List of Alice L. Yan's Reviews
Dr. Alice Yan is the most thorough and caring doctor Ive ever had throughout our 17 years in the Bay Area. She has saved me from potential medical dilemmas, her treatment is precise. She amazes me... quite a genius doctor.I commend her for her amazing treatmentThank you so much for your expertise and care, Dr Yan. We need more caring doctors like you!Myla C.
I have been seeing Dr. Yan for 18 years now and credit her with my excellent health, at age 72. She is a great diagnostician and her diagnosis are always correct. She is timely, to the point, caring, and even calls after hours with results of blood work done just that very day. I trust her completely, and would not hesitate to recommend her. Thank you for the wonderful care you provide me, Dr. Yan.
The front desk are very unprofessional and rude. They have no knowledge of their SOP. What is surprising these people need training how to do patient care to their clients! The doctor is another story, but suffice to say she needs training as well on how to take care of her patients properly.
The medical receptionist are rude and dont know wht theyre doing. They are disorganized and very unprofessional.i will never coming back here ever again.
Alice has been my internist for about 35 years, she is tough and stays ahead of your medical needs. If you ever need a doctor to ride you to make sure you get things done and stay on track medically she is the one for you. She is fast and doesn't fool around, sadly her office staff has changed, the current team is in my opinion less than adequate as compared to her previous team. Front office aside, she one of the best internists I have known through my interactions with the medical industry in San Francisco and the peninsula.
Ive been with Dr Yan for about 5 years and she is great. Very prompt (Ive never waited for more than 10 minutes) and very professional. Previously I was seeing a cardiologist who could not reduce my cholesterol but Dr Yan was able to reduce it immediately. She also helps in reducing your costs for drugs very nice of her!If you are looking for a mental counselor or want to talk about your aches and pains for 30 minutes while the Dr holds your hand, dont go to Dr Yanshe is a no nonsense physician who sincerely wants to help you and she is very direct and a straight shooter. Staffing is often a problem (hard to recruit, overworked, numerous insurance issues) in physicians offices in the Bay Area, so give the docs a little leeway in this department. Just because the staff might not be up to par doesnt necessarily reflect on the physicians competence. Dr Yan is great and I have referred lots of patients to her that are very satisfied. Highly recommended.
My husband and u have been seeing Dr. Yan for over 7 yrs now. Were both ICU nurses and we truly value Dr. Yans expertise and care over the years. She follows her patients very closely. Shes meticulously thorough and sharp with her diagnoses and assessments. Although, her medical knowledge is clearly remarkable, shes always humble enough to incorporate other specialists and medical researchs latest recommendations. Shes brutally honest, Ill have to say, no sugar coating, and no babying. We are nurses so we totally get her riff, but being in the medical field, weve been in the Healthcare scene long enough to know that wed rather have a doctor that truly cares and knows her stuff than one who can put on a good show despite not being an expert in their field. Bear with her and take the time to get to know her and she will take good care of your health. I found her through Yelp as I used to see doctors in San Francisco before I moved to the Peninsula. Shes a gem. Go Dr. Yan!
Im in the process of replacing Dr. Yan as my moms primary care physician because I have never witnessed a doctor that consistently treated you as if you were a nuisance every time you contacted her with legitimate questions/concerns. This is someone that obviously hates her job and only became a doctor after being nagged into it by her parents because the care she provides would be best described as the polar opposite of TLC. Unless you enjoy rushed service from a doctor that hangs up on you midsentence during a phone call, avoid Dr. Yan at all costs.
I have been a patient of hers for over 10 years. I regret not leaving many years ago when I began to realize that it wasnt really working out for me. First off, I have to constantly get appointments every 6 months just for prescriptions that I will take for the rest of my life. Then, when concerned about possible sleep apnea, was told I was just fat and should consider working out.... after a couple of years of asking, was finally referred to a sleep center and miraculously told me, hey, did you know you had sleep apnea???. I said, oh, I thought it was because I was fat!!! On a side note, I work out every day, weight 185 lbs at 56, I didnt think I was fat... even if I dont fit the typical bmi, to be told your just fat is unprofessional and inappropriate.... the last straw for me was being charged for an appointment that was cancelled the day before... I was told that the office had a new policy that recently became in effect, even though I was told on the phone when I made the appointment to call the day before. My appointment was on a Monday and I called on a Friday. Apparently they recently put up signs that said I was supposed to call on Thursday... Well then why did you tell me to call the day before!!! Just horrible!!!
The front desk persons are really unprofessional and rude to new customers. It took me a week to finally make the appointments for me and my husband. When we both took off and got there, they canceled our appointments already claiming that I made a call asking for it. I pulled my calling history immediately and didnt find the one they were talking about. Finally they suggested us find another doctor. We dont even have chance to meet the doctor yet!!! The office is crowded and busy. It makes you feel like in the old fashioned market where youd better not bother any working staff too much because theyre BUSY and noclients is never a problem for them. Their consideration is only for the patients theyve known really well. I bet they got a call from another person but cancelled my appointments instead by mistake. And then they slide their friend in. The woman who took our slot passed a big bag of gourmet buns bought from the supermarket through the window to the front desk..... I hope Im thinking too much. Im not sure if the doctor knows what happened behind her back or maybe thats the culture in there. But goodbye, the nasty place!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
