Stephanie Wong Md's Online Review Report Card

At the scariest time of my life (cancer diagnosis at the start of Covid), Dr. Wong was the best thing that could have happened to me. She takes her time explaining things, answering any questions, and generally made me feel taken care of and cared about. I could not recommend a better surgeon, I felt at ease day of surgery and after.

Thank you for the care of Dr. Wong. She is an amazing surgeon, physician, and person. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, and skillful. She cares for her patients’ wellbeing, open to dialogue and explains her treatment course of action. Great communicator with patient and family members. Successful surgery under her professional care. Very grateful for her expertise! Thank you so very much Dr. Stephanie Wong!!! Dr. Wong has put me through a real nightmare when I was ill and then later diagnosed with Lyme disease. She showed no empathy for my pain, ignored the urgency of my physical and emotional needs, and above all repeatedly put up no-can-do walls. I have been with PAMF for 11 years now, and what Dr. Wong had put me through I would not wish even to my enemy who is ill. If you are considering Dr.Wong ask yourself: when real bad stuff happens to my body do I want to be invalidated and dismissed by someone who's referrals and support I depend on? This doctor is lacking basic human empathy.

I wanted to share my experience as a patient with this doctor on a public domain because I work in the same system as Dr. Wong. I suffer from chronic pain and have a great pain management team at Stanford. Stanford Redwood City Pain Management is doing many new modalities to avoid narcotics. I was assigned to Dr Wong and went with her because of her great reputation. She does smile a lot when she meets you. However, her visits are 15 minutes. When I requested that she help me obtain an authorization to go to Stanford Pain management she became abrupt, short and almost threatening. I have a PPO. She started pushing a Butrans patch on me after I specifically told her that I worked for years to get off narcotic agents. When I told her about Butrans addictive potential she had the gall to tell me it is not addictive. She had no knowledge about novel non narcotic treatments Stanford was offering but acted like an authority on pain management. Dr. Wong then essentially let me know its either her way or I need to find another provider. I wrote my feedback to Sutter Health online survey. One month later I received a letter in the mail with a discharge notice from her practice saying she is "taking a new role." However, she still has a full practice and the staff mistakenly tried to book me a follow up visit with her practice after the dismissal letter. So her practice is only closed for me. I think if you are young and healthy a 15 minute visit with a "fake smiling" doctor, who knows nothing about current concepts in complex disease management, Dr. Wong will be just fine. However, I think she abuses her power in a Sutter system because nothing I did warrants my discharge from her practice. I was polite and such dismissal is a continuity of care law violation in California. I was not planning to go back anyway. I will try my luck finding a PCP at Stanford. At least there they have modern approaches to chronic disease.

I've been a patient of Dr. Wong for many years and absolutely love her.She asks lots of questions and always takes the time to listen. I find her to be very personable and has a good sense of humor as well.I highly recommend Dr. Wong.

I went to see her in May for my wrist problem after giving birth. I had to wait over a month to make an appointment with her. After waiting for 30 min past appointment time, she rushed me through the entire time (I got to see her for only 10 min), and she was so focused on filling out the paperwork and selling me the wrist guard that she didn't give me any other instructions on what other things I can do until I kept asking her about the exercises and PT. The wrist guard she gave me was so massive and rough-surfaced that I couldn't possibly use while taking care of a newborn. I ended up buying a soft wrist guard from the safeway for $20. Now, I received a $125 bill for the wrist guard she sold me. I should've read the form that she told me to sign before I signed it, but she was rushing me the whole time, and told me to "sign here," without giving me time to read it. I know she has great reviews, but my last experience with her was just the worst. I am changing my primary physician for sure.

Dr. Wong is the best doctor I have ever had. She is super friendly and knowledgeable. Unlike most other doctors, she spends a lot of time listening and really understanding the issues I am having. Also, every time I come in for my physical, she is never in a rush. She sits with me patiently until all my concerns are addressed. From my experience, this is very uncommon with doctors - usually they are trying to get out of the room as fast as possible. Also, whenever I call, she responds that same day which is wonderful. I have never had such great response time from a doctor. Lastly, she is great about keeping family's with one doctor. My brother, my sister-in-law, and I have her as a doctor and even though she was technically closed off to taking on more patients, she took on both of my parents just so we could all have the same doctor. Everyone in my family uses her and everyone in my family loves her. Unfortunately, I have recently moved out of the area so she is no longer my doctor =( but she is still so helpful for the rest of my family.
