My husband was diagnosed of lung cancer last year. During the pandemic, he was admitted for two weeks. When the hospitalist called me for his first day medical condition, he did not know about my husband’s ejection fraction going down to 30 percent and RAF and he told me my husband would be discharged tomorrow. It made me very worrisome. After midnight, my husband was transferred to ICU. Until few days of admission, he finally was seen by A cardiologist. My husband totally stayed COH for two weeks. He could not responded me too well due to Percocet and fentanyl. Palliative Dr. wanted to give him more iv fentanyl. You can give but not give the patient when the patient can not reply you verbally. Please don’t call the patient about research report after two months, he gained his wings.

City of Hope COVID restrictions are CRUEL.Although this is a world renowned cancer facility that takes great care of bodies, it has missed the boat in taking care of people during COVID. My brother recently had an emergency hospitalization there. The rules about visitors are cruel. People need their families with them when facing serious treatment. Families are just as important for recovery as are doctors. With its solid reputation, City of Hope missed an opportunity to lead in creating a visiting schedule that is as cutting edge as its physical treatments.Both my neice and I were there to show him support. We both came from out of state. His wife, who is now in a wheelchair, had not seen him for weeks. The day we managed to get her there, a nurse yelled at my neice, yes, YELLED, that my sister-in-law had to leave immediately! Only one visitor is allowed per 24 hours! WHAT? First, we didn't know the rules. Second, the rules are stupid! How is anyone going to get better when they are worrying about and missing their families?!If the people in charge believe in the vaccine and nearly everyone is now vaccinated, there is no reason to restrict visitation. Even if someone is not vaccinated, those that ARE have nothing to fear!In addition, we were told that doctors can change the visiting rules. That turned out to not be true. In fact, the one doctor we asked to do that made it clear that this was BS and that they couldn't change anything. The doctor was not amused. They said that they are being used as scapegoats. The visitor policy is set by the hospital and not by doctors. City of Hope. Be the city of hope! Live your name! Keep your patient's families close. They want to be part of the care team. They NEED to be part of the care team.

This is a great hospital. Unfortunately, they're COVID-19 policy is insane. Today my wife had an appointment and I was refused entrance, told to wait outside (in 100° heat) and connected via a conference call. I hadto sit in my car with the engine and air-conditioning running, even though I'm fully vaccinated, wearing a mask and negative tested. Had this been my wife's first visit, I would have been allowed to accompany her, with no requirement for vaccination or testing, just a mask. Insanity. The policy should be consistent to make any sense.

City of Hope has been a blessing to my family. The doctors, nurses and staff are amazing people. My husband is being treated at City of Hope and it has been a blessing to our lives everything they have done and continue to do. Thank you.

It saves lives. I know because I entered the City of Hope in August of 1961. I was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia and given 36 hours to live. I was 10. I am now in my 70th year.
