List of Anthony G Sanzone's Reviews
I have been going to orthopedic Anthony sanzone for a little while. I received cortisone for different sites and gel for knees. He is an ok dr. His staff on the other hand are extremely rude when you have to make an appointment especially marylou. I filled out the survey that sharp sends out and gave an honest review of my experience there. After that the office contacted my regular dr to refuse treatment after giving me an appointment for May 8 which I waited for over 2 months prior. Be very careful when choosing this orthopedics.
I have been treated by dr sanzone. He refuses to give a one gel treatment. He insisted on 3 shots for one knee. Address to him about Mary- Lou that works in the office on how extremely rude every time I call it's like they don't want to treat and make you wait two months for an appointment. Be ware of this horrible orthopedic.
My aunt referred me to Dr. Sanzone because a friend works there. My mom had fractured her wrist the night before. He was able to squeeze us in between appointments the day I reached out (the morning after the accident). He let us know that she didn't need surgery. We were so relieved. Dr. Sanzone was kind and attentive. He took his time with us and made sure we understood the situation. My mom got her casting done by Nurse Marylou who did a great job. We were impressed. Overall happy with how the appointment went and looking forward to continue working with Dr. Sanzone.
I would like to make Dr. Sanzone aware that one of his office staff, Mary-Lou, was extremely unprofessional and rude on the phone. Every time I call the office for a patient update, she acts annoyed, has a horrible attitude, and ends each call with am abrupt hang-up.
Horrible experience at this Drs office! Scheduler named Dalilah threatened to charge me a 50$ cancellation fee because I was too ill to drive in to my appointment. I called well before my appointment time to reschedule due to a food poisoning incident I had had the week prior where I had spent two days in the hospital. I was still too ill to drive but when I called to tell her this she went off on me! Told me that it wasn't an acceptable reason and that they would require me to pay the 50$ fee before rescheduling. I have no intention of ever going to this Dr or his office when someone this heartless is an employee of theirs.
I received great care from Dr. Sanzone. I had complex injuries from being hit by a truck while cycling. He explained well what would happen, what recovery would be like, and was very attentive to me and my family. I'd recommend him in a minute for any traumatic injury.
This is the worst medical practice I've ever encountered. The MD is overbooked, and his office staff is unprofessional and uncaring. We were unable numerous times to contact the doctor, calls weren't returned by the office staff, and even when a call was promised calls weren't made. Her first operation failed, and a second one was booked, then the date was pushed back and we weren't notified, which caused scheduling complications with my work. With the change in dates the need for more pain medication was completely ignored, so my wife experienced continual pain for days (and intense pain when she moved). We're still hoping for her eventual recovery, but she is being tortured by this incompetent practice.
I have no idea if Dr. Sanzone is even aware of what's happening in his office. If he is, shame on him for failing to follow the "no harm" Doctors oath. My son was refered to him by Sharp ER. Called to get a appointment time and was told they don't take insurance. Called insurance and told "yes he's under contract with us". Called back and was basically told the insurance doesn't pay enough so they won't see him. Now I have to try and get another referal wasting precious time.
I DO NOT WANT TO EVEN GIVE THIS GUY 1 STAR. He and his people are extremely rude ! My husband has been suffering with a bad leg for years. And we were told they couldn't do surgery. Now years later. My husband's medical doctor recommended this guy again because that's who is covered with our insurance. So appointment set. Then a week later they call saying we had a outstanding balance of 35 dollars that we were not aware of from last visit . So they told my husband they can't see him. So my husband said well can I just pay it and keep my appointment. They said no. SERIOUSLY! This guy sucks ! And a real POS
I will forever be scarred by the carelessness. ineptitude, personal beliefs or whatever was the reason for the butcher-job Dr Anthony Sanzone did to repair by internal fixation the 30 fractures (according to Sanzone himself) to my right tibia/knee. I had the misfortune of being put under his care after being life-flighted to Sharp Memorial's ER after a solo car accident around sunrise on August 22, 2014. I first had surgery to attend to my broken nose and facial lacerations and then several days passed before my first orthopedic surgery by Sanzone happened. I was sent home in a wheelchair, knees and right lower leg wrapped in bandages, no cast or brace or other device to prevent movement of the bones which could perhaps compromise the surgical implants, not to mention the pain caused by movement only days after surgery. A week or so passed and my leg hurt so bad I asked a friend to take me to an ER -- for sure not back to Sharp. So we decided on Scripps where I explained the situation. New xrays showed recent and untreated fractures just below the knee. A new surgery was scheduled with Scripps Mercy and in a few days I arrived with optimism of a new orthopedic but as I was prepped to go under, in walked Sanzone. He scolded me for my ill behavior before/during/after the first surgery. ? I apologized although I did not then nor do I today recollect my behavior to which he referred. Seeing his face and understanding I did not escape from being in his care still haunts me. So surgery took place and I was sent home, again with only bandages. The new incisions were three short cuts across my knee which were stitched up individually like tic-tac-toe, three little x's in a line. I returned to have the stitches removed. Because they were not all or not correctly removed I had to return twice more (2 hour drive, one way) to see Sanzone for removal of pieces of the three small stitches. No trained person can look at xrays of that area and spot the heads of three lag screws protruding above my knee cap. They appear as screws in wood, not properly countersunk, not even close to being driven in flush with the surface of my patella. I'm not trained in medicine and I don't know if this is a common way to internally fix fractures but the workmanship at the very least was quite shabby. Oftentimes these screw heads will hit an object (such as trailer hitch of same height) and cause a bruise or cut and great throbbing pain. Despite a few years of physical therapy that leg cannot straighten out for mechanical reasons, because, like a shear panel, screwed and nailed with so much hardware, it can't. Nor will it bend past an ordinary stiting bend of the knee. Nearly a year before this accident I was creamed by a truck that failed to yield to me on my motorcycle. I broke all limbs, four open fractures and crushed both knees, on Nov. 11, 2013. I was hit so hard and flung so far, over the truck and onto the road, apparently landing with boths wrists open and out, my hands were bent back onto my arms at the wrist joint. The incision scar on my left wrist is such as that of a bracelet and on the right wrist the incision runs lengthwise for several inches. So when I was first seen by Sanzone in Sharp's ER, rather than looking at my medical records or even asking me about the scars, he assumed they were there from one or more suicide attempts. He actually wrote in my record, and I paraphrase, that any medical attention given to me would be wasted resources since I had tried to kill myself in the past and would only live on to try again. I would have expected a trained surgeon to know the difference between a scar made from a cut of deliberate origin and one made from a collection of sharp fragments of bone that are created in an instant; the simple physics of motion that occur when a body in motion encounters a massive wall of steel; the body storing the energy of the impact and the bones doing their best to release that energy in the best way it can. Sanzone has the right to his own personal beliefs but whatever they may be they should not inform his professional decisions and responsibilities as a surgeon. It has been several years and I have come near to regaining the level of productivity and independence I have worked hard to gain and maintain all my adult life. Sanzone imposed his own (incorrect) assumptions and morals on me as I appeared before him, a breath away from death. I could not have known then what I know today and the pain and sight of my knee will always be there to remind me that doctors can indeed do you a good deal of further harm. Why can I not give him no stars?

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
