I was ask to leave a review, but honestly I didn’t even end up getting seen by a doctor here. I had an allergic reaction and was having a hard time breathing, but the check-in lady was unnecessarily rude and lacks empathy. I ended up calling an Uber for the Kaiser hospital nearby and while waiting for the Uber, one of the male nurses or doctor that just finished his shift started hitting on us and asking for our numbers when I was coughing and struggling to talk.I was ask to leave a review, but honestly I didn’t even end up getting seen by a doctor here. Staff was unfriendly, inattentive, and condescending. Didn’t feel safe in the lobby or in the back, genuinely feared for my safety. After I was prescribed medication, it took 45 minutes for them to print and give me the prescription. The doctor also would not discharge me after I’d asked multiple times to just be released. The only nice and comforting staff member was the guy who took my blood, which happened in the lobby….Highly recommend increased security in that environment.Staff was unfriendly, inattentive, and condescending. I was in this hospital for 12 days, the Doctors are Top Notch, thorough and the will answer any question you have. The nurses are responsive knowledgeable and kind. Don't believe the other reviews they gave me hope and love I appreciate there kindness,Excellent Doctors !!! They go the extra mile
Overall good
First of all, I did not choose Southern California Hospital. My insurance, LA Care chose it for me. For the most part, the nursing staff sucked. With the exception of one or two nurses, they were inattentive, had no bedside manners, and in a few cases were downright rude(Paulina). The doctors while no doubt competent, were not vocal enough about what they were doing. I like to be kept abreast of what is going on with my Healthcare at all times. They would tell me one thing, only to change course and not be bothered to tell me about the changes. I did not like the food and the rooms were hot. The sink was stopped up, and the bathroom was not accessible.First of all, I did not choose Southern California Hospital. My insurance, LA Care chose it for me. I went to the ER around 3 am and cut my chin pretty bad along with big abrasions on my left hand and elbow. 5 stars for the kind and hard-working staff. This late at night, the service is a bit slow and understaffed. Dr. Sean Howse treated me with excellent care and clearly explained the procedures that I needed to get done in order to heal. I had a few X-rays and he stitched my chin up pretty well. His directions were clear and he had a sense of humor to put things in perspective for me to cheer up from my bad fall. I really appreciated that and felt a little bit better. Just wanted to say thank you to him and the nurses and techs that night. They go through a lot during that time of day. I had just graduated and wished I didn't get in an accident but they were all really nice to me.
Check in was terrible for an emergency, nobody was in the front desk for 15 min as I sat there and waited in extreme pain. Then another 5 mins filling out forms in pain, to then be asked to wait another 10 mins and then asked a bunch of questions. The help was done quickly and issue resolved within hours.Check in was terrible for an emergency, nobody was in the front desk for 15 min as I sat there and waited in extreme pain. On Thursday, June 9, 2022, my mom was admitted to the hospital because she was going to have surgery. On this day I asked two different security guards what the protocol was for visitors. They said they needed to have their Covid vaccination card or a negative Covid test within the last 72 hours. I also asked these two security guards what the age requirement was for visitors. They said there was no age requirement and that any children can come. Fast forward two days, on Saturday, June 11 I walk up to the front desk, I sign in and I tell the security guard which room I am going to. The security guard proceeds to tell me that I will not be able to bring my children upstairs to visit my mom.I was very upset because we drove one hour to come visit my mom and I had already asked on Thursday two different people and they said it wouldn’t be a problem. The security guard at the front desk told me the age requirement for visitors is 12 and above. Then another security guard came and told me that the age requirement is 16 and above. I was very confused because I was getting different answers from different security guards. It shouldn’t be that hard for everyone who works there to be there on the same page. This is of lack of training. Also if they are going to have a big issue about knowing what their policy is for visitors they should have it on their website or even written in the lobby area to avoid any confusion. I suggest that either the hospital or whoever hires security to train them better. On a different note, the bathrooms are also very disgusting. On Thursday when I went up to the fifth floor where my mom was, I went to the restroom on that level and it is not even wheelchair accessible. (I’m in a wheelchair) How is it possible that a bathroom is not wheelchair accessible especially in a hospital? On Thursday, June 9, 2022, my mom was admitted to the hospital because she was going to have surgery. I was at the hospital on the 6th of June 2022, medsurg unit. I was there to check up on my father. First of all thank you to the nurses especially Salome, RN. who respectfully care for her patients, and also extend her hand services to those patient who were not assigned to her as well. Salome was not my father's care giver on this particular day, but she always there to assist my father. English is not my father's first language, and she cared for him, and was very patient with my father despite him not assigned to her. I literally saw a patient hit Salome on this particular day, and she was so calm and professional in her services. She even calm the patient down as well as asking the patient if there's anything the patient would like such as crackers, and coffee. Hopefully the hospital protects nurses like Salome who serve patient's with good heart, and professionalism. Again thank you Salome, people like you are the reason we come to the hospital knowing very well that someone cares.I was at the hospital on the 6th of June 2022, medsurg unit. Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
