Excellent Physician to perform an ablation !

...I had mine with DrDerby 21 years ago. He advised me to avoid a cervical fusion, and find a good anesthesiologist. I did. Never regretted not ending up like Ed Sullivan and still in agony. Thank you Richard Derby !!

Dr. Derby basically saved my life in terms of finally giving me a proper diagnosis for my lumbar discs causing me incredible nerve pain. I flew to NYC, Boston and all over the country to finally get my proper diagnosis which I could finally present to my insurance to get a spinal fusion which they denied me for over a decade. With my specific diagnosis it was determined that a lumbar fusion would help me. I finally was then able to have several Levels fused and lessen my nerve and overall pain. Dr. Derby did my discogram. It went very smoothly. He is a kind man. He is also a genius. I am so grateful for doctors like him.

Dr. Derby is the best of the best. I had a very difficult problem with my back. Kaiser said nothing was wrong. I knew something was very wrong so I finally was sent out for a facet block. At that point after speaking to the doctor and having him review my files, MRI's, and more he told me I had what was called a "chemically sensitive disc". I went back to my doctors and they had never heard of it. That's when you know your in trouble. Finally after three years of going to doctors all around the country and some of the best doctors in NYC, Boston and more Dr. Derby finally gave me a diagnosis. When his article finally came out on this condition I was able to go back to my insurance company and demand a spinal fusion (as in my case it was proved to be a successful treatment). I had my spinal fusion! While I still have pain it is NOTHING like I did before. Before I just wanted to jump out of a window and end it all. Now I have pain but not the relentless frightening nerve pain with the feeling of battery acid running down my back. When I was finally approved for surgery I returned to Dr. Derby for my discogram as my insurance wasn't set up to do this procedure. Anyone that knows about discograms knows they are one of the most dreaded procedures one can have before a fusion. Dr. Derby was patient, and calming. I already knew he was the best person on the West Coast to do this. I really can't say enough about this man. He made it possible for me to have a life again. That's a lot....a whole lot. A big thank you to Dr. Derby and his staff and Seton Medical Center.

I have been a patient of Dr Derby's since the mid 90's.If he and his staff weren't so compassionate and professional I would never have been able to retire on my term. His abilities made it possible for my family to succeed and for me to have a good life. I thank him for being a good guy.

My first 2 visits with dr derby were great. I had a branch block the first time and a left cervical neurotomy the 2nd. The staff was helpful the anesthesiologist was great, I woke up after the procedure a little woozy but, no pain and no nausea. After a few weeks I was happy with the results. I went back to get the right side done and the whole experience was awful. His staff was not helpful, the anesthesiologist was awful and dr derby was very dismissive. I woke up in pain, threw up all the way home ( I live 4hrs away) and they gave me nothing for pain or nausea. It has been over 8 weeks and I am having more trouble with my neck and more headaches than before. I don't know why this time was so different but, I will not go back.

Dr. Derby is an amazing doctor. When no one else had any idea of what was wrong he diagnosed me very quickly. I had been to countless people all over the United States. He did my first block and then my disco gram. He was always compassionate and caring and understood the difficulty I was gong through. It was because of an article he wrote that I was finally able to make the serious decision to go ahead and do a spinal fusion. In the end it was the right decision. I feel he is the best of the best.

Doctor Derby PROVED that my pain was NOT being faked. In 1994-5 he found that I was suffering from multiple herniated mid and low back herniated disc's caused by a serious head on collision. Dr derby is simply the very best having a very bad back injury he was responsible for pain control and is the very best having tried many I highly recommend him
