Convenient location in the Downey area. Staff was very professional, we were checked in minutes, surely beats the service in the emergency room. Glad that found this place
I visited their office last year 2020, during the inception of COVID 19. I was very sick and complaint about flu like symptoms. The desk administration advise me that my insurance did not cover their facility and that I could get a 1 day referral to allow me to visit that one day. Following approval and a $20 copay I was able to be seen. After visiting the office, the wait was extremely long and the doctor tested me for the virus. It was confirmed I had the flu but not COVID-19.Fast forward to 2021, I received a credit alert from PIH, stating that I had a negative report. I was never notified of this report and additionally remember I received a day pass. So I disputed the issue twice and PIH reported that the information was accurate. So I contacted my insurance who told me PIH billed me incorrectly, they billed me for an office visit and not an urgent care facility when I was told it was urgent care and clearly they the name says it as well, they even charge me a $20.00 copayment. Subsequently, I spoke with Johnathan A from billing who told me they are Urgent care only in name only and they are unable to change the status of my visit from office to urgent because of tax purposes. I'm extremely upset about this purgatory medical practices here and I will be speaking to a lawyer regarding the emotional turmoil.
Worst answering system ever. I went from being on hold for 3 minutes next thing you know I was told to hold for 15 minutes. I've been on hold for 25 minutes know and still waiting. This is place is a disgrace, I have a $200 copay and can't even get my phone call answered. Disgusting, shame on you
My first visit was good, but my second visit was horrible, still woke up with a high fever and told the doctor but she just told me that i looked fine and was able to go home? like did you not listen to me when i said i had a high fever when i woke up? didn’t seem like they wanted me in there. Doubt i’ll be back here
I visited the Downey PIH Urgent Care on 5/17/2021 and was taken back within 10 minutes. The front desk girl was pleasant and make check in a breeze. The nurse that took me back was also very kind and sympathetic to the pain I was in. She made sure I was comfortable and very detail orientated when taking notes for the Dr. I saw a PA, Nancy and she was also very sweet and understanding. She let me explain what I was feeling and she really listened.I really felt compelled to write this review after I saw a few bad ones, which are all relates to the costs. For someone that works with insurance and also from previous personal experience I gotta give a piece of advice. BEFORE you visit and provider, make sure this provider is within your insurance network. If you visit an out of network provider, you will regret it when you receive your EOB and bill. This is not the fault of the provider, it is the patients responsibility. For those of you that have a PPO and think that you can go anywhere you want, you are right, you can. However, same rules apply. Out of network provider is going to being you out of pocket expenses. It is not fair to write a bad review on a provider because, you the patient/subscriber did not do your homework.Back to PIH Downey Urgent Care, I would go there again and recommend it to anyone who is in their network. Excellent care and treatments.
Great service
I really wanted to rate it better because the staff is great (except for the x-ray tech that doesn't wear masks because he must feel like he's the exception) but how do you bill $95 for the same crutches that you find on CVS for $20-25? My insurance brought down to $77 but it is still 3x the retail price and they buy in bulk which means, lower pricing! I called them to see if they can do a courtesy adjustment and nope. So I had to pay that for some crutches that were "given" to me by the urgent care doc. Never will I step foot into a PIH center again. 90% of the staff is great but sorry, the fees are ridiculous.
Caroline at the front desk was great... fast and efficient. She should genuine care and concern over the person coming in... processed our entry as fast as she could so that we could get seen. Wish they would have been that efficient in the back.
Terrible urgent care... over charge patient.. do not go here... I’ll die before I come here... I took my daughter to get diagnosed for ear infection. The doctor remove her ear wax on both sides so she can see it. Did you know they charge $110 per ear for ear wax removal. I don’t know how this is legal. I complained to the representative. She says if I want I can find health advocate to complain it with. Really!!!! I tried to call back to talk nice and she still mean and hateful. These people are not in healthcare to help people. They in it to rob people.
I had to go to the Urgent care yesterday (Sunday 10/20/19). This place was awsome. Clean, not crowded at all. I got right in and out. The staff was very professional and friendly. I recommed this urgent card to anyone that needs it.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
