John Muir Concord Urgent Care's Online Review Report Card

Subpar location, dated facility and equipment, rude staff, they struggle to stick to their appointment times, expect to easily sit in the waiting room for up to an hour after your appointment since they can't competently schedule it seems. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you can

I got water in my right ear on Saturday and started having periodic shooting pain. I couldn't get an appointment at any urgent care on Sunday so I got an appointment here on Monday. I was seen and it was a complete waste of time and co payment. The doctor said I didn't have an ear infection so wait 3 days and follow up with my doctor. I haven't felt any better all week and in fact even combing out my hair where I get the shooting pain is tender. I was told by my doctor that I probably have water in my eustachian tube and what to do for it. I will NEVER come back here and will instead go back to Brentwood Urgent Care where at least they listen to me and are thorough.

Arrived at 6 PM. Already booked full, no appointments available for urgently needed surgical dressing change. Crowded Waiting Room. All had masks.

Waited almost 2hrs to not be seen by a doctor. No one even in the waiting room when I got placed in the patient room to wait for the doctor, who hadn’t taken his lunch yet. When the doctor did come back I could hear them all having plenty conversation about the giants game and when he finally went to actually see his patients, none of them were me. Room after room he walked into after I had already been waiting an hr and a half. I get they want you to have an appointment but at that point I would have been better off going to the ER. This is why ERs are bursting at the seems. They have one doctor working urgent care and staff that could care less. I expect more from John Muir Health. Do yourself a favor and just make an appt with your PCP or try and get a same day at your PCPs office, because at least there you will be seen and your copay will be less. Or just go to the ER, which I hate to say.

Excellent, friendly staff and prompt service! One of the best hospital experiences I've ever had.

Temporarily staying with family here in Concord (I lived in Elk Grove,Ca).I had been fighting flu-like symptoms for about 2 weeks. Monday June 3, 2019 woke up with red blotches all over my upper body. I have Blue Shield health insurance, with my primary care with the US Davis Medical Group. Because of my symptoms I couldn't make the 1.5 hour   drive so I called the Blue Shield office, explained my condition and for approval to see a doctor in Concord. I was given approval to go the John Muir Urgent Care.  Upon my arrival time I was greeted well by the receptionist. She did intake and soon I was in a room. Vitals were taken and I waited for the doctor. I saw Dr John Cho who immediately questioned why I was there and not at my own medical office and didn't I know how HMOs worked. He was more concerned about me not being a John Muir patient than my medical condition. He looked at my blotches, ignored the other symptoms I told him about and continued with me being out of my network. He had no explanation for the red blotches and said he was reluctant to do any tests because they were expensive and I wasn't a JM patient. I explained I received pre-authorization from Blue Shield who accepted responsibility. He suggested I drive to Sacramento because UC Davis Hospital was "only 45 minutes away ". I was shocked that he was willing to send me on my way with the numerous symptoms I had, especially the dizziness and spinning. He left the room for about 10 minutes then returned with a colleague to look at my skin. Both didn't know the reason for the blotches and again suggested I seek help with my doctor in Elk Grove. I showed him from the Maps App that it was an 1 hr and 26 minute drive. He ignored me again and they left the room. Shortly after a nurse came in and swabbed my throat. The doctor returned and said I tested positive with strep throat, prescribed antibiotics and sent me on my, never addressing the red blotches on my skin, the vertigo symptoms or ear and headaches. Doctors haven taken an oath to heal and treat the sick they come in contact with. I heard high praise about John Muir that I was shocked to be treated this way even after showing I had prior authorization for my own health insurance plan. I encourage John Muir to look into their medical professionals so no one else will experience what I have been through.
