing and what to expect during the process. This eliminated any surprise of unexpected pain during the treatment. His calm approach gives the patient total trust and confidence in his work. He even personally called to give me the test results. Dr. Holman is the BEST.
An appointment was scheduled with Dr. Holman for the facial rash that wasn't going healing. Dr. Holman was professional and seems very knowledgeable. He took his time without rushing and diagnosed the rash. Immediately he knew what prescription was needed for the face. He also explained what was causing the rash to reappear and to spread. The prescribed medicine worked wonders and in few days the rash began to disappear. All the staffs seemed professional and gets right to the point. They were not overly (kissing ass) friendly nor rude.
My husband ask me to make an apointment with a dermatologist and this office was the first popping in my screen and wich i considered the worst option and a waste of time because of the two"ladies"on the phone. (I don't know wich one is rudest than the other one) And im kind sayin just rude cuz i felt like punching them on the face. To bad that the talk was over the phone. But after they talk to me that way i reconsidered to go with people more profecional and educated. This office not even deserve half star but since coment appear to be incomplete if you dont pick at least one star then i have to do it and this doesn't mean that this treatment deserves it. i feel so bad for the doctor cuz this rude THINGS on the phone are making him look SOOOOO BAAAADD. Keep researching, THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME AND THE WORST OPTION YOU CAN MAKE!!!!
Honestly I'm a pretty nice person when it comes to reviews. Anyway. My experience wasn't extravagant! But I would have given this place 5 stars if the receptionist was more kind. I hate going into offices and the receptionist is already giving you a hard time about everything especially when I made an appointment and they never called to remind me.Dr. Holman was actually very patient and kind. He listened to what I needed to be done and helped me remove the white head/cyst from under my eye. Which took me 5 years to get rid of and it only took him 5 minutes. No extra appointments needed. So I'm happy about that. Other than that I had a great experience.
Today I attempted to schedule my 93 yr old mother who was complaining of a sore boil on her back with Dr. Holman. Our family have been patients for many years and I assumed there would be no problem getting in to see him. The boil was very infected and due to my mom's age, we didn't want to delay treatment. They were too booked and gave no helpful advice, even discouraged the chance to see his associate in the same office!!! Out of desperation I called my pharmacy and was luckily referred to Dr. John Doux in San Leandro and what a wonderful doctor he was. Besides being accomodating, he was friendly, warm and he had a nice sense of humor. He treated our mom with the utmost care. SHAME ON YOU DR. HOLMAN AND STAFF!!!
I hate to do this because Dr Herbert is a good doctor, but apparently their office was just bought out or merged with some big skin care company and the office staff was extremely rude. I was asked 3 times what my name was and if I had been there before. I said yes, last month. The clerk then went to the filing cabinet and said "Oh god, it's an "O" (last name starts with an 'O') as she had to bend over to the bottom drawer. The other clerk sighs and says something like, 'Yeah, I hate the 'O's too.' The clerk, with my 'O' file in her hands, asked if my insurance had changed. I said no. Then I was handed a 7 page application to fill out like I was a new patient. I handed back the top page first as directed and sat back down to finish the rest. I was a little pist that they were having me do their clerical work, when they clearly already had all this information, but I didn't say anything. As the clerks reviewed my first page, I hear the one clerk say "He didn't give us his SS#." And the other clerk said "Oh, he's going to be one of those types." That was it for me. I through down the clip board and said this is "bull sh#$, you guys are ridicules, good luck with the new company," and left.As I mentioned, I'v used Dr Herbert before and he was great. The office was great the last time I was there a month ago, under the old ownership. I'm not sure if these were new clerks or not, but they clearly hate their jobs and should not be around people. And oh-ya by the way, they have my personal information, so if I disappear after they see this review, you know who to look at.
I've seen Dr. Holman a few times now, and I've finally decided to look for other Doctors. I went in for facial acne and a rash on my lower legs. The facial acne medicine he prescribed (Tetrinoin) worked amazingly well for me and after a year I'm only using it weekly. Great results!Dr. Holman gets 2 stars because I'm still suffering from the rash on my legs and its been over a year. I feel I don't have any other option other than to switch to someone else as I just haven't quite gotten the attention I need from him. He seems to be in a rush even though I've only ever booked the first appointment in the mornings. I don't always get my questions answered and we haven't been able to come up with a solution. I can't take this annoying rash any longer, so it's time to find help elsewhere.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
