An MRI showed something in my gallbladder that suggested cancer. Dr. Summers was quick to reassure me that it was much more likely to be benign gallbladder disease, and why. He said he was only very slightly worried and that was enough for both of us, so I should try to relax. They fit me in quickly when another surgery was cancelled. What he said to me just before surgery let me know he was very aware of me and my concerns. He had his nurse call me when the pathology report was available to let me know it was clear. Recovery was quick. I just had my follow-up appointment and everything is good. Highly recommend for excellent, personal care.

I was referred to Dr. Summers last year for a painful groin hernia I’ve had for 15 years that was getting worse and worse. When it started to impact my fitness I decided to schedule the surgery. This was my first (hopefully last) surgery and Dr. Summers and his nurse Bertha were so professional and knowledgeable. Dr. summers clearly has decades of experience under his belt and knows what to do. I had the surgery on June 21, 2018 and I am full recovered and back running. Thank you!

I had surgery for an inguinal hernia repair. In our prelim appointment Dr. Summers answered my questions and coherently defended his recommendation for my particular case: incision vice da Vinci robotic. The surgery and recovery were flawless. I give Dr. Sumer and his operating room staff the highest possible marks. By the way, there is no substitute for an experienced surgeon. They all have to learn somewhere, but my recommendation is let other folks be the training aids at teaching hospitals.

Completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and unethical.

I came to dr. Summer in December 2016 I was treated with so much respect and care he and his nurse. Bertha are the best team to have. I'm glad to have the team at coast surgical to treat my breast cancer head on. If you have to deal with that type of cancer this is the place to come to. I had my gall-bladder taken out by Dr Summers the Monday before Thanksgiving, which happened to be the day after my birthday. Dr. Summers was nice, personable, professional and did a good job (apparently - I'm still here, after-all). Nurses felt bad for me - being my birthday, but Dr. Summers shared my outlook that I was taking my first step toward getting better! Overall, I had an excellent experience in Sharp Coronado Hospital, and with Dr. Summers. I'd do it again, but alas, I have no more gall-bladders to give.

This man has zero redeeming qualities. He is rude, arrogant, and condescending to patients and medical staff alike. I wish I'd have know these things before going to him for a rather routine surgery, which he botched and I had to spend (29) days in the hospital due to his ineptitude. In all that time (I saw him every day) He never once showed remorse, or barely even gave me the time of day. The hospital staff can't stand him either. I wouldn't wish him on a lab rat.
