My mom saw this doctor one time and decided to seek a second opinion at UC San Diego. She was recently notified that Dr. Andrey is under investigation by the California Medical board for serious legal issues. Read the report and decide for yourself if you would want care from this doctor in light of his license issues. Glad my mom is getting her care at the university.
Came into the room, used his stethoscope, looked over the lab results, told me I had leukemia, and walked out. What's next? Who knows? I saw him a few times & he never was forthcoming with ANY information. I have a different Dr now.
Dr. Andrey avoids his patients and their families. Despite my father being a patient of Dr. Andrey’s for several years, he never spoke to my dad again after he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Dr. Andrey let residents inform my father of his diagnosis and never discussed a treatment plan with him. Even when dad was at the office for chemo, Dr. Andrey avoided him! I phoned his staff multiple times with questions and concerns—even begging Dr. Andrey to contact my father—with no response. When I finally got his assistant on the phone, she denied that any of my messages ever reached her or the doctor. If you or your loved one wants to be ignored during the end of your life, then Dr. Andrey is made for you; however, if you want a doctor who is honest, accessible, and concerned for your life, run as fast as you can to another doctor!
One of the best doctors I have ever seen. He is compassionate and takes time explaining things. His help transformed my health for a simple condition that every other doctor overlooked and did not take seriously for years. He did take me seriously and I am so grateful for him, I can't put it into words. What a wonderful doctor and human, simple as that.
I was just made aware of the VERY critical and damaging comments made about Dr. Andrey and Scripps. My experience is 100% opposite. Dr. Andrey diagnosed me with Lymphoma some 4 years ago and has kept me going since with immuno and chemo treatments. He is a 5 star hematologist. I have seen him at least 4 to 5 times a year and he has become a friend to me and my wife. He reminds me of a close relative who is also a professional. They have the great capacity of concentration. At times, their minds maybe on very complex issues (like difficult operations) and they may seem somewhat distance, but it does not take away from their compassion and dedication. To me, he is my HERO! The infusion facility at Scripps Rancho Bernardo is extremely well run with dedicated and outstanding nurses, may of whom have become friends. I have lived in various countries throughout my life under different medical systems and my experience with Scripps from primary to specialist care has been outstanding! Scripps is very well run and their specialist are tops!
Listens carefully and responds with compassion and intelligence. Very impressive knowledge of his field and passion for his specialty. More interest and concern for my specific condition and set of issues than I have found in other doctors. His proactive approach took a great burden from my shoulders in trying to figure out how to proceed in dealing with a rare and complex condition.
He may know what he is doing based upon his studies, but he is lacking in palliative care, compassion, or quick action. His wait and see attitude costs people pain, healing and tears FOR days to weeks. He was not our primary dr thankfully as at least our dr tried to adequately alleviate my husband's pain. Dr. Andrey couldn't care less about comfort. Don't believe the show they start with to reel you in and be ready for outright battle for outright basic pain management even in the most acute cancer patients. Also, expect to wait a LONG time and after a few months don't ever expect to hear from Scripps again no matter what they say. We're now going cash to City of Hope to buy time for my 44 year old husband with our nine year old son. Scripps is arrogant and dangerous. Go ANYWHERE but here, PLEASE.
I chose to remain with Dr. Andrey as my primary care physician after undergoing a successful bone marrow transplant at Scripps Green. I always took the time to explain things to me and discuss options - both pro and con. I rate HIM at 4 stars. He and his staff have been extremely accommodating when scheduling my visits around MY work schedule. I love this guy, he is one of three doctors at Scripps Green that I owe my life to.
