SHAME ON YOU DR. MARVIN RAPAPORT!THIS MAN IS A MONSTER!I took my sister to see Dr. Marvin Rapaport after seeing an interview he did on Red Skin Syndrome (AKA: Topical Steroid Withdrawal). My sister had given up hope that any doctor / dermatologist could help her, But then I found that video of Dr. Marvin Rapaport talking to a women who had the same problem as my sister. I can't tell you how excited I was that someone was talking about this disease I told my sister we had to try one more doctor and she agreed to go.Now let me be clear my sister doesn't have a small problem she has a HUGE problem with her skin. I have spent so many months hearing her scream in pain, months of seeing her unable to get out of bed, months of her skin flaking, stinging, and itching from head to toe. 99% of her body is covered in this rash that leaves her with the feeling of a million papercuts and electric shocks from head to toe. When we arrived for the first appointment, we were shocked to see cards and photos from patients Dr. Marvin Rapaport had help. Finally I thought we found someone who could help my sister. He walked in and we were crying with joy that we had finally found someone who would help and acknowledge that the medical system had failed my sister. If only I would have known that Dr. Marvin Rapaport would be the worst, most vile doctor of the hundred we have seen. All seemed to be going ok at first, he acted like he cared and got her on medication that did help her symptoms. The only problem we seemed to have is that when she would go to follow up appointment and explain what changes and problems she was experiencing he would shout at her with the response "I know!!! I know!! I know what problems you have I don't need to know anymore just take the medication." We even asked the nurses if he was always like this with patients and they would say "I am so sorry, he definitely has his ways about him."I told my sister this was not an appropriate response from a doctor especially one who has made a documentary (which he advertised at every appointment) and she should say something but she said he was getting her the medication she needed and she couldn't keep searching for doctors so we would have to deal with his attitude and know he won't listen to her updates. Now as I stated before my sister can barely get out of bed. Even with the medication she is in pain and she is not very mobile. We were told virtual visits were not available and she would need to come in. On one particularly bad day she was not able to make the appointment so she canceled in advance and was told that the next cancelation would cause a $50.00 cancelation fee...which I understood. Several months later she had to cancel again and I called in and paid the $50.00 cancelation fee. I then got a message saying I would have to pay $100.00 deposit to be seen on the next appointment. I told her I had already paid the late fee and I was not prepared to pay $100.00 more but I would come in and pay in advance for the next appointment if it was that big of an issue. She then told me it was fine and to just come in.Knowing Dr. Marvin Rapaport attitude with my sister I decided to take off work and go with her to this appointment in case he yells at her. Well thank god I did! The nurse comes in and takes our info as normal and then Dr. Marvin Rapaport comes in.....He sits in the chair in front of us arms crossed, scowl on his face and legs stretched out like he is some kind of tough guy.My sister says " Hi Dr. Marvin how are you?" He then snaps at her and says "This isn't about me this appointment is about you!"I then say why are you speaking to her like that?He says "She has missed several appointments"I said "She has missed two appointments in eight months and I paid for the second missed appointment and offered to pay in full for the next appointment."He then yells "I don't need any of your lip!"I say "I am not trying to argue but how could you be so cruel and uncaring? You know what she is going through and that she can barely stand, and you just made a documentary about people with her disease."He responds with " I think you should go to another doctor she is no longer welcome here"He then quickly walks out of the room. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO SOMEONE???OVER TWO MISSED APPOINTMENTS IN EIGHT MONTHS WHICH I PAID FOR?!This man made a whole documentary about how debilitating this disease is and this is what he does to patients?! Takes away he medication which in itself can cause major medical side effects from just stopping it and not gradually stopping the medicine. At this point we have now lost hope in the medical system.... Even the doctor who made a documentary about this disease doesn't care about patients.
He charged me a lot of money for short e-mails. He also wouldn’t give me a letter for insurance because I questioned him on that. He then accused me of accusing him of all these Odd things when, I only accused him of saying an email took much more time than it really would have based on the characters. I have the entire thread. I paid $650 American for a few emails and a 30 minute consult diagnosis.
I came from Oregon to see Dr. Rapaport for a horrible case of TSW (topical steroid withdrawal) or Red Skin Syndrome. I was suffering badly. He spent over an hour listening to me and my daughter's concerns. He is so expert on this condition. I felt very cared for and his staff is superb. I had to return because the swelling was so serious. The staff wanted to see me immediately and although it was a time when he was out of the office, his PA's were well informed and helped me right away. The healing of this condition takes a long time and is painful to go through, I feel so safe under his very capable care. He is the only expert for this condition.I don't get the previous bad reviews. Dr. Rapaport has always been veryempathetic and attentive to what I'm going through. Don't let the bad reviews influence your decision. Dr. Rapaport is a very well informed dermatologist and his office staff is a pleasure.
Maxine Asher mother of a daughter who suffered from red skin syndrome from ages 10 to 13 dr. This doctor was very rude, mean, unpersonable, and an egomaniac. Go if you want to get yelled at or scolded at. He gave my friend no information that was valid after flying to him from far away. 10/10 do NOT recommend.
This man should not be allowed to be a doctor with his GOD AWFUL manners. If you want to feel like an idiot or if you want to have an old man yell at you in your face for asking a single question, go ahead and see him. His ego is so gigantic that he thinks patients asking questions means that they are questioning his knowlegde when they actually just want information you don't understand.
Dr. Rapaport is an absolutely amazing, intelligent doctor that understands skin better than any of his peers. For years I suffered with "bad eczema" which was actually steroid damage, and he was able to pinpoint that. Of course, like Valerie M mentioned, things get worse before they get better. What she didn't mention however was that his "big breakthrough" has been the subject of many studies and wrongfully used steroids damage the body terribly. She only got worse after stopping the steroids because all of the steroid damage was becoming apparent. Having been off the steroids now for over a year, I am drastically better, and she would have been too if she had followed through with his advice to stop the steroids. Patients looking for a quick fix need to do some research and read the studies...
This is my first time writing bad review because i had such a bad experience with this office( Dr Marvin ) and i don't want other patients to go through what I went .I had bad rashes and itchiness after my vacation , I went to see Dr Marvin and in the first 5 minutes he asked my If I leave in house and If I have a pool and how is my business .After looking at my legs 2 feet away he told me that this is a bug bite , I told him that i saw a doctor when I was in Europe and he told me that this is for sure not bug bite, he insisted that its and send me home with medication and ask me to come back next week .After suffering all week he looked at my legs again and told me to continuo with medication its bug bite , after anther one week he told me to come in and did biopsy cut and stitched my leg ( now I have a scar ) and the result was nothing and when i spoke to him again he asked me to come back and see his daughter for second opinion . That's when I went to see a different doctor. This Doctor is all abut selling you in high price the creams that they have and keep bringing the patients back again and again to collect co payment and screw the insurance company the make you wait more than 1 Hr every time and never answer the phone.......

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
