Douglas Segal Md's Online Review Report Card

Dr.Douglas B. Segal, MD is an amazing Doctor who has awesome Bed Side Manners, personal able explains what’s going on, makes sure you understand what could or couldn’t be going on, and most of all his medical recommendations sounds more like encouragement then order. I am so happy I have the pleasure of being one of his patients. It’s sad that in todays World of Medicine there’s Doctors and nurses that don’t care, not personal able and careless how you feel or how they speak to you……. They are not in it because of their passion to help, but for other reasons. NOT Dr. Segal. His office staff is amazing as well as very nice, and professional, they represent Dr. Segal very well. Although my insurance no longer allows me to see Dr. Segal, he is absolutely one of my favorite doctors. I was sent to him from my primary just to check on my heart. My primary EKG was fine but he felt I should see a cardiologist and Dr. Segal was it. Dr. Segal saw me and did his own EKG although I even had mine with me and it was only 5 days old. It too was fine. Because he is good at his job, he wanted me to have an Ultra-Sound which I wasn't keen on but he insisted so I did it a few days later. What he found is that I had an Ascending Aortic Aneurysm getting ready to burst. Of course, he had to put in an insurance request because doctors aren't allowed to make decisions but he told me if I felt ANYTHING to get to the emergency. I did feel something just a few days later. Unusual for me I followed instructions and went to the ER, They sent me by ambulance, lights, and sirens screaming, to USC immediately and apparently it burst just as the surgeon opened me up 40 minutes later. Dr. Segal, in his wisdom, saved my life. If that had burst while I was at work I'd be dead. I will never forget that he went that extra step when everything looked ok on the surface

DO L.A. Cardiologist’s office staffer decides who shall live and who shall die.... Is unknown staffer documenting your chart over the phone? Who is “documenting” patients chart? ‘Doc or staffer. You call it— heads or tails

Arrived at the office at 3:05p and wasn't told that the Dr. wasn't there until about 4:40p and that was only after I asked for the second time. I waited months for this appointment because I needed a cardiologist clearance for surgery. UPDATE: Spoke to the Doctor and he appears to be really nice.

Dr. Segal has treated my husband and I with such kindness and care with cardiology advise. Questions are answered, our concerns are listened to and always very understanding. Professional staff.

His Downey clinic is terrible. They do not care for patient privacy, (often entering rooms while I was half undressed), the wait times are at least 2 hours before even being seen, and they do not communicate whatsoever with you. I left Dr. Segal 4 or 5 messages in the past 2.5 months to have him return my call and not once did I hear anything back. Also, my echocardiogram that I had to take time off from work to have done was not complete, so he wanted me to redo it, but never informed me!

In 2014 my regular dr (Dr Mark Schneider) referred me to Dr Segal. This referral was based upon the fact that I was having some indigestion. Dr Schneider had performed an EKG and it was normal but he still referred me. Dr Segal performed his own EKG and again said it was normal but since I was referred he wanted to be sure. He scheduled me for an UltraSound a few days later. During the check it was discovered that I had an Ascending Aortic Anuerism. Dr Segal went out of his way to help me.

Dr. Segal reviewed my medical problems repeatedly with me and my family until he found a solution that we were all comfortable with. He is exceptionally kind, charming, and focused.

Dr. Segal save my mother my 84 your mother's life he did a great job he took the time to talk to us took the time to explain everything to her and a follow-up visit he he gave us this time then too I felt very comfortable with him as my mother's doctor I would recommend him to toeverybody
