Good experience. Getting done what needs to be done. 👍
Always knowledgable and answers all my questions.
Always have a good experience with Dr Konkin. He is always very through, give you alternatives before any surgery. My husband and I have been using Dr Konkin since he came to Chico and highly recommend him.
Dr. Konkin has been my Orthopedist since 2018, when a non-union, spiral fracture of my Tibia and Fibula transpired. His expertise has helped me through a major trauma, many surgeries, and on the road back to living my active lifestyle again. Dr. Konkin is very knowledgeable in the Orthopedist profession, researching specific medical components and notable surgeons I needed for specialized surgeries, in order to remove an intramedullary rod so that he can conclude with my total knee replacement. I have entrusted Dr. Konkin for the last five years with my leg, as I have the utmost confidence in him.
After 1 year and 2 surgeries my daughter is now seeing a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Stanford for a bone infection. She was having issues with her ankle after her first surgery to repair torn ligaments . She had a second surgery to clean out infected area. It never healed. He sent us to a wound care specialist without taking X-rays or looking into the issue. Luckily my husband and I knew we needed a second option and headed to Stanford. She is getting ready to have a third surgery and repair with a plastic surgeon. I was very unpleased with the care and lack of help for my daughter.
Mom, 82, has been seen by Dr. Konkin for bursa's on her elbows. He and his MA, Kenzie, have been amazing. Surgeries have gone well and communication with the both of them are wonderful. Love the staff at Orthopedic Associates too.
Dr. Konkin is the best. He listens well and speaks in terms you can understand. I appreciated his attention to my concerns and his ability to be realistic about expectations. I would and have referred friends to him and they agree he is great.
Good job!
Overall my experience has been OK. Currently I am able to function sufficiently to remain in independent living. I was negatively impressed with the Iovera treatment which numbed the opposite side of my knee from where it was needed. It is recovering from that operation which I would not recommend to anyone. The more recent series of 3 knee injections seems to mitigate most of the sharp jabbing pain whenever I inadvertently twist it the wrong way. I suspect the DonJoy brace would work much better if it had been ordered correctly with the extension and flexion dampening hinges that are available on other models (according to the company sales representative). Although it was not recommended or offered, I've discovered the under-sleeve to be an essential part of the bracing package. Since I was and am currently recovering from a cardiac issue and episode which started just after my first visit with Dr. Konkin, I am not eager to pursue a knee replacement operation (partial or otherwise) until that is resolved. Even then, based on the Iovera experience, I'm not confident that Dr. Konkin is my best choice as a surgeon for that procedure. If I can somehow manage to live long enough for the PRP and stem cell injection therapies to become mainstream and paid for by Medicare; I think I shall prefer to limp along until they are since a partial knee replacement would preclude those as an option.
Dr. Konkin shared with me the details of my surgery and what to expect after surgery. I am very pleased with the results. His staff is efficient and helpful. It was a great experience.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
