Muhammad K Akbar's Online Review Report Card

My interactions with Dr. Akbar have been frightening and frustrating. He is very gruff and condescending and he does not listen. AT ALL. I am suffering from major cervicallumbar and sacral damage. The MRIS of my spine they took and have prove it He gives absolutely no pain medication and no suggestions to help with pain. He does not correctly read my emails which causes me more grief $80 copays and rescheduling with proper specialists within Kaiser organization. Still with untreated symptoms and pain to include sciatica joint erosionsevere narrowing of spinal canal and spinal cord and pinched nerves running up and down my legs and arm. The amount of over the counter NSAIDs and pain relievers Ive taken are now ineffective and have caused much distress and bleeding in my stomach lining. Gabapentin is ineffective and messes with my antidepressants. Ive tried yoga and pilates and I remain physically active in spite of my pain. Dr. Akbar is NOT a pain relief specialist The fact that his labeled expertise as a pain management specialist and physical therapist is laughable. He told me to go to my primary physician for pain relief medication and she referred me to dr. Akbar who is again referring me back to my primary Dr. Nalbandyan. Where does that leave me? It has been over 6 months Ive been seeking treatment from Kaiser for this specific problem. Ive been with Kaiser for over 4 years and I feel very hopeless. Dr. Akbar wont even give Lyrica which should help with the terrible nerve pain. I feel that this provider does not care about me. This leaves me feeling helpless and hopeless and very depressed to the point of suicidal idealation. I am currently waiting to hear from Kaiser about spinal epidurals but nothing for pain until such procedure. I have very high co payments and my husband and I pay nearly $800 a month for my monthly premiums and the level of care is no better than care Ive received from the county. County care is better than Kaiser and that is very sad. Such a shame. No physical therapy or advice as I lay here remaining untreated for my lumbar sacral blow out. I understand the concern of Kaiser not wanting to be held liable over an opioid prescription but if I were a threat I would have given up by now and saved my 8 to $900 a month and gone to a drug dealer on the street for temporary relief until such approved procedure were scheduled. This could be another potential way Kaiser contributes to opioid addiction. in the Year 2005 have a similar problem happened with my back and went to see my primary PPO physician who referred me to a specialist who performed a laminectomy while treating for pain and infection. This entire process took less than a month providing lasting results for nearly 16 years. epidurals I have had in the last couple of years have provided relief. I am just hoping for treatment soon and for relief. I dont know what to do at this point. I feel bad to write this but feel obligated to warn you.
