My wife and I both have gone to Dr. Ortiz for years now. Her practice is state of the art; which is comforting. Dr. Ortiz is very nice, knowledgeable and stands behind her work. We always feel that we are getting exceptional care, and would recommend her to anyone

Don't go to her!! Her office is very unprofessional. I originally saw Dr. Ortiz to get a second option on a root canal. Based on x-rays, I was told I needed a root canal. Since my tooth did not hurt, I wanted a second option. Of course, she said I needed one and pointed to the x-ray..."see?" The endodontist, Dr. Ryan Lavene only comes in once a month on Saturdays. He was working the upcoming Saturday, so I booked my appointment for 10a. I cleared my day since I was not sure how I would feel after the root canal. 10a Saturday morning, I am sitting in the waiting room. Twenty minutes go by before they tell me that there was a mix up and that the doctor was not coming in today. WHAT?? Dr. Ortiz called later that day to apologize for the mix up. She did not have an explanation, but said it never happens and will never happen again. She said she would make it right. I still don't know where the mix up took place...with Dr. Ortiz's office or Dr. Lavene. Fine! We rescheduled for the following Saturday, since Dr. Lavene will be in the office. I once again cleared the day. Three days before the appointment I got what looked like an automatic email reminding me of the appointment. The very next day, Dr. Ortiz send me a personal email letting me know that my appointment has been canceled. WHAT? AGAIN? No explanation, no phone call...so very unprofessional. Your time is too important to go to Dr. Ortiz or Dr. Lavene.

I was finally able to speak with Dr Ortiz herself and explain my situation to her! She offered to waive the charges if I continue to come to her office. I thought that was very nice of her because I didn't necessarily want to go try to find anohter dentist :) The next time I went in she herself cleaned my teeth, so this was a relief. However, I am still skeptical as they recommended I come in for extra cleanings and cavity fillings that my insurance does not cover and I am not sure is necessary :(

I was initially very pleased with the service here. The staff was freindly and my hygeniest cleaned my teeth very well. However, they tried to charge me for a special cleaning which I did not ask for. I went in for my regular bi-annual cleaning that is covered by my insurance and at the end the receptionist gave me a bill. I am in the process of disputing this with my insurance, so will not be returning to this office. It is my understanding that health policy requires doctors or dentists to first inform you of any special service and charges associate to get the patient's approval prior to performing the work.

I love Dr. Ortiz, but I may love Olga, the receptionist, even more! She will call if Dr. Ortiz is behind schedule, so you don't have to leave your job, and she will do anything possible to get you a quicker appointment if she can slot you in. She is familiar without being too fresh, and is pleasant. A real star and asset.This is the type of place that asks you what you hated about your last dentist (I hated the hard sell of some pricey service) and they WON'T DO THE SAME THING! Dr. Ortiz is friendly, explains everything and does her best to make you comfortable.The hygienists are friendly and top notch. Jennifer revolutionized the way I brush my teeth, frankly (45 degree angle, circles, the right way to floss, two minutes).A LOT of people in the office go to her, and everyone raves about her. I have referred three people to her so far, and would refer even more if I got a chance. You'll love her!!

Dr. Ortiz has been my dentist for over 6 years and I've loved every biannual visit! She's helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and gentle, but most importantly, she wears scented gloves! Sometimes, they're strawberry, sometimes they're orange or vanilla or raspberry, but I always appreciate the gesture. Her office is comfortable and contemporary, with warm colors, natural light, flat screen TVs (mounted in the ceiling above each dental chair), and Bose headphones. Her office staff is amazing and will learn your name and ask about your family. The hygienists are super capable, friendly, and quick. Basically, Dr. Ortiz is the kind of lady you'd want as a pal. She's professional, but warm, offers suggestions without being pushy, and doesn't get mad at me, even though I never floss. She's also a good person - she donated to a charity walk I did a few years ago!A couple extra notes: They have the requisite samples as you leave, but no off-brand stuff here - it's only the best for Dr. Ortiz's patients! CSI Miami is filmed right below her windows, so you might catch a glance of Horatio while getting your cleaning! When you refer new patients (and I think I'm up to 5 referrals now), she will send you a Baskin-Robbins gift certificate as a thank you! (On that note, tell her Katie H. sent you!) :)

My experience with Dr. Ortiz was mixed. She's very nice and seems to know what she's doing. Yet, when I went in for a simple, basic cleaning--the kind that's recommended 2x a year, not the heavy-duty root scaling, etc., that some people end up needing--she billed my insurance $250 for a "full & complete examination."She cleaned my teeth and did a decent job. Unfortunately, her staff fraudulently billed my insurance for services that I did not receive. Then again, she employs them and pays them a salary.I called and said there was a "mistake" in that my insurance was billed for services I didn't receive. After several weird long silences in between everything she said, the office staff said she'd have to talk to the doctor. She called back a day or two later and said that they could return the money to my insurance company. She seemed shocked when I said, Okay. After another weird long silence, she said, Or we could schedule an appointment for you to get an exam.Then, she tried to blame me for the fraudulent billing, saying it was because I hadn't wanted X-rays when my teeth were cleaned. (I'd had X-rays where I used to live and prefer to limit my radiation exposure to what's absolutely necessary.) She asked what I thought a complete exam should consist of that hadn't been done. I said, For example, my gum pockets should've been measured and my mouth should've been inspected for signs of cancer.After keeping me waiting so long (over 30 min and when I asked she said it would be a while longer) that I said I'd have to re-schedule at one app't, I was finally seen. It did seem as if she was putting me off though, as if hoping that I'd give up, because this whole process took a couple of months.Dr. Ortiz limited what she did to the examples I gave--she measured my gum pockets and inspected my mouth for cancer. $250 for that and a simple cleaning still seemed overly expensive, if not exorbitant.I'm looking for another dentist--one who is not only good at what they do and knowledgeable, but also honest and ethical.

I tried a couple of dentists in the area when I first moved here and didn't like them much. Luckily I found Dr. Ortiz. She and her team a very informative, have a skilled touch, and are very professional.
